I tried to watch it. It got boring. I REALLY tried to pick it up again and play it...and I just couldn't. See, I played this game because at the time, I couldn't play anything else. I had an old 2014 MacBook Air, and that was all it could handle. Now I am running some *slaps roof of expensive entertainment system* improved...assets, I can actually play all those games I missed out on. I tried to pick Paladins back up...kinda like, experience the nostalgia, but uh...couldn't. It took 3 hours to get a game. The game...was not worth the wait.
So I have a question because I can't find answers. Is switch supposed to be dead yet, or is it going to be gone sometime soon? Because everyone is saying switch is dead but I've downloaded it, have been enjoying, and don't know if I did something funky or if I'm just going to lose paladins sometime soon
Master Raven, important question: does Vivian still build ultimate charge while her previous ultimate is active? Also how many characters talents have been changed in the past 12-18 months?
im more excited about this ''PALADINS STATE'' video more than the others, just because i know Paladins is doing better things since the beginning of this year
Honestly overwatch stealing from the fans made my friends and I flee to paladins and we're already having fun. We haven't had fun on overwatch in years.
The fact that people will actually SCREAM at healers like they killed their mother is so concerning. Nobody should ever get THAT angry at a game. Just leave
I saw this one maeve player that said I need to uninstall, like he got so mad because he didn’t get healed, because I played pip for the first time in years and decided to use a mega potion build, so my only healing ability was on cooldown because I just healed the damage dealers, one time I did managed to heal him, not really because the moment my healing potion was off cooldown he just dash up in the air while he was low and completely avoided the potion, so at that point I got mad, he kept shitting on me, even though I explained that the ability was on cooldown, we also did not have a tank that game, It was casual play btw. I think not having a tank was the bigger problem, because my healing numbers was okay.
Sometimes people don't understand that the more they scream at their healer the less inclined they are to heal them. Thats the reason why a lot of supports heal dps or tanks because at least most of those can look after the healer.
Kind of surprised Hi-Rez isn’t taking this opportunity with people not being happy with overwatch, to push hard with paladins, seems like a good money making opportunity. Though I guess considering the effort to fix everything, maybe they just don’t want to bother.
I thought about that the last days... I don't think paladins just can't grab that hype. When we are honest, Ow is dead for years now, poeple were excited for Ow2 because of it's PvE-Part and Nostalgia. Paladins just can't make use of it.
That's unfortunately the Hi-Rez signature. Shit out a game with a really interesting premise half-baked and then put in a scientifically optimized minimum of resources to milk the game for everything it's worth. Every property Hi-Rez owns has high potential that is never met because they simply do not care about the games and developers under their purview. At least Paladins didn't get the Tribes treatment.
I've been watching you since OB and i must say you deserve all the respects that you are still making content and trying to save the game. I started playing Paladins shortly after they removed the VIP system and quitted around 2020 because of the bugs. But i still watch a lot of your videos because its giving me hope that the old times of Paladins will come back. Much love!
I haven't played Paladins in years (left the game with around a 1000 hours in) and this popped up on my homepage. I cannot express the joy I felt at knowing Payload is back but I admit I flinched at the bugs and lag. Not surprising, no, but I wasn't psychologically prepared. This is a superbly well made video, I'm definitely going to check out the rest of the channel
As someone who used to played a lot on switch and doesn't have a pc, I'm going to miss this game. This was one of the games I played during the pandemic and had a lot of fun playing it. I was getting back to playing it after I graduated, but now I just learned about the news about the shutdown, so I'm gonna spend this last patch playing more of it. I'm gonna miss you Paladins on Switch, you were one fun game to me.
You can actually prevent the Betty no weapon bug. During the character selection screen, if you notice betty doesn't have a weapon in hand, just switch her skin (you can switch just the weapon skin and you can switch back to what you had) and you won't have the bug.
As someone who has been wounded enough by Overwatch, I am exciting to get into Paladins. Sure there are bugs and its own issues but OW has had its own also. I have only dipped my toes in but I look forward to playing more.
Same, I came from overwatch, and paladins just feels much smoother and more diverse than overwatch although there's so many people I don't even remember half of the ult lined yet
Raven drops a video, and Hi-rez bringing probably the best update we have ever seen yet. Huge maps (like literally 3 maps in one times 3). Decent buffs and nerfs New game Mode (more like an amplified siege) Onslaught and King of the Hill now separate. I think he got some prophecy or something that makes it that the game actually gets better right after uploading, kinda hilarious.
Speaking about the gold inflation/hero-buying issue, as a new player I have actually found it pretty forgiving---the reasonable cost of $10 gets like 10 champions (several "meta"), and like 330,000 gold to buy specific other good champions. Combined with the tutorial gold and the starting champs I have had no problem getting all the meta champions that looked fun to me, and I still have like 250,000 left for when I get curious about anyone else to add to my repertoire. For reference, on tank I have Inara, Barik, Torvald, Azaan, Ruckus, Makoa; for dps I have BK, Tyra, Drogoz, Viktor, Lian; for flank, Vatu, Lex, VII, Andro, Maeve; for heals there's Grover, Jenos, Furia... I'm probably forgetting a bunch too. But suffice to say it isn't a problem if you know what you're doing; I feel like $10 is more than reasonable considering the game itself is free. The problem would be for people who don't watch content to find out good champs before buying. So yes, I think it'd be a good idea to make a gold-spending guide for those players!
