Great video But I believe that the "Believe in the me who believes in you" was not just a way of "you need to be with me for being able to do something", at least not intentionally, but a response that he thought in the first episode where, when told to believe in himself, Simon states that he can't, So Kamina says "Don't trust yourself, who thinks you can't do it. Trust me who knows that you can" and when kamina actually saw what happened in ep 8, he corrected himsefl because he saw that Simon did not understand it.
I got the point about Simon being more capable than he seems and more rational than Kamina, but I never noticed Kamina literally getting credit for what Simon did. Also the mention of how girls in the village saw Simon, then talking about the Yoko and Kamina kiss, and then finally Nia all connected in an interesting way. Like even before Yoko or Nia came in the picture he already had a particular dynamic with girls and I feel silly for missing that before lol. Short video, but I liked some of the ways you phrased things and it got me thinking about Simon more.
Maybe I misunderstood, but I don’t think Kamina relished in taking the glory from Simon, when it was usually incidental. However, I think Kamina thought of himself as a necessary barrier between Simon and everyone else who dare try to belittle Simon, which meant that he would just happen to take glory for a lot of Simon’s doing, and Simon didn’t know any better but to be appreciative of Kamina for this sort of exchange. Ultimately, I agree it’s obvious that Kamina’s approach was stifling Simon more than helping, and he only realizes it at the very end
The Best Guy Ever sent me here too. If it wasn't for his Part 2 deep analysis, I would even now have so many questions about this show. His thorough review gave me emotional closure and helped me accept a little bit why it ended the way it did.
I mean by he sent me to this video. I already watched his full on analysis two years ago in 2020. I every now and then search RUclips to see if other people made videos about their experience with Gurren Lagann. And just so happens today I found yours. Gurren Lagann is A Masterpiece that I finished six years ago. I have seen a lot of other Anime that arrived after it ended but I have yet seen any that tops it. Some shows came very close though.
I agree with everything you say in the video the only problem I have with Simone reverting back to being a simple digger is the fact that he basically went radio silent and in the epilog, no one knows where he is, only that he's out there. The fact that he hasn't spoken to his friends in decades seems wildly out of character.
Great video

That is an excellent point

The “he was always great” at the end got me a little choked up.

I agree, although it wasn’t my intention to frame it that way.
Sort and simple, but great video!
Thank you!

That vid is my favourite. Quick question, by *BGE sent me here* did you mean *He got me into Gurren Lagann* or do you mean *He sent me to this video?*
