    I actually like the way she specifically categorized it as " Yoruba accent". Many people especially here in America don't know there are many different accents not only in Nigeria but within a region or even a state. Good job for pointing that out mum.

    I am a Nigerian living in the UK 🇬🇧, my twin teenage children are British born and they try to correct our Nigeria Accent. I am Yoruba and their mum is Igbo. They are still trying to get their heads round when they visited Nigeria for the first time last year. They think we are a crazy lots in Nigeria but they are proud of how we care about each other . Proudly Nigerian. We no dey carry last.

      Daughter's pronunciation sounds like "worter or warter! And not water.
      Mum's pronunciation sounds like watah or wotar"
      Mum's pronunciation of most of the words are more correct than that of the daughter in my opinion. Bad pronunciation leads to bad spellings and we see this time and time again in English and Americans peoples spellings. They are very bad with spellings. They spell the same way they pronounces words.

    This brought me back to my childhood. I was in a summer program when I was about 9 where one of the activities was an African drum class. I always thought it was hilarious when he would get mad at the class and say “you cheel-DREN do nut LISS-ten”. I never laughed to his face because he didn’t play but I still remember him to this day. Loved that class.

      Same. Nigerians are very different from East to West, North to South. The accent of someone from Enugu is not the same as someone from Ogun, Katsina or even Cross River which is close to Enugu.

      Fuel is defintion not pronounced or spelt they way her accent limits her. They lack cultural ways of speaking many accents do that's why Americans when they learn a different language will pronounce the word differently due to cultural tongue

      most Yorubas pronounce ch as sh. There is no letter c in their alphabet which i think is the reason. The igbos and vast magrity of tribes including me however prounouce ch as ch. I sometimes use its to joke.

    I love how the Nigerian accent is. I wish I had one. I like pretend slip into one or mimic how my mother speaks. My mom and dad speak different dialects and are from different tribes. You go mama. You are amazing!

    I like the way the mother said Yoruba accent because you can definitely tell some of the words were actually how a Yoruba person would pronounce them compared to a Hausa person

      Oh my goshhhhh I never realized that. I have an “American” accent whatever that means and even when I talk I think we are weird lol!! My parents are Cameroonian so like the video I grew up with my parents having different pronunciations. It’s help me not have a superiority complex...American English and pronunciation has always been weird to me tbh.

    Actually the reading in nigerian accent makes a lot more sense because its more solid and you dont have to worry over the same letter being pronounced different without any given reason.
    Best example Banana! Why should the same "a" be pronounced different then rather the same, everytime?Its the same "A" as before!

      @@catrinad2491 Laughing can be from feeling awkward/embarrassed/uncomfortable, so the daughter could just be feeling a bit awkward doing this with her mother. The daughter could maybe not have known her mother very long, or interacted with people who have the mom’s accent. The daughter handled it better than a lot of other US citizens who full on go and actually become the DEFINITION of rude

    As a native Hebrew speaker, I can understand both accents because, while my English is quite good, the mother’s pronunciation is similar to the Hebrew one and some words I pronounce similarly to her.