Evil Mojo addressed the issue of so many champs being 60k gold in the last update show! Some champs will be moving down a tier to become more affordable 60K>30K and some are 30K>15K. Also for the veteran players they released a new kind of cosmetic, custom loading screens costing 20k gold each
started playing since mal'damba release and quitted at about corvus release because it started to became unplayable to me due to lag or bugs that i never experienced at the start. your videos always make me want to return to play the game since i've never found a "substitute" that could make me feel the same sensations as Paladins
@@gustavovargas8716 still playing occasionally and for fun ty for asking! as i said only casual cuz i feel that ranked is populated atm with the people that still tryhard, and even though i reached masters back in season 2 iirc, i just don't want to invest time again into meta, drafting, deck bulding and all that stuff (add the fact that i play with friends that are lower rank and queueing in rank is not that fun for us). however, playing casually is still so much fun and brings back nostalgia
I'd actually like to give some insight as a professional Network Engineer, having worked in web hosting, and as a former Smite player. Hi Rez had a working relationship with INAP all the way back in the days of Tribes. They built most of their projects on INAP servers and INAPs network. Many of the stability, security, and connection issues were due to INAP. INAP was notorious in the industry for having poor server reliability and poor network management. I once diagnosed my connection issues going to their game servers and they replied that it must've been my ISP, even though I had active pings running to Google, Cloudflare, and their own website. None of them dropped traffic, but we had poor match stability and connection issues. Now you might ask...if Hi Rez knew the servers and network were bad, why would they keep working with INAP? Well the answer is that the CEO of Hi Rez and CEO of INAP were long time friends. They even admitted this in an old article back in 2013. Smite kept using INAP because of bias. They could've move to other providers with a similar size and access, and had better results, but chose to keep going with the provider responsible for giving their players and customers a poor experience. Finally.... for the hacker. It's most likely a former employee. If their initial security was poor and a sever admin or backend developer had the know how and motive, they could mess with their infrastructure for a long time before anyone even found out how they were doing it. They would know exactly what they don't look at and and precisely what to exploit. That's why they ban them, but they just keep coming back, sometimes on the same account. I left Smite because Hi Rez is the maker of their own problems. They often refused to listen to their community and customers, and made what they wanted only. As a perfect example, take a look at Realm Royale. They took all the initial feedback that players and streamers had that normally played Fortnite, but were enjoying the game and they overhauled it into the ground. They ignored every piece of feedback given to them. They literally removed positive aspects of the game and put in the exact opposite. lol no wonder the player base died and the matches that run today are full of bots.
As someone currently going through the death of Overwatch in real time, it's nice to see this and know I'm not the only one suffering. Hard to be a fan of hero shooters in 2023...
Make it make sense. You cry about OW not getting PVE. So you move to another PVP game that arguably has more issues. I know hating on OW is trendy, but attempt to think for yourself on occasion.
Thanks Raven. You always give me hope for my favorite hero shooter. You're 100% correct about loving the "idea" of Paladins, because it has SO MANY shining moments. The aesthetic, the game feel, all of it is great when it works. I just hate it when it doesn't and it's so frustrating when it happens back to back to back when you just wanna get a game or two in. I absolutely love Paladins, but it's probably my most uninstalled game I own. Thing is, I always reinstall it.
great video! ive been playing paladins for 6 years and agree with everything you said. this also feel like the most positive state of paladins video inna while and im glad to see that. hopefully they keep progressing in a good way and alot of the problems that you mentioned gets fixed
As a person who has played Paladins for a considerable amount of time (500+hrs or something), oh boy did this game almost KILLED my laptop with the freezing bug, kinda the main reason I quit in the first place. I'm still kinda sad that these issues are still occurring, but I still really appreciate you spending your time making these videos still trying to save this game, keep it up!
Overwatch is on the decline, and the free game market is getting so stale THIS is literally HI-REZ chance to shine, it's given to them on a silver platter. It's like the stars aligned and gave them this chance, if they can make a comeback, it's now!
I really hope they do. I started playing a few months before the end of beta and I miss having fun in game but I haven't played in a while from all the server issues and bugs. I'm probably gonna play again next week but it won't be the same.
Overwatch going free to play really age like milk when everyone thought it will kill it. After their own bugs, lack of good meaniful content, pay to win heros, and canceling and trying to sell pve at its current state, ya paladins once again survived for now.
