An angel gets it’s wings every time Will Catcheside used the word “geometry”
On the down side if he uses the word shape , a baby rhino dies ..
Hahaha 🤣 that really actually happens?! 😅😂 thanks for the comment Matt! Hope to see you again on the next video!
@@UKBladeshow I hear it’s very true . So we must all support Will to continue to say it as much as possible! Shoot a loud Cheer of “GEOMETRY “ with a flagon of ale !!
Also I wanted to say excellent editing , the sequence with the hammer strike in sink with the music was great and not lost on me !
@@mattsimmons3259 wow thanks for noticing that! Those parts are actually the ones that take the most of my time during edit. I have tried to procrastinate or better yet, tried to avoid doing them but I thought Jesus wouldn’t be happy if I didn’t edit the hammer in sync with the beat so here we are 🤣
@@UKBladeshow it’s really cool and I noticed it so keep doing it ! It may get easier if you Do it a lot ?🤣
Hahaha thanks. But yeah, you may be correct there. See you again on the next video!
I definitely need to try some of the techniques that will is using love those dies he has for the tier hammer
I was in complete awe witnessing this Les! I am so glad I can share this series with you all! Thanks for the comment Les! Speak to you again soon!
Japanese smiths frequently forge at lower temperatures. They also often have 40-50 years experience doing it though.
Cheers for the feedback! Yes, cold forging is definitely something that requires a lot of talent/skill and expertise! Hopefully you’ve enjoyed watching the video! Don’t forget that this is a whole series so please feel free to watch the other videos so you can see the whole forging process! Thanks!
Amazing videos always very interesting and well put together
Cheers Simon! Glad you enjoy our style of videos! Have you also seen the rest of the series?
@@UKBladeshow not all of them but slowly working my way through them
What’s the advantage of cold forging the material? I’ve never really understood that process.
All the best
Andy
Primarily surface finish, on the final forging the blade is left to cool slowly , so it is in its softest annealed state. Scale is removed then very final forging is done cold, makes it look pretty with nice smooth hammer marks, and smooths the forging of the geometry the rest of the way to your optimal dimension. This way I get very even bevel without too much pitting from scale forged in. In soft clad material it also squeezes the cladding down more than the core material , more core showing after its ground. You will hear it’s also refining the grain. This may be true, but modern steels I find best to use heat cycling for this part.
Cheers Will! Couldn’t have been said better! I appreciate your response!
@@fartboxdisco7048 Thanks that’s very interesting. Will have to give it a go one day.
All the best
Andy
Waiting for the next instalment Sir. Good stuff !!
Glad to see you enjoyed it! Don’t forget to check out Part 1 & 2 as well bud!
@@UKBladeshow I have not had chance to watch them all yet, have some exciting stuff going on with my channel keeping me busy, but for you Sir, I will make the time
Coolio! I better go and check out your channel tomorrow then!
amazing video as always, have you thought about doing any videos on mainly fit and finish, im always interested in how people do it
Hi Shaun! Thanks for the comment! Very interesting on fit and finish but can you kindly elaborate a bit more to help me understand which part of the process you want to see more of?
@@UKBladeshowjust all of the handle making process really
You know what, handle making is surprisingly a really hot “search topic” within RUclips. My most popular “searched” video is me making a handle, which is really odd as it’s not as visually pleasing to watch as forging but equally important! I will plan a proper video on this if that’s the case! Thanks for the shout Shaun and speak to you again soon!
