I went with a Lowbrow bolt-on hardtail. The axle was long enough but the stock swingarm spacer was too long. It wasnt 3/4, 11/16 or 5/8, it was 17mm that i bought a spacer kit off of E-bay.Good video and i will be keeping an eye on your progress. Mine is a 76 , right shift, left brake, but i'm going to reverse it. Edzilla64

The bike has been completely done since the beginning of last year. Then it won at last year's Ratrodtober in McKinney Texas. This is video number 2. The rest of the build videos are on my channel and the finished bike. Thanks.

21" front, the rear wound up being a chrome 18 x 2.5" with disc brake on the finished bike. There's other videos of this bike finished on my channel. This one was still early on.

So I see I’m a few years late, but it looks like you ran into the same issue I did with the axle. I’m running the stock rear wheel/drum brake and the axle and axle collar won’t fit. I shaved mine down to fit inside the axle slot on the hardtail, but it feels extremely sketchy. I watched your next video where you covered what wheel you ended up going with.
Nonetheless; I’m still going to run the stock wheel. Did you ever come across any other solutions to fix the axle issue?

Nope, once the owner decided to go with a modern wheel with a 3/4 axle I never looked back. I do remember asking a lot of people about the issue with little options. Other than having a machine shop make a new custom axle out of 4140 steel bar stock. But at that point we decided on switching to the new style billet hub. I know some people want to keep their bike era correct, but I was just done foolin with it.

@@guywilsonwelding I don’t blame you at all. It sounds like the safest choice to switch to disc anyways.
