    You missed part of the story. There is a pathway to allowing for the increase to 500 meters which involves removing the label and sending info, including a photo to DJI. Then you can update and reach 500 meters. There are time restrictions though, but your story was incomplete.

    pretty simple . being as the drone was bought before jan 1st 2024 you can just peel off the label and its a legacy drone in both uk and europe.. But if yo ubu ya new drone after 1st jan 2024 it is not allowed to remove the label. yo ucan ask DJI to de-classify your mini 4 pro by the way , bu tcant do tha tafter 2024.... and if yo uhave a de-classified mini 4 pro yes you can fly it in europe just like a mini 2 and stay below the 120 meter limit and can still go up the side of a mountain... basically right up until the 1st of jan all new mini 4 drone can be used forever more just like the mini 1,2 & 3....... but if bought in 2024 your doomed..... it will mean the prices of a used mini 1,2 ,3 and 4 tha twere sold upto jan 2024 wil lgo up in price, just like an old moped that can go faster than 28mph..

    Clearly from now on its best to start flying your drone from the top of the hill and walking down! You can then exceed 120 m presumably! This is a daft limitation and is contrary to stated rule of 120m above the surface (not the take off point).

    Hello, did anyone notice that this version, 1.12.3 doesn't allow being moved over to an external SD card anymore? At least on my Samsung phone galaxy a54 5g - android 13 it doesn't. Did have 1.11.4 on 256 G external SD card, but while the 1.12.3 doesn't start to go, I get a pop-up stating can't be moved not enough room. On my galaxy tab a8 still have 1.11.4 still installed and it works fine. No big deal on the mobile, A54 5G, it has 128 G internal, watch out if your internal is small. The fly app is going on 1 G packed out, then comes your growing data, mine was up to 4 G. Hey Gavin if you read this far, do you still have older versions of the DJI fly app up on a server somewhere? In the EU there is no issue at all. C0 - no pilot certificate needed as long as you fly within VLOS - the height limit is 120m.
    It's a pity, but we'll have to live with it, and hey, I knew this before buying the drone.
    So I updated and yes, it it will go "only" as high as 120m above ground zero (Which I find sufficient for my goals). With even a warning this morning when the drone passed 90m... but it kept on rising until it hit the ceiling of 120m.
    I have no problem with that... these regulations are there to keep the airspace safe for regular air traffic, right ?

    • @philldownes8685
      @philldownes8685 11 месяцев назад

      simply de classify it and you can go straight back to the normal 120m AGL. this allows you to fly it up a big hill or over a mountain just like a mini 2..... and its perfectly legal and will stay legal... the mini 4 pro drone is still a legacy drone by law until the 1st of jan 2024.. the little stickers and silly limit dont come into play until 2024, so why keep it like that ? no reason at all...

    Gavin, good video, that is where the people are waiting for. I live in the Netherlands. I have a Mini 4 pro drone with C0 label and don't mind so much that it will be limited at 120 meters. I like it much better that I can fly above buildings and people without being illegal. Fortunately I also have a Mini 3 Pro and I probably won't update it to C0 and keep flying it as it is now, then I will nevertheless remain legal in the A1 category so nothing will change for me and it won't be limited for when I want to fly in Austria one day.

      @@philldownes8685 I disagree with you. We have to realize the reason for these regulations and that has to do with people doing things with drones that they really shouldn't be doing and thus endangering others (air traffic). That's why the 120 meters was devised. I think we should be very happy with everything that is allowed in the C0 and A1 categories and stick to the legally defined 120 meters and not think up all kinds of ways to get out of it. If we do anyway, the rules will surely be tightened up again in a while.

      yes yo ucan remove the CO label and can ask Dji to de -classify your drone now.. but after jan 1st 2024 you cannot and your drone will be illegal if it can fly 500 meters high... if yo ude-classify now its becomes a legacy droen and the new rules dont apply to your drone. it will be the same as for the mini 1,2,and 3 etc.......
