100% a 7-8" PDW would be very ideal. I suppose I should get on the ball about testing 7.5FK against armor, because it's likely not as good as FK is making it out to be. It's one thing to defeat a 100% Aramid IIIA as it tends to fail to velocity above 1600 fps, but many manufacturers are making hybrid IIIA panels that incorporate UHMWPE, and that material is able to stop a lot of velocity and some bullet construction.

In a PCC, PDW or SMG, this is awesome. Could also be useful as a bear gun or PDW replacement where space or concealment is critical. A use case could be as a tanker, helicopter or aircraft sidearm, where a person could have some serious punching power even against rifles. In general, I would still stick to the larger, longer barreled, older brother for such cases.

I've owned the full size PSD for afew years now and it's amazing. It's an absolute hand cannon. This thing can drill through 1/4 inch mild steel targets at 50 yards and is very easy to hit at that range. Having 17 rounds of 7.5fk at my disposal gives me a ton of confidence in my ability to accurately stop a threat as quickly as possible if, God forbid, I was ever thrust into such a situation where it became necessary.
While I can EDC the full size without issue, being able to get my hands on the PSD-C for better concealability would be nice.
However, I would absolutely LOVE to see a well done PDW, and even a PCC, chambered in 7.5fk. I think if a manufacturer can put out a quality version of both or either one of those then this round is gonna really take off in popularity. IMHO, it is the pinnacle of modern pistol calibers.

This new round and pistol is the most exciting thing ive seen in a decade. They need to make 7.5fk carbine with a 7.5inch barrel n call it the 7.5FKU 😂. I mean 900ftlb handguns with 9mm capacity and closer to rifle speeds? Yes and thank you! Ide be saying of F##K you to seeing what it can do first hand lol. Im waiting for more people to adapt the 7.5fk if its doing what its doing out a 5inch barrel its probably gonna be a pretty fast powerfull round out of pcc or sbrs with 7 to 10inch barrels. I mean 900ftlb already only a couple hundred ftlb less than 556, a little more barrel length and you could have a pistol caliber sized package with pistol sized caliber recoil thats putting out full sized 556 rifle power which is really cool. Heck ide say theres a chance that 7.5fk out a 12 or 13inch barrel would be putting out more power than 556 out the same barrel length which is a hell of alot of energy in a pistol caliber

While I'm glad that it exists, I don't foresee it capturing too many hearts and minds. Offering it in tandem with a 10mm barrel helps some justification, but 7.5FK will probably end up in the same lot as 9x25 Dillon, a niche round that can zip a 9mm projectile to lower end rifle speed but never took the market like it could have. There's a precious few manufacturers making either conversions for 10mm AR parts or 10mm PDWs that would be more easily converted with the right support, but man, ammo prices are everything with wildcat calibers on whether a good idea gets legs or relegated to fun range cannon/safe queen.

the gun will proly become a niche collectable, but never used seriously.
although the round will probably stay, novelty can get a few people to try new rounds but, math and performance will keep the round a goin long past the niche phase.
getting m1 carbine ballistics out of a pistol, will definitely keep the round goin, but its prolly gonna need it own flux raider brace for stabilization, if stable its definitely a 150-200 yard gun.

  • @zahjav

Finally! A true replacement for 30 carbine!
    Edit:
PDWs get a bad rap due to the limitations of the 9mm round. 9mm is pretty darn useful in handguns, suppressed guns, and being a cost effective round. But pretending you will reach out and tap something at 200 yds is kinda a bad idea. But there is decent reason to have something that can do that: when you dont have the legal ability to own a banned rifle platform. Something like this in a m1 carbine or ruger mini 14 type chassis would be a life saver for people who want something small, relatively innocuous, but packs more punch without being harder to shoot, and not having an aggressive defensive posture. Better yet, its less intimidating than a shotgun while being more ergonomic to novice gun owners who want something a bit easier to handle and confidence inspiring than their handgun. The only downside is that it would SUCK to suppress. The speed is key to its performance and i doubt subsonic loads would retain the ballistic advantages for nearly as far.
Also, someone PLEASE make a version of this that accepts 357 moulds. Would be a bit of a bear to shoot in such a small package, but damn, you could probably make it a truck gun to take out small to maybe even medium game in a pinch, as long as you were close enough.

