A great documentary and tribute to all of the Kings of Cape Cod. Rest in Peace, John Louis Morgan, April 8, 1944 - August 27 2024. Forever memories and We Had Fun!
I worked at both Buckler's and Beard Chevrolet in the late 70's. They were on opposite sides of Pufferbellies big dirt parking lot. We would watch the girls get dropped at their cars in the morning that didn't go home alone . We did all the rowdy clubs then. I remember smoking pot at the Mill Hill happy hrs. and never got tossed.
My sister and I went to John Morgan's Happy Hour every Sunday at Crystal Palace because Dad would let us take the car. He thought we were going to Church! I think he turned a blind eye on the reality of the situation because afterwards he would ask who the priest was; we'd say, "Some old guy." He'd ask what the sermon was about and we'd say, "Love, peace, and happiness." Hahaha.... One time we ran into some boys who had gone to the same Catholic School as us. We all partied hard that night!...
I’m 62, and struggle to explain this period of time to my 30-something daughters. The whole concept is just too foreign. Hitchhiking to PTown on Route 6 in 1978, partying until 2:00 AM and hitchhiking back to wherever on The Cape we were stayin? And WORKING the next day.

Dick Doherty has an appropriate first name. What an ego he still has. John Morgan began the Cape Cod Happy Hour.
