    You never know what you're going to see on a ferry in another country. The craziest ferry ride We have ever taken was in Guatemala. That is a whole lot of chickens under a net. Your dessert looks tasty.

      It's a sad reality. You'll notice I only ever admired them from afar. I don't touch cats or dogs when travelling anymore because of the risk of rabies.

    oh haha i actually work next door to the hotel you stay at, its a 4 tar hotel called african princess!! you should visit! or even visit one of our restaurants, 3 chicks and a grill!!

      Wow, I have no doubts you'll have a memorable experience. I was apprehensive about the crossing beforehand but it actually ended up being a highlight of my trip. Hopefully my video helped give you an idea of what to expect and I hope you enjoy yourself!

      @@awenaturale yup! They haggled my driver literally every 10-20 mins. Every police check point wanted some type of tip. When I finally approached the ferry, they wanted some compensation too. My driver handled everything. I wasn’t coming off any money. The ferry it’s self was actually easy and simple.

      You will be very pleased to know that my next video (on Senegal) will be longer in length. It's not finished yet but there's a lot of content to pack in so it will be at least 20 mins I would expect. This video you have just watched here covers a day where there was a lot of driving so I didn't manage to film enough to fill up a longer video. I hope you will enjoy the next video... and with that I best get working on it 😅

    Does the ferry from Gambia take you directly to Senegal?

      This ferry was a domestic one between two locations within The Gambia (Barra to Banjul). We crossed the border between Senegal and The Gambia by road which is the most popular way to journey between the two.

      There is a lot of conflicting information on whether or not you need a permit to fly in Senegal and that information seems to be changing constantly. The latest information (July 2022) says you do need a permit to fly in Senegal.

    Why weren’t you allowed to film at the border? Did you have to pay the bribe?

      Filming at borders can be risky in causing upset. I didn't want to attract unwanted attention that way. We didn't pay a bribe but it's worth noting we were with a guide who had a good relationship with the border officials. Had we just been there on our own, it may have been different

      I actually hired a local tour guide and he had his own vehicle so I am unsure of the costs to journey via taxi. Hopefully someone will respond who knows the answer.

      @@Charcmode remember reading somewhere, that it stems from the fact that former UK colonists used to pay their employees a wage of 2 shillings (UK currency pre-decimilisation). Coloquial (slang) speak for a shilling was a bob so from there white people were called 2 bobs hence toubab. But now the meaning is "white people".

      @@EllaMcKendrick No, it is not wrong. But sometimes it is not so nice, if peoples know your name, but still call you "toubab" I dont call all gambians, when I see them "gambian".
