This documentary deserves recognition at both the national and Oscar awards; it is truly exceptional! Those of us who have been avid listeners of KVN mama's concerts for over 50 years must have felt emotional multiple times during the presentation, purely out of admiration and respect for this great man. RK Shriramkumar's narration, especially towards the end, was particularly heart-touching. Artists like KVN mama come around once in a lifetime, and the producers deserve thanks for providing a comprehensive portrayal of his life.

Oh! This was such a rich, and highly emotive tribute to KVN maama. I was personally moved into tears when RK Sriramkumar Anna gave his personal account of his associations, in particular the last concert.

What RKSK says about Baiju Bawara is what happens to me when I listen to Sri KVN’s Varugalamo… it is such an iconic rendition that Nandanar himself seems to be present and sings the song whenever KVN sings it.

    An Ode to Shri KVN
Why do notes of a Raga dance in space when you sing?
Do you adorn them with flowers from the celestial garden?
Why does Laya Matha sit transfixed when you render a Krithi in all its beauty?
Why does your ensemble sound like one as if to tell us the ‘oneness’ of this Universe?
Why are your rasikas transported back to a bygone era when the celestial Gods made a rush for the front row of your concert?
Why does time come to a standstill when you sing?
Your music dear KVN Sir is spiritually uplifting and touches one deep within.
Will you be born again dear Sir?
    Ever your rasika
    Sundar

Nice documentary. Thank you for sharing!!
Around the 23min mark, Cleveland VV Sundaram brings up an interesting point about KVN Mama's repertoire, which was more vast than many realize. It turns out that "suma sAyaka" was in fact in his rotation in the early 70s (as evidenced in these clips: ruclips.net/video/Mn5Rqt7ZxpQ/видео.html, ruclips.net/video/zmXl23AhnjA/видео.html, and ruclips.net/video/a7SxPZym6Cw/видео.html), but what is remarkable is that pieces that he did not sing often could lay dormant for years and then make a sudden appearance later.
Once, in conversation with his former student and backup singer, Sri KV Ananthan, I remarked that it was unfortunate that Mama did not regularly sing staples like nagumOmu, cakkani rAja, or dinamaNi vamsha, whilst his master Sri ARI did. To my surprise, Ananthan Mama exclaimed that KVN did sing these kritis once upon a time! It's a shame that more recordings of KVN Mama do not exist where we can enjoy these renditions. (I recently came across KVN Mama singing Swathi Thirunal's dhanashree thillana which I have never otherwise heard from Mama: ruclips.net/video/Qfxtbzud2ZA/видео.html.)
