Surprised OpenGL isn't the default interface for kicad - I've been using it since it was available (there were bugs in the beginning...like last year or even before then) but now it's great
same here, I have been using it since it was released and almost never came back to legacy except for a couple of things but it is supper rare for me to do it. the only beef I have is the error window you get when you click a button not available on opengl. I guess I can make the change on the code to disable those buttons and propose the change to the devs but I'm lazy :p
Friend of contextual electronics. My name is Franco García de Mérida Venezuela. I would like to ask you if it is possible to do a video tutorial of how to make a scheme from any plate that is already physically manufactured, to reverse engineer. Everything comes to me because they lent me a general regulator for a two-phase home and I would like to make some copies for myself. Thanks electronic study and I love sharing your videos here in Venezuela to those who know a little English. Greetings and sorry for the inconvenience.
now it look more like a professional CAD software, hope they will integer the signal integrity simulation for PCB. that the only BIG things that KICAD miss !!!! do you think they will make it ?
I can only run KiCAD 4.0.5 on this system. Past that I can't satisfy the build dependencies. When I get a new PC I'll have a more up to date build environment though. I am looking forward to those new features.
So if you draw a trace, you need to exit trace drawing mode before the undo command will work. That is the tricky thing about OpenGL IMO, the nesting of "modes"
Thanks for sharing. Love the new open gl features. I gonna try it.
Thanks Cristiano! Keep up the good work!

Once they add "spread out components" to OpenGL, I'll have no need for the standard interface

That looks like a cool little piggy back board for the new PocketBeagle - can you fill us in on what it's going to be if it's not top secret ?
Not top secret, the link to all the design files are above. It's a cellular "cape" for the pocket beagle.
Fantastic!!!!!

jUST STARTED WITH KICAD BUT NEED TO REMOVE THE TEMPLATE IN PCB MODE? THANKS IF YOU CAN HELP

With open source there are no limits. Everything is just a question of when.
Now im tempted to learn better kicad skills

Even with the stable builds? Or are you on a distro that doesn't have a build for it?
I am on an old distro with a copy of kicad from 2012 available for it.
I'm just missing a working undo for traces... like in legacy mode

Contextual Electronics thank you so much for the fast and cool response
Considering that I'm just starting with Kicad, guess I better switch to open gl before I learn the older shortcuts and methods of working.
Hi
I would like to know how to make Arduino Uno Shields with Kicad
Could you make some videos for that?
Thanks
Wao! Gran diferencia . opengl tiene mucho potencial oculto.
I really like the OpenGL advantages, like the push 'n' shove. I just don't like how it looks. I prefer the Legacy colours.
Think those can be changed though
