What would a Windows laptop have to do to tear you away from your MacBook?
I have a 2015 MacBook Air that I've installed Win11 on and I use it as my 'service laptop', the one I use to help fix friends/family computers when something goes wrong. A lot of people are surprised to see Windows on a MacBook that's for sure. I have a 2020 13" MacBook Pro which I love too. So yes I play both sides. Which computer do I use the most? My 11" iPad Pro lol.
It'd need to be free. I don't have any money for a new laptop.
It would need to do everything my M1 MacBook Air can do (including things like Airdrop) and then some more.
It would have to pay me a lot of money.
And it’s ugly.
The theme is: "I will not not make any tests and compare these devices based on objective data. I will just share my perception. BTW I am Apple fan"
You’ve pretty much described the ethos behind my channel 👍
Well, the MacBook Air is objectively better and that doesn't require any tests. The result is that we're all fanboys of excellence.
There. I made it make sense.
@@ArthropodSpidey this way of thinking explains a lot. It is good that Apple has both: people who love Apple products and want them to be even better, and... well people with this approach.
Anyway, somebody has to pay for iCable for 99.99$
@@Roman-rh2dkwhat on earth are you talking about?
@@MarkEllisReviews ahah. Classic)
Great review and I really appreciate the honesty here! I've literally been sprawling around looking for a portable windows machine that can even come close to my macbook air m2 in terms of form factor, build, and performance.
Honestly this might be the machine I'm looking for.
Not sure if you're still checking these but how warm does it actually get on your lap?
As a long-time Mac user, I have to say that I like Windows 11 a lot. They've made some great improvements.
This is the funniest thing I've heard today. Great joke
You mean they moved the taskbar to the middle?
Arch on this would kill and "What If's"
If I give current MacOS a rating of 9.4
And Windows 10 I’d give about 7.2
The Windows 11 IMO is the best improvement, and I’d personally rate it at 8.9
Hello mark I have been enjoying your windows reviews such as the surface.I know this sounds a bit rude but if your able to can you review the Asus vivobook book s15 it's £499.at Curry's it has got 16gb of ram an oled screen and a Intel core i5 I was wondering if it is a good budget option just for writing documents and so on and so forth and if you do please compare to the surface. Sorry jf this comes out as rude
Thankyou
Dolby Atmos - how can a laptop have this? I think it was about having speakers at different heights? More specifically, high up behind you.
Why literally no one doesn't review Zenbook S13 with Ryzen 7840u? I see that model on the market, but there is not a single review on it
did you find a review?
This is precisely what I hate: the macOS ecosystem, I do not feel free there. Unlike their hardware, which is superb. That's why I dream about a good implementation of Linux on the hardware based on their chips. I don't consider Windows a game changer, but it allows doing more under this OS than you can in macOS. The Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED is good, the only criticism I have is its good OLED but still non-mate display and not so powerful speakers.
I have the previous model of that laptop but barely use it as it gets too hot even when just web browsing. Sounds like not much has changed there
Well to further compare, a docking station for mac costs just about 10 times more than a windows one given the same port selection or if you take the same amount of money you can get 3 ports on a mac for 100$ or you can get a 10 port docking station otherwise.
On top of that, macs have the butterfly switch so in trade you can a slightly better trackpad in return for a keyboard thats probably the worst on the market compared to anything else even entry level laptops or cheap tablet keyboards.
Also you need to keep in mind what do you use it for. If you use it as a workplace laptop and your entire company is using windows(because lets face it on a company wide scale microsoft atleast offers packages while apple doesnt) than any macbook you would potentially use will screw you at work due to compatibility issues.
Also in the US/UK the price gap is smaller than in other places for example in hungary the price gap beetwen the 2 is 500$ while comparing the 8gb/512gb storage version macbook against the 16gb/1tb storage version s13 but if i want to compare the same specs the price gap goes up to 1000$ with less in the package.
So for the price of a macbook air you can buy the s13 oled and buy the samsung tab s9.
Uh, they switched back from the butterfly switch a while back. The new Magic keyboard is just better than most Windows laptops out there. I like the Surface 4’s keyboard though.
The entire display made of o glass like MacBook ? Or like normal laptop's?
We've just bought a 14" Zenbook and we love it!! I use a 16" M1 MBP but I'm very inpressed with Asus. HOWEVER, I saw a RUclips video and the reviewer had issues after 12 months and Asus did nothing to help. That worries me!!
I bought a 15.5 Zenbook flip back in late 2020, so far, no issues, it still works great. I realize Asus customer support is lacking, that's why I also bought an extended warranty through Best Buy. The sad thing is that HP's customer support is total crap, along with Dell, so I won't buy either of those brands.
I might switch over to Lenovo or Samsung next time for a windows laptop. I just don't wan to buy another Mac again.
MacBook air M1 screen is so fragile why can't they make it better in new models???
Funny. I hate all the new Macbook "modern" trackpads that came out later. I have a Macbook Pro 2012 Retina.
What Video editing software is available on Windows? I currently use iMovie on my MacMini ….
All of them apart from iMovie and Final Cut Pro. Then add some more, for example Vegas. It's all down to what you feel more comfortable using and what can do what you want as you want it for the least amount of effort. It's all down to the user.
@@Trusteft Thanks for your response appreciate it