What i feel about paladins casual matchmaking is basicly 3 games of making u feel good and then stomping u back down to earth for anothee 2-3 games. Then rince and repeat
Hey Raventric! I ended up grabbing some coffee, sitting down and single session binging this video as I did with The Tragic History of Paladins video. Excellent job editing and taking everyone through this story that is the love/hate relationship of Paladins. I have only played paladins for about 3 years and very casually with only 650 hours. I will say though, I am surprised that you didn't comment on the rotating out of the Onslaught/KOTH game mode. I feel like it was a big hit to friends and my brother and I who played daily as that was our go to. I know a lot of other people that were at a loss for this decision. While I understand bringing back payload was a big deal I really miss Onslaught. I don't play paladins anymore sadly. Nor do my friends or brother. Mainly because we don't enjoy other game modes as much. You nailed the bug sections of the video and the server issues. I hopped back on the other day and my first game of payload I was rubber banding and actually had my first experience with a ton of hit reg issues. Uninstalled after that game as it was giving me flashbacks to Sea of Thieves and the countless hit reg and lag/rubber banding. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't want to be a party to the same downfall and complete unplayable nature that SOT is suffering from. While I realize it isn't the same thing, I have opted for TF2 instead. Boy does my time feel well spent nowadays, been loving it. Anyway, if you are reading this congratulations once again on another banger of a video! I will continue to watch whatever you put out. I hope that by you continuing to play paladins you don't cook your brain dealing with all the bs and keep having fun!
It is definitely not. Overwatch 2, for all it's problems, still averages 800,000-1,200,000 daily players. Team Fortress 2, a 15 year old game at this point, averages around 65,000-75,000 players. Paladins currently has 9,143 average for June of 2023, with a June peak of just over 13,000. In other words, all of TF2 could quit TF2 and join Paladins, along with a solid 1/3rd of Overwatch 2 players, and Paladins STILL wouldn't be the most popular hero shooter game.
@@cesar6447 Overwatch 2 increased their player base by 8.5%. It turns out I was using Oct 2022 numbers, as in June of 2023, their average was 1.892M players a day. Paladins, in that same time frame, had 9,143. Overwatch is not falling, and Paladins has barely recovered to it's previous level from 3 years ago.
Started playing this game about 5 years ago and fell in love with it! Haven't played in the last 12 months.... watching this has made me not so upset about it 😅
It's lots of fun, when you don't play with randoms. Even if these are not real friends, and just people you have grabbed on over of the discord servers
Here is an another one I'm sure not everyone is aware of. Evil mojo decided to remove the SEA/Singapore server without telling us anywhere in patch notes or social media. Add it to the list.
I played paladins for several years, and i wanted to enjoy it more and more. But you see... my main was.. Maeve.. character oriented around mobility, double jump and dashes. And when i got to play the game, neither of those, oh god, difficult features (As jumps and dashes) didnt work properly. I was getting killed SECONDS after dashing away, where i was before the dash. Constant cacelation of second jump and from time to time jumping not working at all made me a knife throwing bag of dmg for my enemies. Thanks Hi-rez for high qua;ity servers!
I have to say only 2 things about this video 1. great work, keep it up! 2.I did not "fall" for the metal gear rising poem, in fact i recognized it after the very first line, it was a mistake of you to assume no cultured people were going to watch this
While playing Ying in the siege yesterday, I teleported to the point before the next round started... I just used an illusion in the last seconds and when I was in the spawn I used teleport. I love Paladins but they could fix some bugs.🥰
@@l0kk016 And to be fair I spent about half my time in bot matches, either to test silly loadouts or just easily complete daily quiests. The other half I'm in quickplay, paired with fresh-installs lvl 2 Viktor insta-locker that sprint in the dead-center of the enemy team filled with 1k+ hours players... Yeah, I think I'll stick with the bot matches for when I wanna have fun in this game...
When it comes to glitches, im playing on xbox and the only real annoyance is sweaty soldier 76 ripoffs or tony the tiger deciding my frosted flakes aint getting a win, apart from that no issues involving gameplay here
I played Paladins years ago, then I bought Overwatch and abandoned the game. I came back when OW2 came out and ruined Overwatch, and then I quit playing Shooters all together. Now it's just Single Player Games, Smite, Hearthstone, And Heroes of the Storm. Also, Moji is the best champion, and there is literally no way to change my opinion.
The bugs and crashes got me mad surprised because i havent gotten any on like +50 games aftet gettin back into it. (I believe alot of it can be fixed by making the game into 32-bit, it helped me and my friends when we couldnt launch the game sometimes might help crashes)
I've played for about 30 hours and have only experienced one crash. No server lag, no bugs, etc. and it's been great ^^ Hopefully it stays that way. The bugs you showed in this video were crazy, so I am glad I only do unranked. I have my issues with it but it is a really enjoyable experience for me. Though I have to say I am not a fan of the idea to stop PC players from using controllers. It's how I play, and whatever problems may come of that, they should try fixing them, not removing an entire way to playing. If people are using aim assist paired with M&K then ban them, but aside from that I think it is fine. If they ever removed it or removed controller aim assist, the game would essentially be unplayable for me. I'm already locked to only playing Mercy in OW, so this is an aspect of Paladins that really drew me in. I can actually play other characters in this game x3
I stopped about a year ago when my account got banned for no reason it happened while I was recording a video not doing anything wrong just using troll builds. Recently played a few games and will say I had a good time
So it’s not just me there’s a bog that lets people fall through. I fell through the map. I don’t know how many times in the last few days I mean I even went back and look there’s no hole in the map there there’s no edge of the map there I just I don’t member what I was doing but suddenly I’m falling.
