  • Welcome to my channel. Today I'm going to show you what I did so that I can saw out various wooden parts from my 35 - 40 cm thick tree trunks in Finland, such as slats, poles and beams.
I made a plywood template for this with the dimensions of the wooden parts that I want to saw out. I drilled a hole for the middle of the trunk so that I can fix the template in the middle of the trunk with a screw. Then I will mark the exact line to be sawn on both sides of the trunk with a felt-tip pen or pencil.
First, I'm going to use the Alaskan sawmill to saw off the bark at the top, then make two 2 cm horizontal cuts. On both sides I will do the same with the mini sawmill. Once from this side of the tribe, once from the other side of the tribe. The trunk then looks almost square on 3 sides. It is very important that the bottom side is not sawn.
On the horizontal surface above I will then fix the board for the mini sawmill so that I can saw these vertical lines. The cuts may only be up to the square. So not continuously. 2 saw cuts are made from each side of the trunk. The wooden parts are still connected to the underside of the trunk.
Now I can use the Alaska sawmill to cut out the parts I need for my barn construction from above. First 2 x 5 cm slats, then 5 x 5 cm bars, the same again and finally 10 x 5 cm bars.
Finally, the rest stays at the bottom, which I can put on top of the next trunk and then try to cut out 2 boards with a thickness of 2 cm. I'll see in the summer whether this works in practice.
I hope that the video will help you further. Please subscribe to my channel and give me a like. Thank you and goodbye untill next time!
