Happy Whitsun Monday, another national holiday here in Denmark! Anyone else have the day off? I always clean in my "day clothes" but I ALWAYS have to wear a pinny (an apron) when I cook - can't get started without one! LOL!

I really like the idea of small decluttering sessions. Not only is it less overwhelming, but one sees immediate results. I am so beyond all of the gadgets, just give me a few good, sharp knives and several large spoons and ladles.

I had my little one helping me yesterday. He matched up all the Tupperware containers with the matched lids. Anything that did not have pair was recycled. He was very happy to help and we made jello together as a treat.

Thank you! I had unexpected guests yesterday and today! One commented on how tidy the kitchen/living room were! As I had very little notice of their arrival, I didn't do anything extra to prepare for them...just basic routines. I feel content that I can welcome friends to my perfectly imperfect "lived in" home. I realised today that this is one of my "whys" for working the Flylady System along with Diane in Denmark. Thank you again for sharing your consistent approach.

Hi, Diane, well done😉! I’ve this mouli since I had my first flat, and at this time it was already old… I use it all the time. It’s so individual what we use and like. I like that fresh feeling after cleaning up the crumbs🌬. Well up to my drawer in which a metal thing is disturbing me: rarely used and mixing up with the wooden spoons all the time…💪🥄🥢. We are glad that it is zone 2 that we need to work on this week. My husband has been wanting to tackle the wardrobe cupboard thing in our kitchen lately. We need to organize it and declutter for sure. There could be old pantry items in there, like flour and flax seeds, sandwich bags, crackers, potato chips, etc.

My two compartments are utensils that are plastic for non-stick pans and metal ones for other pans. And one little one for small things.

I am a cook and zesting is an important thing. You can use a microplane or grater. What fun to go through your drawer with you.

I absolutely love lilies of the valley! I had them on the US east coast, but now I live in the southern part and it's too hot for them here. :(

We sadly couldn't bring most of our things to Denmark, I had to de clutter just about everything in the kitchen. To my surprise I had accumulated 5 ladles over the years. 🤔

Diane is the idea that you spend a week working in your zone and try to get though everything on the list in that week?
Absolutely do NOT do the whole list! 🖐😃 Just do a few minutes whenever you can, concentrate on any tasks that need doing. Main thing is to be consistent with your daily Routines and Weekly Upkeep Clean. Then the Zone cleaning will be easy 👍

Takes away the scratches and marks. But no need to do it if you don't feel it's necessary 😀
Thank you for this video! I tried working alongside and it was just the accountability I needed! Do you find that writing down your to dos in each zone helps? I always write more than I can handle in a day or week. Any suggestions?
Keep a list of to dos for each zone and separate by ones to do every month vs. ones to do occasionally. Check off whichever of the occasional ones you get to and leave the rest unchecked for next time. Eventually you will cycle through all the to dos for the zone!
Hi Mary! I have lists on my blog dianedenmark.com which I keep in my "control journal" for inspiration. I do the first few things from the top of my list and then aim just to do one or two extra things during the week. Balance is key!
I am going to go back to 31 babysteps videos(it feels that you just did these videos) because I felt it wasn't going to work and my absolutely filthy house was going to takeover us in its fury! I haven't done all 31 days...I gave up after day (the one that deals with emails?) I wanted to get on with the cleaning. I also thought that I couldn't keep deep cleaning my sink everyday!
No need to deep clean the sink, that's only day one! 🖐🤩
I have one of those scrubby cloths, they started selling them here in the last couple years, they are not in full colors here, on the contrary they are very bright 🧐 anyways I love it for our shower!

I enjoy having fresh flowers / candles etc so that is enough "colour" for me in the kitchen. We have lots of paintings and prints around the house 😃
Diane, where are your countertops from? How have they held up? Are they protected with sealer?...just all about countertops. I love the look.
Solid cherry wood, brilliant even after 12 years! Ours are oiled and, as I said in the video, I occasionally give them a quick sand/reoil.

I'm just back from a week long vacation and ready to clean! Question: my zone 2 is stressing me out! It's my large kitchen plus attached 3 season porch which gets quite used and dirty. Would it be okay to take 2 weeks in this zone? I'm always not getting it done in my 15 minutes a day every day of the week. I have a 4000 sq ft house with 5 people living here plus my extra kids that come home at least once a week (5 extras).
You can do whatever works for you! Since it's a high-traffic, much used room, would it help to add it to your before bedtime routine for daily maintenance and include it with another room - perhaps the bathroom zone week? Then you'd work in it during kitchen and bathroom week?
@@steppy3736 what a great idea! I split my zone 5 and 1 all the time and sometimes they can be light! I should add in a reminder to do maybe the porch windows or cobwebs or mopping onto other zones! Thank you❤
Hi Kim! Our house is about the same size as yours, absolutely feel free to change the zones as necessary! And remember we are not trying to do the whole list, just dealing with the most pressing tasks 🖐😀 I would shift the porch to zone 1 (entry, dining room, hall) or any other zone you wish. I find zone 4 (bedroom) is an easy week for me, same with zone 5 (living room). See what works for you, and make sure to get the others in the house helping too, especially with your Weekly Upkeep Clean of the high traffic areas! 🤩
@@DianeinDenmark Thank you! Yes I have 2 kids helping with vacuuming, mopping and dusting which is a GREAT help! I have a problem not doing the whole list😜 I am a checkbox girl for sure! Maybe I need to just look around and pick the most urgent tasks and star those to get done and leave the rest until the next time around.

I have been decluttering the two worst kitchen drawers, you know the sort you can never find what you want because it's full of the things you never use. Now I only have about a quarter of the things I had before but I use everyone and can see them immediately. P.s. Is it sad I keep opening the draws just to
look how neat they are?
Well done, Janet! And, yes, I do the same when I have decluttered a drawer...keep opening up the drawer to admire my efforts! LOL!
That makes me feel so much better knowing you do it as well, All the odd knives, forks and spoons my daughter is taking to the hospital ward were she works as she says the staff room is always short of things like that. Makes me feel good knowing they are going to be used there.
