Minneapolis is quite an underdog. Great city that we don't often hear about. Nice vid reminding us of that !

Εξαιρετικό δίκτυο, πολύ χιόνι, πολύ μακριά οχήματα, μικρή η ανταπόκριση στο επιβατικό (αμερικανικό) κοινό, ωραίο βίντεο! Εύγε!

Nicely done video. Construction is beginning this winter on the Southwest LRT extension to Eden Prairie, to be part of the Green Line from St. Paul. Can't happen too soon.

Looking at this video made me glad I live in southern Arizona!! Don't get me wrong - Minneapolis' light rail rocks. But that winter cold, snow and slush gave me an uncomfortable chill even though the temperature outside my home was 109 degrees - lol!!

Although the horns these cars have are similar to the ones used on cars in Denver and Kansas City, the bells are very unique! They mimic the bells of the South Shore Line cars!

1:59 Seeing that, I thought the train had really been snowed on like it was sitting outside for a long period of time

I would say it looks 72% like the New Jersey Transit riverine light rail. The front is different though.

Not sure why Minneapolis built their light rail in the brutalist style. What they did around the University is just mind boggling. You would think a freight train runs through there. They dropped the roadway, built pedestrian bridges, concrete walls everywhere. They should have created a flat plain there with grass planted between the tracks. Small fences and gardens could have directed people where they wanted them to go. I know the University was seriously against the train, ironically, so that probably explains there over reaction.
Fifty thousand people a day now ride the light rail. That means a lot fewer cars and perhaps parking lots to ruin the place.

B bo gardens would have been a great idea

@B bo Freight Trains don't have overhead wires (at least not to my knowledge), they'd probably figure it was a Light Rail line, & that it would be relatively quiet.
