Editor's Note: My edits were all made to keep the video on one, central topic by editing together relevant commentary from many parts of Hasan's streams to create a storyline that is still followable by the viewer. I also edited in commentary of my own in places, in addition to relevant external information that improves the viewing experience. A lot of edits were made for comedy purposes, or to enhance the comedic timing of certain beats, but never to misrepresent Hasan's point of view.

Have you ever considered Britain financed both sides of the Revolutionary war?
      Why
They could distance themselves from slavery and NDN killing. The NDNs and militia picked sides and killed each other. While the regulars sat on the hill and watched. Often the NDNs and militia complained about getting cut to shreds in the crossfire
      Proof
How many founding fathers got hunted down in their sleep and swung from the gallows in London 😮
      More
The plantation and factory owners were English lords. Managers to the monarch

I think those who liked my Separation of Powers video would also take an interest in my older video titled "Why Billionaires Prefer Democrats," which is more of a Marxist analysis. I also have an article that will be published soon in Cosmonaut Magazine titled "Why The Ruling Class Need Not Rule The Capitalist Matrix" which is a much deeper dive into this subject for those interested.
Also, regarding the person in the chat who brought up Lincoln and slavery, Lincoln actually infringed on the Separation of Powers a lot more than most presidents and practically became a "dictator" during the Civil War. FDR was also accused of being "authoritarian" by his adversaries. The fact is, to get anything done in America requires overriding the separation of powers to a certain extent, regardless if what is being done is reactionary or progressive.

One point being lost is that most of those public atheists talking about history did not dispute the Islamic Golden Age, as Hasan had stated around 5:30. It was more nefarious, because the new atheist lesson was that Islam contributed to stultifying numerous cultures into a decline in all areas of life, relative to their previous pagan cultures. Japanese historians also talk about Chinese civilization since the Tang dynasty (golden age) being all downhill as well. Unfortunately, the “decline because of foreign religions” argument is usually a successful method of indoctrination, and particularly hard to break if taught in childhood.

Weakness of the second chamber is in no way defining the parliamentary system. Until the early c20 the Lords could block anything. In Australia the upper house can block anything (IIRC that is true of all states except Queensland). The Japanese House of Councillors can only be over-ridden by a 2/3 majority of the other house. The Netherlands Senate can block.

The whole tone of this video essay is cynical. It’s easy to mock others for having hope in working with a flawed democratic system when your ancestors were not kidnapped, brought here forcibly perform labor, freed themselves through a series of uprisings, worked towards abolition of enslavement, fought for the right to vote, and continued to fight this country for our basic human rights. It’s easy to assume that none of the people who would want some sort of democratic socialist government are African Americans, no. It’s easy to assume we don’t also want universal healthcare, social housing, and a plethora of social services that undergirds our society, no. It’s like some kid just now learned that this country never lives up to its promises. And instead of realizing that the only way this country’s elite has ever done anything on behalf of the people it’s because we made them, instead decides the whole system is 💩and posts an essay about it on YT.

Separation of powers also gives more freedoms to the individual, without such “undemocratic” systems we would easily have “mob rule” or “tyranny of the majority” and unless you trust that government and cops will protect you in a moments notice, totalitarianism isn’t always a good thing..
