    Dear Shekharji,
    I am, possibly, amongst the earliest members of the Print. I think you and your team are doing a great job, bringing us unbiased news. I wanted to point the attention of your team to a project called the Dedicated Freight Corridor by the Modi Government. On paper the project seems quite promising and as usual the devil might lie in the detail or maybe there could be vested interests involved. Either way its an ideal topic to de-clutter. Kindly do a CTC on the DFC project of Railways. Thank you. Namaste.

    • @kingbradley3402
      @kingbradley3402 Месяц назад +1

      Grandmaster (GM) is the highest official title awarded by FIDE, the global chess committee. International Master (IM) is one level lower than that. There are other titles like FM, CM and NM.
      There are 2 things you need to achieve for these titles: one is called ELO rating. Consider it like a rating which tells your chess strength. For GM title, you need to have 2500 rating. For IM, you need 2400 rating. You gain rating by winning or drawing other players.
      Second thing you need is called norms. These are given in specific tournaments decided by FIDE, and is based on your performance in that tournament. For GM, you need 3 GM norms. For IM, you need 3 IM norms.
      Once you get a title, you have it for life

    Why does a sport like Chess has separate ranking and game for women? Wouldn’t it merit to have a mixed game and ranking for chess?

    • @hkumar7340
      @hkumar7340 Месяц назад

      Almost every study has shown that men have a genetic advantage in spatial reasoning. (Women have a genetic advantage in certain verbal comprehension categories -- things like vocabulary.) That means that, at the topmost levels of any game that requires spatial thinking, men will far outnumber women. And you can see this quite clearly in the list of super GMs -- higher than 2700 FIDE rating -- in chess. Other than Judit Polgar, I cannot think of any woman who could have competed in the super-elite level of chess tournaments.
      So, it does make sense to have a separate ranking and a separate game for women.

    • @stormixgaming8389
      @stormixgaming8389 Месяц назад +1

      They aren't separate the two sections are the Open and Women sections. Women can play in the open sections but given there are far fewer woman the talent pool does not have an equal distribution, hence the women specific sections.
