La Parguera is a small town tucked away in the southwest corner of Puerto Rico between Cabo Rojo and Ponce. The entire city is nestled amongst a mangrove shoreline and even features one of the few bioluminescent bays in the world!
However, we came here for the town's reputation as an amazing scuba diving destination: and boy, were we NOT disappointed.
La Parguera is home to a Wall Dive - a type of dive site where the reef system begins its descent into deep underwater trenches. They're literally underwater cliffs covered in coral and other marine life.
This wall dive, in particular, began its plummet around 60 feet. We met a massive hawksbill sea turtle, reef sharks, lionfish, and dozens of other beautiful creatures! The second dive was at a dive site called "Chimney Reef." Considerably more shallow, the rocky architecture was a pleasant complement to the Wall.
