In January 2011 I sailed by Urd from Travemunde to Ventspils. The last six hours of the voyage were spent in a storm of magnitude 6 on the Beaufort scale and a heavy snowstorm. It was impossible to walk on the ferry without holding on to the railings. The Baltic Sea can be very rough at winter.