53:50 As a Ramathra main... Ramathra is really fun, It has original voicelines but still his personality is bit boring. Queen has personality... Acceptable personality but Its sooo daaaammmn low quality! Ramatha : Ramatha shoots a laser beam as 1. Form. Which focuses you to hit headshots. And wants you to use the technuiqes. Got a shield, Gets on a muscle form and gets a HEAVY defence when on Right click Muscle mode. He become the WALL. He's a real threat. His punches creates a waves that looks like It punches. So damn cool. Has a slow vortex that can change whole game. Has whooole damn orb thing that pulls the enemies life force. Queen : Infinite muscle form, has litterally same shield. Her punches Create a litterall projectile that you can see. Not really cool. Vortex but... What? Its poorly made? , She has fart gas Idk. Only difference? Ults. And also one of em is really thicc... THATS it... It tries to be A TAG like Overwatch... for R34 Sadly :/
been playing for a long time but not since beta like most people. game got its problems but im still coming back to it time and again. a fiendish disease. i hate it here but man its fun
dude my jaw actually DROPPED when you pointed out the simularities between nyx and ramattra. i was like "WAIIIIIIT. NO WAY THEY JUST COPIED HIM!", because i also just came back again like 2 weeks ago, and when i got to see her in the practice range i didn't think much of her, and just said "eh, she's alriiight", but now i'm in complete shock lmao.
Your management part is SOO true. Part of the reason I think smite is run generally well is because the entire dev team plays the game ALOT so much so that the Devs hold a Dev tournament where they group up and face eachother in a pre tournament before the actual player one. The devs of smite actually play the game and even have hired 3 past pro players and put them on the Dev team. Titan forge (devs for Smite) isn't perfect but they do far better than evil mojo
@@SocialExperiment232 yeah I love paladins far more than overbland. But evil mojo just hasn't been doing a good job lately and it made me drop the game. Hopefully they can talk to titan forge and learn balance or better character design. Because as much as I wish this game was everything I wanted it to be. It is not. But it has potential. If hirez is willing to put in the work to fix it.
@@EazyDoesitxD yeah same. i haven’t played it in over 8 months. The one time I come back (my best friend forced me) I got the healing bug on furia for most of the match and then he and I both got locked out of the game and just literally couldn’t play it. It just sucks how clunky everything is. I personally have been enjoying ow way more and don’t know how people can complain about “lack of content” when paladins teams idea of content is releasing ten skins every patch and ignoring all the player issues. It’s like they don’t deserve their own game. I always wish some other company would buy the game and make it that we all dream it could be. For now it’s just not playable for me ):
@@SocialExperiment232 I'll never play OW again plainly due to my distaste with Blizzard as a company. With that said. I don't think it's that a new company needs to take it over. HiRez does make good games (smite being by far the big one) the issue is just the team (Evil Mojo) idk wtf they are doing there but they think non stop new skins will make people ignore the issues they are actively killing their own game. I think we should try letting Titan Forge (the developer team making Smite.) Take over for 2 months. The way Titan Forge goes about balance and everything is just much better. Granted they are NOT perfect. But there's a reason Smite has millions of players. It's the 3rd most played MOBA despite it being out less than half as long as the top 2. (DoTA & League) I think Evil Mojo needs to be gutted and refilled with people who actually care about the game. Not the people now who just want to spread messages and throw half baked skins at us.
@@EazyDoesitxD i personally think the blizzard hate is overblown by content creators that have never played a different game. They’ll curse blizzard for skin prices but glorify riot which sells 35 usd knifes. They hate ow for “not having content” but go over to tf2 which doesn’t even get updated. They curse ow but run over to Diablo which is also blizzard xD I don’t get the blizzard hate. They don’t do anything that other companies don’t do so if people boycott then they should boycott all other companies cause they’re also greedy and scummy. With hirez tho the problem with letting the Smite team handle Paladins is they would not possibly handle working for two games at once. They’re human one game will begin to lack because the team is focused on the other. Coding games is really hard and takes a lot of hours, they would just not have time to make one game great if they’re focused on both. The reason I say another company should buy them is cause hirez just does not care about paladins at all. They do nothing but ignore the obvious problems it has. If they just invested some money on the servers so players can actually play the game it would be so different. But no they just keep making skins (which have been extremely half assed since the rwby patch) and taking peoples money without giving them anything back. That’s just predatory to the people who keep believing that they’ll eventually fix things when they just wont. Idk I just don’t think they even deserve paladins. This game deserves love not a company that treats it like the red headed two child they don’t even want but are stuck with.
