not well proportioned, lines don't flow, cheap materials and flashy screens... just like the rest of the current BMW lineup.. As a BMW fan and owner, I feel sad.

Bmw IX doesn't feel cheap at all. Tons of carbon fiber, Bowers and Wilkins with 30 speakers, futuristic seats, self healing front grill. But this 5 yes, it does feel cheap

@@ifeanyiikemefuna3706 I see your point. But there are some designs that simply aren't beautiful, like the BMW E60 or the E65. Both still ugly 20 years after they were launched.

I rushed to get 2023 M4 although I hate the front to avoid that iPad screen. Sad to see BMW losing on the design aspect that used to be their best element.

I currently have an 8 series and I love bmw but that dashboard is disturbing I don’t like it at all but the rest of the car I can live with it and it better come with a open sunroof not like the 7 series where they removed it .

I agree,i dont know what were designers thinking when they put that tablet style dash. Its not ugly, its gross and totally doesnt fit in that luxuary enterior. Like you said, that dash is very disturbing. BMW is synonim for sport, and that dash totally ruined that.

It's not bad. But previous gen was better.
BMW kept a "normal" grille..and still somehow managed to ruin it. It still looks like a BMW from front. Sides and back? Not at all.
The headlights kink is weird. It made sense in e60 which was a curvey design. This is masculine and muscular..so the kink doesn't make sense.
The muscular design ends at the front...there's no strong shoulder line which would typically span from side gill to the rear lights while another line rebobounded back from the side gill subtly to the hofmeister kink and around the window frame till it got back. The Sketch Monkey covers this well. This is a huge shame.
And the back? What the hell is that? Rear lights look lexus style..that pointy triangle on the side doesn't look right. It should have curved/kinker back like other BMWs always have been. The typical L or upside down L rear lights are gone. These are thinner and back looks really high and fat. Partly bec back length cuts off too short bec of electric powerplant. Partly bec of lights being narrow AND too high up. It would have been nice to see some more headlight covering the under side of the lights..but only the external part like the e92. However typically for the 5 series, rear light has always been bigger on the outside panel, and shorter on the boot side making an 'L' shape.
To cover the fat and high ass at the back, they shoved ugly black plastic in the bottom side which doesn't make sense.
Honestly it not a bad car, not a bad BMW considering the obnoxious crap that's released these days which has polluted every lineup EXCEPT the 8 series. For me, the pinnacle of design was last gen. We had the 2 series, 3 and 4 series, 5 series, 8 series, z4, x5 and x6...that design language..in particular the front bumper and air intakes..aswell as lights and grille..we're perfection. Rear side was typical BMW percection. Side was typical bmw perfection
This looks like a good car..but along with the gender/identity crisis in the liberal world, BMW is loosing its identity too.
