    Enjoyed the gold, but the gold hog pan takes too long.

    I used to run a suction dredge on the north fork of the middle fork of the AR back in 1980/81/82. No real regs about it back then. Finding significant paying quantities of gold even with a dredge was no easy task, I cannot imagine how you guys can do it without one. Much respect.

      I remember the last dredge I saw in CA before the no dredging laws took effect. It was off misquito road outside foresthill CA.

      @@goldenratio5117 Yup...that's where we used to run ours....about three miles upstream from the crescent bridge at the bottom of the ravine on Mosquito Ridge Rd. It was crazy back then...dredges everywhere...lots of shady paranoid people....everyone was armed.

      @@johnshaft5613 I found an abandon miners camp in El dorado forest really recently ... I wasn't aware of much gold in that specific area. The strange thing is there was a lot of stuff left. And a bear had rummaged through some stuff also.
      Got the feeling he could have been attacked by a cougar or bear. Gonna go back and investigate, I also think if he was mining for a while he may have stashed his color somewhere away from camp.

    You might not know, but it's "hands and pans" only in Auburn State Recreation Area now - no shovels, screwdrivers etc.

      I wonder why those other people were there busting up bedrock with chisels and crowbars? I guess that they did not get the memo either. Thank you for the heads up.

      @@dmozonnersepicoutdooradven3524 I don't know. It's here: www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=502 about halfway down the page under "Gold Panning Regulations" - I just don't want to see anyone get fined.

    • @MatthewJoyceAUS
      @MatthewJoyceAUS 5 лет назад +2

      @Nevada Wildside Exploration Yeah I don't agree with it, I just don't want to see anyone get fined. The muddy water from panning thing made me laugh too.

    My son in law's father made a living at dredging the American River for gold. He actually did very well right up until he passed away. He even left a nice little pile of nuggets to my son in law. I think I'd rather just pan than use the dredge hog. I want to try some panning this summer. Nice days work! Best wishes.

    • @Kevin-ow3oc
      @Kevin-ow3oc 5 лет назад +2

      I agree with you. The act of panning is theraputic. The process of working down a pan of material into black sand and then on to the reveal is very relaxing. Theres no such thing as a bad day panning!

    Great section of The North Fork of The American River. There is a old road on the other side of the river , and a trail on the side you are on two turns up the road that leads to the creek downstream, see ya out there .

    Nice demonstration of the gold hawg but it seems to me your just adding another step by having to take it apart and clean up the mat rather than just classifying directly into the gold Pan. Thanks guys for another great adventure.

    Fill a bucket with the black sands. Take them home and run them through a shop vac hose. We specialize in black sands.

  • @MrRickHerron
    @MrRickHerron 5 лет назад +7

    I’m going to have to give the gold Hog a thumbs down. I can pan way faster than that. Also I don’t have to tear anything apart it just takes way too long.

    • @dmozonnersepicoutdooradven3524
      @dmozonnersepicoutdooradven3524  5 лет назад +3

      What we did not show you was that you can process an entire 5 gallon bucket worth of material in about 15 minutes. Then you take it apart and clean it out. We had time constraints. Sorry if we confused you. The Gold Hog does work though.

    • @stevepd1
      @stevepd1 5 лет назад +4

      In all fairness, you don't have to take the gold hog apart to clean it out every time.

    Good job guys
    You need to get a device called a blue bowl to get the black sand out of your finds
    You can set it up in your garage and leave it there
    Just hook up a garden hose or small water pump to it
    Clean your gold up on a rainy day