My first impression is that you are playing as Betty La Bomba AND you have her gold skin. That is the most telling thing about any paladins player I think there is.
Hi Rez , the company that is their own worst enemy creating master pieces and slowly ruining them. But every so often when they make 1 good change i do feel like giving them my life savings. 😂😂
Oh boy, get ready for the essay of my rambling thoughts as I was watching this video! I actually haven't seen that Betty bug before, but it looks pretty nasty. Regardless, I think if we look back over the span of Paladins history, we're in a much better state now when it comes to bugs. **The sound bug**™️ is gone, and the game isn't as broken as I remember it being many years ago. There are still some major issues, like Imani's whole existence and the social tab/Steam integration being a buggy mess, but it has gotten better. Paladins will always be a buggy mess, but it's important to acknowledge how far we've come. 14:00 OMG IT ME :D This is actually much worse than it seems because it was directly caused by the infamous abukhalid, the man who singlehandedly held ranked hostage for half a year. I'm still not sure if they fixed what caused his hacking to work, but I know that he's subsided now for over a month. Last I heard, they scared him off through the threat of legal proceedings. The community is honestly one of the best reasons to stick around in this game. I've met so many amazing people over the years, and it's always fun to log on and play Paladins with friends. There are definitely some bad eggs, but what community doesn't have them? As far as the new partner program is concerned, I would like to say that as a partner, I'm super happy with the program. I can't go into detail on all that happens regarding the server and interactions with devs because they make us sign NDAs, but I can say that it's been a great experience. They do consider our feedback, and I myself have directly influenced some of the changes that have happened since the new program was founded (a tiny few ofc, but I still contributed! :D). The partner program is like the AOC, but with more transparency and input from more people. Let's be real here, the AOC was just a popularity contest. It wasn't real democracy - the most popular people got in and that's it. The new program also isn't democratic, but the key difference is that much more people are in. It's not just content creators, it's also fan artists, wiki editors, and even influential Twitter accounts. Honestly Raven, I bet you could get in if you applied. Maybe you'll get your check mark too! I finally got mine, and all I had to do is ask Kryptek. Speaking of Kryptek, they're the new community manager and they are absolutely killing it. They're doing a great job keeping the community updated on changes and events, and they're also responsible for those new lore short essays that we see on the website every now and then. Once again, Raven's bad timing with these videos comes into effect. They are actually adding some of the old mobility back to the game! Raven forgot to mention that they buffed air strafing and removed midair inaccuracy at the start of Season 6, which is a buff for all characters (and one that he's the biggest beneficiary of as a Buck main!). On top of that, they brought back Dark Stalker for Andro, and they're also reworking Royal Subjects next patch to grant Bomb King two poppy bombs! Flying Bomb King is back, and better than before! Switch dying is sad, and it's a bittersweet moment for those who somehow managed to love the game while playing on that port. It does suck to see how they mutilated the game to get it to run on Switch, just for Switch to die. It's definitely not due to a lack of effort, but trying to put a buggy spaghetti code mess on terrible hardware was bound to fail anyways. They're starting to restore those old features now, with Brightmarsh being the first old map to get its details restored, coming next patch! Let's hope for even more in the future. Also, they're bringing back alpha siege, so Raven's wish for good maps is also (kind of?) coming true. Those maps are an absolute blast on the PTS, especially Glacier Keep. Let's hope matchmaking doesn't kill the mode in live servers like it did payload. Crossplay ranked is a mixed bag, but I think it's overall a tough decision that had to be made, and a good thing for the game. There are certainly things to hammer out - a fourth ban, input icons for all players in the lobby, and pc aim assist toned way down, but it ultimately has led to better matchmaking and way faster queue times. I've played ranked a ton before and after this change, and have climbed to masters both times (grandmaster in the previous split, still working on it for this split). I've encountered far fewer gold players, and far more diamond players. That's a win in my book! So yeah, it needs changes, but it's a good feature. As a casual Nyx enjoyer, I must say that I'm real tired of this "Ramattra clone" slander. Yeah, the shield is the same but worse, but the rest of the kit just isn't the same. Blizzard doesn't own punching, first of all, and her rift slash is not the same as Ramattra's cc ability. Nyx's slash is a thrown ball that can slide along the ground and cripples with a talent. You charge it up to make it do more damage, and it can detonate midair. Ramattra's grounds people and is more like Damba's gourd - being an arcing projectile that detonates on contact with terrain. Not similar at all. Nyx's aura is also not the same as Ramattra's. The poison is more of an afterthought, with the main feature being a mechanic that's NOT EVEN IN OVERWATCH, NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT. If anything, Royal Presence is more like Petrified Blood from Path of Exile. It spreads out the damage you take over time, making it easier for your healer to heal it back. This compliments her healing passive which grants her more healing when on the point. And of course, you can reactivate it to pull people in or root them. It also has synergy with her ult, which makes it less underwhelming than it otherwise seems. Her ultimate cleanses all of her purple health, basically nixing (heh, see what I did there?) all the damage she would have taken. She can completely cleanse Drogoz ult by using royal presence, tanking the ability, then using her ult