"Hermione Gooderlry" (name of the widow) is a riff on Hermione Baddeley, the British actress. In the mid-1960s Baddeley was probably best known to American audiences for her role in the Mary Poppins film. She had a prolific career as a character actress: in addition to her work in England she appeared in many American films and TV shows, including a stint as Mrs. Naugatuck on Maude starting in 1974. Also: Wrongo Starr's real name of Leonard could just be a random name, a coincidence...but I wonder if someone connected with F Troop was a fan of "On Stage", the very popular daily syndicated comic strip, by Leonard Starr?
Knocking on wood was done to ask good luck from wood spirits who it was believed lived in trees . Henry Gibson gave a memorable performance as the Neo-Nazi group leader in 1980's "The Blues Brothers.""
I found at least 3 suggested reasons for knocking on wood, that was one of them. I was afraid if I went into all of them it would take me too far afield of the topic at hand. Thanks for reminding me about the Blues Brothers. I don't know why I forgot that one!
Henry Gibson was actually in two episodes of Wonder Woman, having also appeared in the pilot movie in the beginning, sending info on the Nazis to the Allies. He also appeared in Bewitched as a leprechaun, along with numerous other guest appearances in the late 60s/early 70s
Dear Irving; Will you ever have a review of the F-Troop episode, "V is for Vampire " which featured Vincent Price in it? I loved your reviews of the five Batman episodes that featured Vincent Price as Egghead. The Dailymotion video app had the V is for Vampire episode of F-Troop that I was referring to until it was removed from the app.
Weren't Arte Johnson and Henry Gibson the same person? 8:29. Every time I watch this video, when the still explodes it goes to commercial. 9:18. Yeah, who shows episodes out of sequence? You showed "Space Destructors" before "Kidnapped in Space", so the cyborgs in "Destructors" never saw the "Space Plague" scene in "Kidnapped" so they were tricked when The Robot said that he was sick. 11:40. Picking up trash in the compound. That's how a lot of trouble got started on "Hogan's Heroes", if I remember correctly. 14:37. Hermione is wearing a wedding ring. 15:25. Agarn's suspenders are up, and he appears to have a hole in his shirt. 15:29. The hole is gone, and O'Rourke is pulling up Agarn's suspenders, which were already up. 16:23. Now Agarn has no suspenders. 16:51. Now Agarn's suspenders are back up. Now I have too much time on my hands.
The Black Widow kissed Wrongo, but his bad luck didn't affect her at all.
I'm guessing he is only a jinx towards men.
First one out of the stage coach was Tom Lester, Ebb from green acres.

I always found Henry Gibson a lot funnier than Arte Johnson, at least post-Laugh-in.
