Hey, thanks for the video. Trying to learn to be better at Spider-Man. One issue I’m having is that even in my good games, my statline looks a lot like yours at 4:52, where my kill participation might be good but I’m always lowest damage amongst the damaging heroes, especially in wins or when my team does well. I get that he’s not necessarily a volume damage hero, but I worry that it’s an excuse mentality that will make it hard to know when I’m actually doing good. What is the line between “pressured and confirmed kills with low damage” vs “actually had no impact and everything was created by someone else’s play” I’m no grandmaster and will never be, and you’d know better and may disagree, but a lot of those plays in round one (outside of ult) were you building on momentum someone else created. Round 2 was way different. A lot of solo picks there. But for those round 1 kind of games, in the event your team doesn’t create openings, what are some checks to tell yourself to force the issue more? I don’t wanna be lowest damage AND no one is making plays if I’m going to climb. Is it just about safely building ult and relying on that? Similarly, in round one kind of games, if someone else is playing real well but it’s not all coming together, and your team is stalling at times, is spidey’s pressure and kill confirmation truly worth it? Like if you can kinda tell up to that point that maybe a teammate is your team’s best player, fragging like crazy, and maybe you’re the 2nd best, and the plays just aren’t there, is there a time when you can more easily tell when it’s a character switch issue vs just changing approach as Spider-Man? Sorry if it’s too confusing or too many questions. I just find myself disappointed grinding the character, and finally having what I feel are good matches where I land the shots and combos, and am still low damage, to the point where I feel like my success rate and win rate are still at the level of being a victim of circumstance, rather than forcing the outcome I want. And I just wonder if I’m not playing into my team correctly or if there’s more I could be doing or if I’m overthinking and should be happy with the kills I did get. Essentially, when I win, someone else is really creating the win and I’m just benefitting, and when I lose, maybe I’m just throwing with a character that isn’t providing enough.
gonna try to make this short and sweet, first off don't think about how much damage ur doing to much final hits is the only thing you should be worried about, if you have 30 kills and 20 final hits you did your job but on the other hand if you have 30 kills and 10 or less final hits you did not have much of an impact on the game. In my educational video i go over the 2 most effective playstyles for spiderman being "support dps" which is where you follow up on your teams damage to secure kills and the "assassin" playstyle where you will flank behind enemies to secure kills on supports or out of position dps. Unfortunately no matter what you do spiderman will never have the most damage or more then your other dps if they are playing well, also not every game will be winnable dosen't matter if your are playing well or not and even if you switch characters it really wont matter. The main take aways you should have are 1 damage does not matter on spiderman if you are consistently landing final hits 2 changing playstyles depending on what characters the other team has and how hard they are focusing you, for example if you are playing for picks on the supports but everytime you go to engage the whole team is peeling stop going for supports as its just not going to work instead play with your team on frontlines and wait for opportunities to stagger the enemy team or get picks on people way out of position. Finally play your life, spiderman has the fastest time to get into a fight and to get out if you are taking your fights very well and can do them fast you should be able to get out 90% of the time and if you see yourself dying more then you are able to get out re think how you are playing and try to look for better openings where you can get the job done. I know i didnt go over everything you said but i hope this helps atleast a little bit and changes the way you approach playing spiderman.
Love these vids thank you. Also you can’t grab Luna in ult :/ my main takeaways are. I need to be WAY WAY WAY more patient and setup for plays instead of using everything when it’s off cd and trying not to feed. You set your team up/capitalize off of them a lot which is something I feel I do to a minuscule extent boiling down to making sure they are at least looking at my tanks before going in but the awareness of the bucky ult play or even farming ult in brawls is a big idea for me to think on. My positioning in general is really bad especially when it comes to entry and primarily trying to plink as much as possible which seems far too slow and risky… in retrospect this makes a lot of sense lol. I’ve basically been jamming my head into the wall trying to force a one shot instead of setting up, scouting and looking for picks where I can get them. You should seriously start a support group for “swinging down main’s anonymous”. Looking forward to rollout video and future vid reviews keep it up bro
