  • Learn "The Kesh Jig", one of the most popular Irish session tunes, with Tunes From Doolin. This tune was a request from Brian R. on Patreon.
"The Kesh Jig" is a very common session tune in Irish Traditional Music. I learned it through various sessions, but one memory that sticks out is a session in Gus O'Connor's Pub with Sean Vaughan and Siobhan Peoples who started the session with this jig. They had such a great lift and energy.
The Bothy Band recorded an iconic version of this tune on their live album "After Hours", which is probably the reason why it is such a well-known tune.

The fingering is almost similar to that of Out On The Ocean.

Is that a Hohner Lilliput in the background? I have one in Bb/Eb and have been looking for a teacher.

Hi Dan! Great little boxes! I'm not sure if it's a Lilliput, but mine is in C#/D. I don't play it half as much as I should though, so definitely not able to teach! If you're looking for a teacher to do Irish Traditional Music with I can give you some recommendations though. Feel free to send me an email :)