to remove all the purple health. Along with the stun, this allows her to play incredibly aggressively, and is really fun. I've played a good amount of both characters, and Nyx just doesn't play the same. Also, the devs do play their own game. I literally played with Srixis and Kryptek the other night for multiple hours when the PTS came out. We discovered a bug live on stream, and to my knowledge it's since been fixed. It was a bug regarding Rei that gave her light speed when a card procced, and in the recent build of the PTS I think it's been stomped out. In conclusion, the game is actually really doing well here in 2023. It's basically been a 180 from how it was in 2022. This time last year, we were deep in the trenches of the sound bug, with awful balance and the release of Betty and Nyx. There was no CM in sight, and a new map hadn't been added for years as Raven remarked in the last video. This year, we have an amazing CM, payload AND alpha siege AND rise of furia back, better air strafing and mobility as a whole, better balance, old details coming back to the game, and a better ranked experience (as long as they continue to iron it out). With Overwatch going through its own OB64 right now, Paladins can definitely see a resurgence if they play their cards right. But, will they? How long can this truly last? I'm honestly just waiting for the next bad change to come, because I know it'll happen sometime. Oh yeah, and fix the servers :D
Took me a while to even understand what the masquerade Vora skin was saying. But after some analysing, I think I understood something like "battre le fer tant qu'il est encore chaud", litterally translated by "hit the iron while it is still hot" --> "don't waste the opportunity". Man, couldn't they hire someone that actually speaks decent french? I already had that issue with Maeve's forced "french accent", but here it's just ridiculous. I don't blame foreigners for not speaking excellent french, it is a difficult language, but even for a native speaker it seems uncomprehensable (took me about 3 minutes). This is why you want good voice actors for your game. To people's information, yes i am french and if HR actually took the time to recruit some french voice actors, you can be sure that i'd apply. Hell i'd even do german or dutch if they wanted, but please, stop butchering such beautiful languages, I beg you HR! Awsome video btw, as always never disapointed, thank you ^^
every time raven uploads a video i reinstall paladins, play 1 match and promptly uninstall the game. I am stupid for having even an ounce of hope for this game that has servers running on 4 rotten potatoes and the willpower of the underpaid overworked employees.
Me and my friends started playing paladins a couple weeks ago after playing it a bit back in the day because of nothin aka no games are good rn at all evrything is boring so yeah its kinda fun and refreshing a bit (overwatch 2 kinda influenced the choice a little bit cuz it being boring and shit might aswell try paladins)
I used to play paladins so much around 2016-2018 but I stopped because at some point it became to glitchy and I haven't touched the game since I would love for the game to receive the rainbow six siege treatment where the only updates are for bug fixes and quality of life, rather than skins and champions
I really do respect you for sticking with this game for as long as you have, but I can't never go back after Cards Reforged and all the countless bugs and server issues... good video though, my man.
if I remember the servers shut down in the update before the anniversary which sucks cuz I was excited to play the game again, all I'm hoping now is that my switch data was connected to my account so that I don't have to grind gold for every single character again, PLUS THEIR 30-60,000 SKINS! I stopped grinding when yagorath came out so that's about 4-5 years of playing
im not playing paladins but if there is something that i like to watch is raventric even though i forgot everything about paladins his videos are so good
I am primarily an Overwatch player. However, I do like to dabble into other Hero Based games like Paladins and Team Fortress 2 as well. I will say Paladins gives a whole fresh take on the hero shooter genre (despite the questionable design of Nyx being like Rammatra though lmao). You are not wrong about the founder's pack thing though. I had to buy it, because, while Maeve will be my favorite champion in the game (Street Justice is just a dopamine hit), I like trying other characters as well. Luckily, the bundle during the time was on sale during the Steam Summer Sale, so it was a huge steal, so if other players like myself who just want to skip that age old grind that badly, I'd say just wait for it to go on sale again this year if it does. Outside of that, the game is genuinely fun to play. I don't find myself having to feel like I am stuck with a bad team. Maybe in higher elos, the team player aspect is more prevalent, but there is a feel of real solo carry/play potential. That is something Overwatch can never EVER have. Sometimes, I find myself playing Talas and 1v1ing the tank with good play, aim, and abusing Overdrive as a tank shredder. You can't do that in Overwatch at all. While Paladins has the bugs and server issues,, you can't get that in any other Hero Shooter. You have as much power as everyone else in the lobby to do solo plays. Especially as someone who is 100% a solo player, I can feel whether I am actually contributing or not unlike Overwatch to where I feel like I have to take a guess unless if it is that painstakingly obvious. I'm speaking as someone who has 90 hours in the game and a
this is something that never really stuck out to me since i've been playing for a long time now. the old (and dog water) currency during ob64 era was turned into gold so i ended up with a shit load of gold that i used to unlock everyone and still had a shit ton of gold after (it was also cheaper back then too). i only use gold now for new champions. seeing newer players having to unlock all the champions is just so painful to see
How is Nyx being similar to Ramattra questionable? She came like a month after he did and was announced even earlier. Evil Mojo probably takes anywhere from half a year to a full year to develop a character, there's no single way she was remotely made as a copy of Ramattra.
