    Just ran the colorized version of The Bishop’s Wife last night and It’s A Wonderful Life the night before, so this interview is a special treat for me. As a Catholic, I’m so glad to hear that the lovely Loretta Young took her faith so seriously, may she rest In peace. We could sure use more of that in Hollywood today. Thanks, John and Karolyn! Merry Christmas to you both!

      @@SweeetSue Why? What on earth is wrong with the original black and white? Fat chance of a colorized version on DVD, though.

    What a wonderful interview! Karolyn is a delight with such marvelous stories. So down to earth and honest. Onion gas in the eyes? Really? Talk about child abuse! Lol. John Wayne was my dad's favorite actor. So happy she had good memories of him.

      @@ThatsClassicTV What's interesting too is that the actor who portrayed the young George Bailey working in Gower's Drug Store in It's a Wonderful Life is the same actor who challenged little Debbie to the snowball fight in The Bishop's Wife.

    Here is a great story. Used to live in Chelsea MI. There was a place called 'Zuzu''s entirely based on the movie. Used to love eating there with the kids in Downtown Chelsea. Jeff Daniels, BTW, often visited the place.
    Incidentally, the website is still there so I assume it's still running.

    Excellent interview as always. You have great skills at it. This has been my favorite movie for many years. I just saw the man who played Tommy on an interview just a week ago. He played the younger boy who burped. His eyes were the same. He shared that this year the lady who played Janie couldnt make their annual gathering done each year in Seneca Falls NY. Karolyn had the great trivia.

      Thrilled you enjoyed it Sue. I always loved the movie myself😀sad to hear the woman who played Janie passed away. Karolyn brought back so many great memories of a time long gone.

    Interesting that she says David Niven didn't like children yet at the time of filming Bishop's Wife he had two sons aged 4 and 2. Later Niven and his second wife adopted two girls. Maybe Karolyn misread a moody Niven. He was upset about his having to switch characters but also his first wife had died tragically only the year before (1946). Niven could've also been put off by her demeanor or something (he misread her).
    On another note: are you able to interview Linda Henning from Petticoat Junction? Maybe just a dream.

    Why does it take so long to post an interview like this bc she said she will be 83 and she was 83 July 4th...is it bc of editing?

    • @ThatsClassicTV
      @ThatsClassicTV  8 месяцев назад +1

      A couple things, I decided I wanted this for Christmas and also I only post every two weeks or so. Therefore I also try to be backed up with my interviews as I never know when they will come in.

      @@ThatsClassicTV that answered my question, thank you, It's A Wonderful Life is my all time favorite movie, I saw it in the early 70's when it was released to NBC and I remember sitting on the edge of the bed so I wouldn't fall asleep bc it was a long movie and I had a small child so I was very tired from caring for him that day, my husband.fell asleep but I made sure to stay up and watch the full movie and I've been hooked ever since, thank you for a wonderful interview, I enjoy all of them....
