Looks more like an F-16. Indian airforce also operates the rafael F3R variant. Looks like twin-engine Falcons when they fly past.

The Rafale is also landing on American carriers , the French and American Military actually have incredible synergy in their joint venture maneuvers , just like the Brits, and Japanese, this is one reason the Chinese fear us, how America dovetails our abilities with our allies
French aircraft carriers have been equiped with american made steam powered catapults since the 1960s ; to make sure that their planes could land on american carriers, french aircraft manufacturers just had to make sure that they could land on their own carriers ; they have the same technology and protocols as american ones, but they're smaller 😂.
(France used to have 2 aircraft carriers, and Charles de Gaulle was supposed to have a sister ship, but government greed prevented it.)
@@misterthemad994 yep, but the older french carriers like Foch and Clemenceau had cable attachement launch catapults, so was not compatible to the US aircrafts like FA18, at this times did the french navy use Breguet Alizé, Super Etendard and F8FN Crusaders

It seems like a small thing, but it's not. Being able to do this strengthens the effectiveness of the alliance.
It basically means France can use the massive US tanker fleet to also "project" their power when needed. So you don't only have to only worry about the USAF but all of our allies as well.

Tanker is from the unit that was "The Bloody Hundredth" (100th BG) in WW2, who is the subject of the new Masters of the Air series.
The video includes some footage of refueling from a KC-10. If a left hand of someone lying on their stomach is guiding the boom, it's a KC-135. If a right hand of someone sitting in a seat is guiding the boom, it's a KC-10.

I worked on those tankers and the Sac command post KC-135’s 49 years ago at Offutt AFB Nebraska. I was 20 years old and one of the few women aircraft electricians. The tool box, multimeter and tech repair manuals I carried up that ladder weighed close to 1/2 what I weighed. My favorite birds were the F-4’s and Hueys I worked on in Korea wish I could have kept one of each to just tinker on. Made me the gearhead I still am today.

What a cool video. I had the opportunity to fly in a KC-135 from Oregon to Hawaii for annual training one year when I was in the Oregon Army National Guard, even got to stay in the refueling crew position for a long period of time over the Pacific Ocean. The view was spectacular, but it got pretty chilly. Great memories.

I love to see cooperation between the US and our allies (that a certain bigot is doing his level best to drive away.) Back in the 80s when I was stationed in Europe, I had the pleasure of working with allied NATO and non-NATO servicemen and women and it was always awesome. I honestly miss those times.
Former staff sergeant in the french forces based in Germany, 2nd to platoon leader on AMX 30B, I used to work with the 1st US armoured cav brig in Ramstein... Then I totally agree... I miss the good ol nights in Trier(Rhineland), in the Irish pub there ;) I have exchanged my Elite infantry batalion coin for the coin of the "oil and support" service of the USAAF of Bitburg or Spangdhalem (can't recall which base it was)... Now Master sergeant in french gendarmerie, leader of a gendarmerie station. 30 years of service, still in race, twice injuried, in which a NDE (explosives, and the second bullet). No regret. Our gov may sometimes have bad relationship, but it has never been the case between servicemen. Then your comment is very well appreciated :)

Fyi : rafale in high altitude with hot weather got a performance issue. (Only 9 tons of thrust), this is a very difficult maneuver
I hope they will change it for a version of 12tons for new standart F5.
9 tons ? You wish. The current M88 is about 7.5 tons of thrust. There is a 9 tons variant dedicated to hot environment that was studied for the UAE order, but that went nowhere AFAIR, there are variants up to 10 tons offered for single engine fighters, but again, that went nowhere. The only upgrades in production or signed off are targetting greater range, operability and lower maintenance, not increased thrust.
I believe he is talking without PC but still wrong it should be 10 tons.
But he is right an additional thrust will help with full weapons load.

The pilot has to keep the aircraft in the right position so fuel will flow regardless of movement

@@verdebusterAP Not really. It's pumped under pressure, so position has little to do with passing the gas. Keeping the aircraft steady to aid hook-ups and avoid collisions are far more important. Generally, the tanker flies in a large oval orbit on station while refueling.

@@Noelegamer No. 5gen fighters is basically the name given to stealth fighter and the rafale is not stealth, it is "discret" (so still very hard to detect). Rafale is not a stealth fighter and it will never be. For a plane to be really stealth, it need to carry his missiles and bombs inside is belly but the rafale will never do that, even with the f5 standart, it will always carry them bellow the wings. But in the other hand, the design of the rafale is very well thought because from all 4th gen fighters it is the one that has the smallest radar signature. Also the rafale is powered with two m88 Safran engines that have a pretty low infrared signature compared to other engines. With the F3/R and the F4 standart you also have some electronic warfar sytemes that makes it capable of jamming the sensors of enemies systemes. I'm probably missing some other aspects but all that are the reasons why we call it a 4.5gen fighter, not "stealth" but really "discret".