On the Rammatra thing, it's not that unique a design, and these characters are designed and implemented over the course of like 9-12 months before hitting the live servers. I wouldn't read into it.
Talus is sooo fun. Flanks are my least played class but Talus is my highest level at like 16. I once 1v1ed a Raum as Talus and beat him without dropping below half health. The ability to make solo plays is amazing, my best are with Drogoz and Dredge. As someone with 300+ hours in game on PC and an entire separate account on PS4, glad to see more people enjoy the game despite the issues.
Yeah. HiRez has the money and manpower. Just take what you have, and essentially redevelop it in UE4 so it can run on lower end stuff. Then, you don't have the Jenga tower/spaghetti code and you can notate the code as you go. AND you'll have the employees who coded the game actually still working there. The concept, characters and kits are all so amazing. They deserve to be elevated like this!
@@Devinthehouse12 it feels fine when it works, and UE3 is very versatile. Mortal Kombat 9/X/11 and the new MK1 are all on UE3, as hard as that may be to believe. Paladins real issue is the spaghetti code Jenga tower. So many pieces were written by people who haven't worked there in years. Those pieces were altered by people who haven't worked there in years. You change an old piece of code to fix a bug and so many things have been bolted on to that segment of the code by new people that it causes 5 bugs to pop up in its place. And none of these people notated the code either. Chunks were deleted, rewritten to allow addition, deleted parts added back in, and all the new mechanics from new champs have been added on top of this base. It's a mess. UE4 is still better choice because it will allow lower end hardware to still get in, it is heavily customizable like UE3, it's shortcomings are asset streaming in LARGE environments (think open worlds), and it even supports bolting on all kinds of modern GPU features very easily. DLSS, RT effects etc. FF7Remake uses a custom UE4 implementation, so it is obviously capable of fidelity. And, if they ever get ballsy, you can import projects from UE4 to UE5 very easily. Unlike UE3 to UE4 which is easy for stuff like meshes, rigs etc. But everything else is a pain in the ass iirc. So I think UE4 would be great, and they can slowly customize it over time to better suit the game, like NRS has done with UE3 and the Mortal Kombat series. That was way longer than I intended lol. TLDR, I agree.
that new player guide for more golds would be sweet. This game always looked fun to play and had attractive ladies but after seeing all that hackers im not sure if i will download it
Ow2 makes me miss old overwatch. Even at its worst I enjoyed it so much better than what it’s at currently. Paladins was always the better 5v5 experience
I reinstalled this game a few times over the years, but it wouldn’t launch. I assumed it was a developer issue and just uninstalled and verifying game files and a few other things. Turns out I had to mess with the config settings. Feelsbadman
I only began playing Paladins a few days ago and the only major bugs ive encountered are the stutter that forced me to close my game, and not being able to close the rewards screen unless i close the app. There was a problem with game crashing too but atleast on console that was fixed by disabling voice chat. Went from crashing 3 times my first day to zero crashes since. Overall definitely buggy, but I've still had more fun than I've had on Overwatch 2 and i love the loadout and item buying mechanics. Hope they focus on fixing bugs so i can actually use voice chat, i want Paladins to thrive.
The queen paladin thing is astonishing when seeing both ramatra and her side by side. Also since I have already ptsd from ow2 mmr, i may not try paladins
bro as a veteran player FOR switch this recent change has hurt so much, especially since i have no clue about the original account details so I cant play on my xbox either...
We did it boyz! Paladins is SAVED! Saved? sav- ? PALADINS HISTORY VIDEO: ruclips.net/video/wsaSgSIcZYQ/видео.html

Honestly overwatch stealing from the fans made my friends and I flee to paladins and we're already having fun. We haven't had fun on overwatch in years.
lol
The fact that people will actually SCREAM at healers like they killed their mother is so concerning. Nobody should ever get THAT angry at a game. Just leave
I've never hear anyone screaming like that in my 3500 hours of paladins to be fair
I think not having a tank was the bigger problem, because my healing numbers was okay.
it's really the same with most support roles in games, people are dumb
authentic experience from xbox live back in the days
Sometimes people don't understand that the more they scream at their healer the less inclined they are to heal them. Thats the reason why a lot of supports heal dps or tanks because at least most of those can look after the healer.
I love watching a single paladins video per year, which is usually 1 hour long and makes me want to play the game even less!
after all of "the state of paladins" we had finally we got the good ending
Ive been waiting for this moment my whole life
Not quite but the road seems promising
Much love!
