Yep. It's so interesting to think that the cadets felt so young and were looking up to chief, but chief was way younger than all of them. Like they were young adults, but the spartans were actual children.
@@thebazhammer2610 "it doesn't matter" is an odd way to put it. I agree with you that it was probably necessary, but it *does* matter. Losing one's humanity in order to protect humanity makes you wonder what you're actually protecting in the first place...
What I've always liked about Forward Unto Dawn, is that when they meet Chief, they think he's a robot because of the way he talks and acts. But when they meet the other Spartans and they take their masks off and then look at Chief, they realise they're not robot's but human like them but also different because they look like they have the same age as them. But to the Spartans, for them they don't see themselves as human but as... machines designed to follow orders or designed to be soldiers
39:51 it is common. Majority of the community believe we don't need to see his face, his actions and a his few words is all we need to see him. Doesn't matter how he looks like, we see him as good character and a human being.
24:52 whats worse about her death it’s that you can see she got SUPER COMBINED, it essentially means that she got hit with enough needler rounds to literally explode
God I almost forgot that Cortana got so very close to actually killing Chief while he was in cryo. It kills me that this was not only done on a super tight budget, but done *better* than something that had a full budget like the Halo tv show. This is what the tv show should have aspired to be. THIS is what happens when people who respect and love the franchise work on something. Doesn't matter if they have to cut corners, they'll find a way to keep it faithful.
This takes place really early in the Human/Covenant war, that's why almost nobody knows about the Covenant or Spartans. Chief's a lot younger in this, so they didn't get Steve Downes to play his VA, but if I recall correctly there were also questions about whether or not he was gonna return to voice Masterchief for Halo 4 and supposedly Microsoft was trying to replace him and Jen Taylor (Cortana), but they are both irreplaceable.
They actually filmed this movie around vancouver, thats why you have such deep almost eldrich looking woods and misty mountains everywhere. They also filmed the warthog segments on old logging roads.
Fun fact: If you grew up in Australia during the 00's you'll know Lasky's actor as Sammy from Dance Academy, and I cannot disconnect him in my head from that role, which made Foreword unto Dawn a very weird viewing experience.
Honestly I don’t think anyone can NOT help but getting this massive feel of hope and chills not help but admire and smile when the master chief shows up the whole movie up until this point felt scary like but you know chief isn’t losing.
Back when this was coming out, it was so hype, however, nowadays Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is so underrated, I'm glad to see people still watching it, as it is really cool! Before I forget: there's another Halo web-show that you should watch before Halo 5: Guardians called Halo: Nightfall.
28:27 that's is a scary information. At best, it took the covenant an hour to almost clear the planet. When comparing to battle of reach and earth. Who have the best of the best and most militarized. The other planets were really a horror movie.
104 is Fred, and this event would have taken place less then a year after sams death, chief and the other spartan II's would have been about 15 years old, the cadets were all 19-21 years old
Did you ever watch the halo reach trailers? There are good live action halo trailers for reach and odst. One about Carter and him becoming a Spartan. Explains the blue eyes and stuff
I REALLY recommend watching/listening to the halo Hunt the truth episodes. An amazing piece of halo content if I do say so myself! And Sully from forward unto dawn makes an appearance as an antagonist of sort
Originally it was released as web episodes you could watch on RUclips free of charge they later combined it all into one film, what gets me is it was incredibly low budget but they still made it one of the best Halo action film and it did really well though got the usual hate from ultra fans that complained that the chief was not in it more or that there was to much talking and not enough action, which always amused me as this story was never about the Chief or meant to be action focused.
The UNSC-Covenant War is based alot off of Babylon 5's Earth-Minbari War. Both wars where humanity stood at the brink against a religious zealot enemy and barely made it mostly though luck.
My only wish for this movie was more Covenant depictions and involvement. Yes, keep it as is, but show more of them rather than just weapons fire or brief encounters. I also wish they let us see Linda, though I think she's in Green Team at this time. Otherwise, this movie is absolutely amazing. I've always loved it. They had to go through such hard training in the academy because they're training to go to war against "terrorists". Anything less and they're not gonna be ready for it
Just a reminder to please not discuss any lore that Meg has not come across yet - be it in books, cinematics, or elsewhere. (She wants to discover it all herself.) Thank you!
Forward Unto Dawn had a tiny budget of 10 million dollars. It's incredible what they were able to achieve. This is what the Halo show should've been
True that! Forward Unto Dawn and Landfall did what Paramount+ couldn't with 90-200 million.
@@RETRODAN87 Well… landfall kinda missed the mark but yes
Edit: I meant Nightfall

@@zerolulu4095 whoops! I was thinking of Nightfall, thanks for the correction
Nightfall was cool.
this takes place in 2526, so John, Kelly and Fred were ~15 years old
Yep. It's so interesting to think that the cadets felt so young and were looking up to chief, but chief was way younger than all of them. Like they were young adults, but the spartans were actual children.
Makes you really think about how badly the spartan IIs were robbed of their childhood.

And that's applicable in reality as well... full auto mag dumps with pretty much any caliber are hella inaccurate; at least in my experience 😅
Fun fact, I’m pretty confident that is a real warthog! They made a drivable to scale warthog, I remember them showing it off leading up to the show!
Believe so. 2 or 3 have been made so far
Yeah, it is from New Zealand
Spartan 104 is Fred. And yes, eye augmentations were a part of the spartan bio-upgrades.
Fun fact: Thomas Lasky is actually a year older than Chief, and they're both teenagers during this.
The actor that plays the Master Chief in this is the same actor who plays Colossus in the x-men movies.
He's also Lincoln in Baytown Outlaws. A massive redneck
So Anna Popplewell who played Chyler Silva was not in Bridge to Terabithia but she did find a magical land through a wardrobe.
lol yeah, she did correct herself later into the video
Chief is canonically 15 years old btw at this point.

Cadet Meg as the little mouse with the violin sound: 🔫🥹

Chief is never supposed to be unmasked in the games so you can always imagine yourself as Chief. You are John 117.
To this day, the only full movie I’ve ever purchased on RUclips. It’s now been divided into a miniseries but I still have the movie

It's an awesome day for MegMage and Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn
have a wonderful Tuesday Meg.🎵🎶🎼🙋🐕🎼🎶🎵
To put things in perspective, the entire budget for Forward Unto Dawn was around the same as a single episode of the Paramount Halo series
I know I am a few months late, but that was Fred and Kelly and yes, they had augmented vision.
104 is Fred, and this event would have taken place less then a year after sams death, chief and the other spartan II's would have been about 15 years old, the cadets were all 19-21 years old
Forward unto dawn is great honestly makes me sad that the Halo show failed so badly
Yeah, they had around 20x the budget and they butchered it
This is about 26 years before reach and the other games. John is around 15 or 16 years old in this movie.
I've not seen this before but YO ITS ABOUT LASKEY!? I really like him in the game, along with Sarah Palmer they are some of my favorite characters.
8:50 I'm just going to bookmark this for my own sake wot wot.
This happened at the very start of the war, 27 years before the events of Halo CE.

In this point of the story, Spartan 2's age is between 13-15 years old.
John 117 by this age has outranked almost everyone.
I remember when this came out as webisodes weekly on this one machinima channel that doesn’t exist anymore
