I love your art. I am in the US and follow an artist Misha Ambrosia who to my knowledge is not on RUclips. I am always curious about your past as have you always had this talent or developed over the years? I admire any of the talents drawing and painting of any artists.
Hi Helen - didn’t know you did on line classes - sounds interesting 😊- are they suitable for someone who struggles to start a painting / put paint to paper or canvas? How prescriptive are the classes? And if you miss some of the classes, are the recordings available? TIA 😊
Hi Tricia, this is my first dabble into online classes, and I am loving it so will definitely be doing more of them. The classes are fully recorded and are yours forever once signed up. I asked my students your questions to get it from the horses mouth so to speak. These are a couple of answers for you: Hi Helen, I'd say yes to their questions as I fit into those categories, too. I'm enjoying the course and I've certainly learned a lot. I've found it challenging at times, as I'm not an accomplished artist, but I'm enjoying the journey. I would say that they will certainly help them get going. But maybe by looking and listening carefully and using the follow up recording as a guide to work at their own pace. I have found that although I have been painting for many years they are showing a different approach to painting a landscape. The class is quite prescriptive with all doing the same painting and following you, but it is providing more weapons in the painting armoury for the future. This includes preparation of the canvas, the ‘mechanics’ of determining the ‘sweet point’ , under-painting, building up layers, limited palette, to quote you ‘paint going for a walk around the painting’ and taking time to creatively achieve what you can see on the photo before you. It doesn’t stop personal frustration at times but that can be worked through and I guess that is all part of the artistic journey! It is also excellent to have you available to answer any questions that we have. I have rambled on a bit but hope some of it may be of use! Jeanette My next series of classes will be Painting a Spring Landscape and will be out around March time.
And another: Jeanette has answered the questions very succinctly and I would have little to add. Helen is very supportive and offers great detail in guiding us through the technical processes. I would recommend! Thank you Helen.
@@helenalicejohnsonartist Thankyou for answering my questions Helen (and Jeanette😊) - it sounds like there is a lot of support and guidance 😊 Will these workshop classes be available as recordings at a future date? And how can I receive notification of the ‘Spring landscape’ workshop when it’s available please? - I found out about this one by pure chance really.
@ Hi Trish, if you subscribe to my mailing list you will definitely be kept up to speed with everything I am up to. And yes, I do intend to put them on as recordings. Again, subscribe to my mailing list and I’ll announce when they are available. 😊 www.helenalicejohnsonartist.com/
That painting works very well Helen.
Thank you John