Quitted
During the character selection screen, if you notice betty doesn't have a weapon in hand, just switch her skin (you can switch just the weapon skin and you can switch back to what you had) and you won't have the bug.
that helps, thank you.

Also for the veteran players they released a new kind of cosmetic, custom loading screens costing 20k gold each
@@Yourietje i didn't see that cosmetic, gotta check it out since I don't have anything left to spend my gold lmao

I went back to the game for a while thanks to your video, I love this game despite everything
I love these yearly installments, just brings a smile to my face.
If someone told me 6 years ago Paladins was gonna be the last Hero Shooter standing...

I've played for about 30 hours and have only experienced one crash. No server lag, no bugs, etc. and it's been great ^^
Hopefully it stays that way.
If they ever removed it or removed controller aim assist, the game would essentially be unplayable for me.

new annual Raventric's vid bout state of paladins 🥰👉👈
ill give the game a try
i like how many heroes there are and i think it would be cool if they remade the game with new engines and on unreal 5
also ill sub! nice video
I actually had like a single crash in around a hundred hours since i returned to the game and not a single laggy game on Eu so far.
i need Play of the match back
dude my jaw actually DROPPED when you pointed out the simularities between nyx and ramattra. i was like "WAIIIIIIT.
That actually explains a lot and I wish they did that for paladins
"I believe Paladins too could do the same."
Paladins 2? Oh God, I just got here, it's happening again DX
My first impression is that you are playing as Betty La Bomba AND you have her gold skin.
That is the most telling thing about any paladins player I think there is.
I have almost every gold skin in the game.
@@Raventric Fair but counterpoint.
You're playing betty la bomba.
The fact that Paladins is somehow killing the game that killed then is the revenge story I never knew I needed
Hi Rez , the company that is their own worst enemy creating master pieces and slowly ruining them. But every so often when they make 1 good change i do feel like giving them my life savings. 😂😂
Its kinda satisfying being memed on for playing paladins back in the day and its now about to be the lasting Overwatch
14:00 OMG IT ME :D
This is actually much worse than it seems because it was directly caused by the infamous abukhalid, the man who singlehandedly held ranked hostage for half a year.
Andrew, thank you for your comment, plenty of insight! As for the application to the new program, they have resolved that issue.
@@Raventric Oh, that's sad. I'm not sure why they would just ignore one of their most prolific content creators like that.
@@AndrewChicken Same :)
Gotta love Unbe malding about stray shots hitting him at all times
Awsome video btw, as always never disapointed, thank you ^^
...that sonic/shadow soundtrack with "I Am All of Me" was a nice touch when you talked about the hacker
every time raven uploads a video i reinstall paladins, play 1 match and promptly uninstall the game. I am stupid for having even an ounce of hope for this game that has servers running on 4 rotten potatoes and the willpower of the underpaid overworked employees.
I love coming back to ravens channel and seeing a new hour long video. Time to get a snack
I used to play paladins so much around 2016-2018 but I stopped because at some point it became to glitchy and I haven't touched the game since I would love for the game to receive the rainbow six siege treatment where the only updates are for bug fixes and quality of life, rather than skins and champions
i didnt watch yet, but if theres no mention of yago bikini skin, im liking out of spite
The bugs, they are not só noticeable in south America server. It's rare to find a game breaking bug. But the fancy ones still are commom
Dang so not only is paladin's dying even more but then OverWatch update 2 just died. How is a Roblox game beating both of them
im not playing paladins but if there is something that i like to watch is raventric even though i forgot everything about paladins his videos are so good
I am primarily an Overwatch player.
I've had some major issues with audio lagging, more than anything. It's frankly sad
Still better than Overwatch 2…
You made me install Paladins again, I was freed from the torment since 2021
But you
your video makes me nostalgic
here I go again...
Paladins just needs a updated engine and graphics, and I think it would knock overwatch out of the park.
@@CheddarGetterUE3 is beyond terrible on paladins. The game feels bad to play compared to other fps games
10:31 it’s actually the Egg Carrier theme from sonic adventure 1. Love the video and agree with your points though!
Ah yes, bugs now is features
that new player guide for more golds would be sweet. This game always looked fun to play and had attractive ladies but after seeing all that hackers im not sure if i will download it
Ow2 makes me miss old overwatch. Even at its worst I enjoyed it so much better than what it’s at currently. Paladins was always the better 5v5 experience
I love the Shadow the hedgehog theme on he backround you are a long lost friend!
I reinstalled this game a few times over the years, but it wouldn’t launch. I assumed it was a developer issue and just uninstalled and verifying game files and a few other things. Turns out I had to mess with the config settings. Feelsbadman
Wait....it's been 6 years already? I remember playing with friends back in 2016, can't believe it's been that long already.
I love the background soundtrack (CAN YOU SEE ALL OF ME ) shadow best
Also the game that has more than paladins and suffers more being tf2 ;-;