The PSD is the better version of this gun, it has a solid use case. It'd makes a good trail gun to carry on long hikes in places that MIGHT have mean things that travel on 2 legs AND 4. Lugging along a long-gun in the highly unlikely chance you need it is just bulk and weight. I think it'd also make a fine option as a woodland hunting pistol, if that's your thing. That's not me, but some people like it. But the C version, I don't know.
Sure, it's a little more compact for daily carrying, but not dramatically more compact, and the use case for most people, probably isn't there. Think about what the typically daily carry gun might need to do. Does this fill the bill? Sure, but there are better guns for this use case.
As pointed out, my biggest concern should a bad situation get "badder," is worrying about what might be behind my target. The potential of hurting someone who I don't want to be hurt is always a concern. This round at self-defense ranges just adds one more variable to that equation. Can I know what might be hidden from sight behind him? That's more of a concern to me than worrying about whether the bad guy has body armor on.

Always skeptical of high velocity light grain handguns. G9 has a 80 grain 9mm pushing 1500 fps? And you don't need a new gun to do it. But if you dont tune the twist rate perfectly, or if there too much variety in grains (300 BO issue with subs and supers), you could ruin the accuracy of the gun. The G9 ammo is known for throwing rounds completely differently than standard 9mm because of its much lighter design. I'm worried that this might have caused your accuracy issues at range.

You guys didn't mention why most people would really want one of these... besides just one upmanship, the biggest practical reason is for carry in grizzly or polar bear country, one of the only applications that really needs both massive penetration and energy delivered to the target. A small pdw with a 9" bbl, no stock or brace, but front and rear sling mounts under 4bs with a p90 style high cap top mag, would either fit in a holster, or carrying nicely on a sling while still being able to carry a pack and use hiking poles. The extra weight they put under the barrel to compensate for recoil is just dumb, they should use that weight for more bbl llength, and more mag cap with a top mag. Make it ultra low bore axis like the laugo alien too. All that is possible, would be the perfect gun for bear defense excepting longguns, and would also create a gun that would have a lot of cool factor and wider appeal to hunters, and the tacti cool crowd. THe only part that seems like a huge jump is the high cap top mag. That would be cool, but not a dealbreaker to just have normal mags in the grip.

So $1600 for a CZ75 in a fancy crazy expensive round for "armor penetration". I think it might defeat 2a but not 3a armor. Also who needs a 200 yard range for a handgun? Handguns are and have always been designed to use sub 50 yards.

It's a pretty decent departure from the CZ but it's definitely "inspired by". It's likely going to be closer to $1300 or $1400 but I agree that it's a very niche pistol

50k PSI handgun rounds aren't common, but are otherwise non-existent in semi-auto handguns.
Even the 429DE maxes out at 46Kpsi. In a 10" barrel it runs right at 1800fps & 1900fps (210gr, 240gr). I can't remember what it runs out of a 6" barrel, but about 100 to 120 fps less I think.
The point is that typical handgun rounds don't run the pressures necessary to make this gun what it is.
I wonder what 357 Sig could have done running 50k psi for instance. (It runs about 40K I think...)
I wonder if I cound chamber a Desert Eagle in this caliber... Hmm.

    • @UnderBakedOverEngineered
      @UnderBakedOverEngineered 7 дней назад

      @@ARFCOMReviews
Oh not 8.6 actual, just the concept of high energy via rotational energy with low velocity and high (fragmenting) mass. Excellent terminal ballistic results and significantly limited over penetration through off-target barriers, similar to the best parts of .223/5.56 without the concussive blast.
Agreed that even .338 Spectre or .338 ARC is too long, and we'd probably want a straight wall case design to maximize the thrust surface. So probably some variant of 10mm or .45 Super cut down to minimize case volume.
The two main problems, as I see it are:
      1. Finding pure copper bullets short and heavy enough.
      2. Generating sufficient force for it to reliably hit maximum subsonic velocity in a 4"-5" barrel without excessive unburned power. Ideally, not resorting to semi-exotic solutions (steel hybrid or all steel cases).
Stick a short (1 or 2 baffle) whisper pickle and brace chassis and you'd have a very practical PCC for people not in a proper war zone.

    • @electric_boogaloo496
      @electric_boogaloo496 3 дня назад

Good old .45 ACP is already that round. When you are limited to subsonic velocities, you have to make up for it in bullet weight and 220 grains in .45 ACP comparable to .300 blackout subs.
Yeah its not a sleek boat tail super long bullet, but it has to fit inside the pistol grip, and have reasonable magazine capacity. If BC and bullet drop become a factor, you should be shooting supers in a long rifle anyway.

Most definitely, with it being made here in Texas now as well (and having a newer pistol able to utilize it), we might just get what it promised all those years ago.

I mean sure, it'll defeat IIa, but no one really wears that anymore.
The reason it works is mostly due to bullet construction - it's got monolithic copper bullets. Which are naturally much harder than lead.
This, in combination with the high velocity, makes it very penetrative.
But the compact version loses a lot of that velocity with its shorter barrel compared to the full size. I would not count on it consistently defeating IIIa with the compact.
