I am also born and raised in Philadelphia, USA but based in Singapore for work now. I'm in Batam this month for a project and told my parents about it. My mom and dad went thru the Galang Refugee camp in 1980. My older brother was born on the camp in April. I'm sharing this video along with Gaylord's blog photos with my dad to see if he recognizes anyone. I wish I could drive down to the refugee camp but very restricted due to COVID. We are forever grateful for you and the community. Terimakasih!
I love Indonesia with all my heart. I was born in Vietnam and lived in refugee camps around Indonesia until I was 10. I live in the US now but I hope I can come back to visit one day. I love Indonesia and its people with all my heart. Thank you!!!
Gaylord was a wonderful human being. He loved refugees with his heart. I had a chance to work with him on cultural projects at PRPC Morong (1996-1997). He was so calm and shared your feelings in any moment. Gaylord!!! You are still with us for a long time. I told my wife and my children, my friends about your works. We appreciated you very much.

I really miss Indonesia. We were all living in Galang Side 2 (Cambodians' camp). Brought me back a lot of souvenir before coming to American in June 11 1982. Every weekend, we used to go the beach and we would catch lots of fish. Those were the days, one day, I'll go back and visit there.

Oh my god I was there 85 at barrack 27 as well I don't remember what was my boat number. I was 14 at that time I'm so glad I found someone in same place.
I would like to light an incense stick in remembrance of the boat people who died in the ocean and women victims of the Thai pirates. The harsh, cruel, discriminate, cruelty of the Communists of Vietnam after the invasion of South Vietnam is an unforgettable crime. This is not a reminder to rekindle hatred and desire for revenge, but to commemorate the deceased under a terrible barbaric regime. Like the Jews who remembered their compatriots were cremated in Nazi concentration camps.
