      @@icarusc44 They do not use their voices and platforms to help market the league right away. It is such a disgrace that LeBron James has been talked about every day and he is not in the race. All the sports shows are too scared to cover players and teams that deserve it because their numbers will take a hit. Every topic they discuss is based solely on analytics and minute by minute numbers. They all are trying to cling to the way the NBA was. Not what it is now. They do not help market anything the right way. Some have a problem that they actually have to help market. They think they are just a news show. Greeny who I love said it and it made me so mad and highlights exactly why the media is the problem. He said Its not up to the media to come up with stories they just react to stories. That would be true if the sports shows were actual news telecasts. They are not. They are opinion based debate shows. Its entirely their responsibility to help market the NBA as a whole not just LeBron and the Legacy teams.

      @@bryanmahoney3434 your frustration is misplaced. The media is a business first. They have an obligation to follow the numbers, the views, and the clicks. Otherwise, john and jane doe behind the scenes will be see an unemployment line. The numbers are consistently down when they try to talk or promote things that are not LeBron, Cowboys, Lakers, Brady, etc. Even before LeBron, the numbers for teams like the Spurs or the Pistons, who played team basketball, were very low. That's not the media's fault...that's the fans fault. Hell, even in the illegal streams of the games, certain teams and players draw far more numbers than everyone else. Once again, that's the fans. That's who your frustration should be directed at.

    AAU has killed American basketball. What's going on now is that the elite foreign players outshine the American players. Our players are largely soft. Terms like 'load management ' don't exist in the foreign leagues. The foreign players are used to being coached and coached hard, while the American player can get a coach fired. The NBA game has became a two man game, with the other 3 players standing around. The 60s through 80s NBA was constant movement. Both the NBA, and the US National Basketball Federation have to put pressure on AAU, HS, and college basketball to change the way that they do things

    • @AndYouAre
      @AndYouAre 26 дней назад

      Why? The NBA is now a full blown business. The Superstars who are coming into the league now can be billionaires when they retire. Entertainment and high profits is what the league is and the US players understands this more than the rest of the world. Competition is not even a top 3 priority anymore. It's about making money.
      In the 80's and 90's, players killed themselves to be better than the next man and what did that get them? Most of those players now are feeling the physical effects of what they put their bodies through without the financial resources to continue a luxury lifestyle. Superstars today play less games, make over 75 million a year from players salaries and endorsements, don't take the game as personal, and have a better understanding that it's all about the bread. Even the average good player can make 25 million a year while making additional millions creating content for a podcast.
      It's all about branding for everyone. The players are just better at it today. Not everyone can be LeBron or Steph who seem to have it all

    The NBA marketing is all over the place. Its a mess. The NBA was smart in the 90s and showcased young talent more. When Jordan retired the 1st time, you saw a lot of Orlando Magic,Charlotte Hornets, Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat younger teams being promoted. Now you have all these young teams thriving and they cant get on National Television. Id rather see Pelicans, Orlando,
    OKC , Minnesota etc than Lakers vs Celtics or Warriors vs Suns.

    • @mmiller7615
      @mmiller7615 28 дней назад +3

      Bingo.
      The NBA has a marketing problem. In the 90's, they highlighted all the teams regardless of size of the markets they played in.
      The biggest mistake the NBA has made over the last 10 years is keeping LeBron in the spotlight too long. Sports media is dominated by LeBron and the true NBA fans and the casual ones are tired of it. Now that LeBron is no longer making deep Playoff runs, the media doesn't have anything to talk about.

    • @Dbo_Sports
      @Dbo_Sports 27 дней назад

      It’s marketing but it’s more than just how the teams are being ignored… it’s the poor ESPN presentation of the sport. The Jordan era was NBC, it was presented perfectly. The Bird/Magic era was presented by CBS and was presented perfectly after they came off of tape delay. Those Orlando Magic, Charlotte Hornet etc games that were on after Jordan retired the first time… were on a first rate network with first rate presentation. So that you saw Shaq and LJ and Alonzo Mourning the way that you were supposed to see and hear them. ESPN is the problem.

When you watch the Olympics or FIBA World Championships there are dozens of players that can easily play in the NBA if they wanted to. Players nobody has ever heard of stateside. It all depends on if their personal lives afforda them being away from home 6 months out of the year. The level of difficulty in that decision alone varies.

    The NBA should be the home for the absolute best in the world at playing basketball. How can anyone think it's bad. People will point to the marketability of international players. Well the National Media is behind the times point blank. Greeny and Doug Gottlieb made it clear in their ridiculous stances that it's not up to them to come up with the news. That was such utter crap when I heard that. The NBA has transitioned out of being personality and superstar centric. They fail to realize that their voices carry weight it's up to the media now to help these international players get over to a broad audience. You do that on focusing on the games and talking about teams and players that deserve it. Even if it means taking a step back. It's to them take 2 steps forward. The NBA is a world league now and will not change back. All the big time personalities that cover the game it's up to them to help market it because right now it's an outdated disgrace to the entirety of the league the way some teams and players are treated by the media

    • @bryanmahoney3434
      @bryanmahoney3434 28 дней назад

      @@adtastic1533 The big issue is the way the National Media is covering the NBA as a whole. All the sports shows want to cling onto the way the NBA was in the past, not adapt to what it is now. Which means its up to all the big personalities to market the players and teams that cant market themselves. Instead they are trying force narratives. Its already happening with Anthony Edwards and its not his fault but tells you exactly where the problem lies. They think that the NBA needs a clear cut American face of the league for it to be relevant. They know that LeBron, Steph and KD are far away from winning another chip and they are all older now. So they are forcing narratives about Anthony Edwards to perch him up into that spot. Always failing to realize that marketing strategy does nothing but kill the rest of the league. Its outdated. There should be several faces of the NBA. Not just 1 above the rest.