oh man, I lasted two days with that S OLED machine. I had the i7 with 32GB ram, but the U processor was really killing the experience. the fan was always on and even moving sliders in lightroom would take a few seconds.
is the s oled good enough? i want to buy it but i also have the macbook air as an option to whichever is better..
No numbers. No benchmarks apart from "trust me bro". Vague, you need to charge it more often than an Air. No man. Just no. I may or may not disagree with the final conclusion, but for me this was not a good comparison.
No man, just no; this channel _really_ isn’t for you. I spent 45% of my AirPods Max review throwing the case around the studio. Thanks for stopping by.
@@MarkEllisReviews I didn't say anything about your channel or you personally. But ok. Thanks for the reply.
Windows no thanks used it for years drove me insane ! Windows 11 is like every other version of windows not as good as the one before it …. Windows 12 I wonder…
Actually, at least the ASUS (and others) will allow you to install Linux instead of Windows.
i watch this review but no test... so what's the point...
What kind of ‘test’ were you expecting?
Well, even if it would be a free giveaway, I would never give up my Mac for it. However, I am glad you have found the perfect laptop for you. It would be no fit for my workflow.
60 Hz on Mac display - not a fan.
I would consider buying a windows laptop if it levitates by it self 😂
9:50 love ya ! After 6 years of Windows and 14 years of MAC OS, I can just say that Windows is f***ing garbage and a waste of time !
PLEASE dont be the intel version
*NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO*
Azus or Asus?
I'm waiting for the barrage of comments.
maybe start to get bothered doing actual tests, its your job
It literally isn’t my job.
I wonder if you could Hackentosh it. I know those days are numbered since Apple has moved away from Intel, but might be a way to have the best of both worlds.
yes, but it comes with those gawdawful labels on the keyboard!
How can you NOT give it points for that?!
Get a mac you'll ever look back!
If you are starting then yes maybe. But if you’re invested in the Apple ecosystem no. Plus I could never go back to Windows.

Switched to 16:10 displays, blacked out their keyboard well…. Y wpeveryone trynna b apple

Boom!
Extremely biased review
How come?
True, the review is so biased.
The only laptop you ever need is a 13 mini iPhone, it does everything you need. Also you should review Elden Ring's iPhone 17 coming 2027. Umbasa.
If the Asus ran Mac OS then it might be a viable contender.....I simply can't abide working for any prolonged period on a Windows Machine. The Macbook isn't the "hardware"....it's the OS and the ecosystem that makes it appealing. Reviewers get so hung up on the hardware. That is understandable. Hardware changes at an exponential rate compared to the more gradual, almost glacial changes in Operating Systems. Companies need new things to sell.
Isn't it the other way around. You need to put Win 11 on Mac and you will have a great laptop.
Apple hardware is amazing, macOS is definitely worse than Win11.
@@Roman-rh2dkdo you know how to use macOS? Most people who hate it have no idea how to use it
@@ArthropodSpidey i woud say "use" is rather broad term for any OS, but answer is yes I do know how to use it.
And there is no hate. I have been with mac OS since 2020 (when M1 was introduced). It is visually appealing, and maybe allows macOS to be more efficient (hello windows moder standby). But thats all I guess.
@@Roman-rh2dkhahahahah if you've only been with macos since 2020, trust me. You have no idea how to actually use macOS. At the very least, you're definitely no power user.
@@ArthropodSpidey yeah sure. This is the definition of a good OS if 3 yesrs is not enough to understand how to use it.
Or you just sharing your experience?
It’s windows and that just doesn’t do anything for me. I find windows is just not for me. I have ADHD, dyslexia and a few others and find Mac OS just better for me.
MacBook all the way and that’s what il be buying to replace my 2015 pro
You ain’t good at this RUclipsr thing, time to find a new job
Does it run Apple software? No. Then it’s not an alternative.
Can't trust a guy who can't even be bothered to say Asus properly.
I was waiting for someone to say something.
