    Despite all of my research on airplanes, I had missed this video. I was searching again since I can tell my air plants aren’t doing very well. Based on your information, I have been doing nearly everything wrong in watering! Thank you so much. You addressed many points not covered in many other videos. Hopeful I can rehydrate mine properly now!

    I am so glad you said that they are not easy to care for. I have heard that from so many people -including sellers!! I HIGHLY disagree! I think they are high maintenance. I love them and I have a lot of them, but they are rather time consuming.

    Dave how do you water the Spanish moss? Thank you for making these videos

    • @DavesAirPlantCorner
      @DavesAirPlantCorner  3 года назад

      I water my Spanish moss the same way as others, but I soak them more often (twice a week), or I try to spray them completely wet in between weekly soakings. Be careful and let them hang dry at a well-ventilated place after watering, otherwise some strands can experience rot.

    • @DavesAirPlantCorner
      @DavesAirPlantCorner  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching :) I don't think they mind too much! I pick mine up often too, to water them or to change their homes haha. Although some growers like to have them mounted onto wood or wires so they can root onto it, so in that case they would prefer not to touch or move the plants too much. Perhaps some species like tectorum that has lots of trichomes (hairs) you wouldn't want to handle them too much!

    Hey Dave! Total newbie here. I have just 4 air plants and I was wondering about using well water. We live out of town and do not have city water. Is using well water okay? I try to use rain water here in Southeast Texas, but I'm worried about the coming summer months. Thanks in advance and I love your videos! I have learned so much...

      Hi Mary! Thank you so much for watching :) Glad to help. I have no experience in it myself, but I believe well water is natural enough to use on air plants, as long as it is clean and there are no visible trouble (bugs, muddy) with the quality of the water, they should enjoy a nice soak in it.

    Hi. We have a water softener for the house. I’ve heard it’s not good to use water from a tap with softened water. But, hose water, do I need to let that sit out to let chemicals evaporate similar to how you would for tap water?

    • @DavesAirPlantCorner
      @DavesAirPlantCorner  3 года назад

      Hi Jennifer, yes from my knowledge it is not good to use water from water softener since it stripped some of the good minerals that air plants like. For hose water I would treat it the same one and let it sit overnight or at least 5-6 hours so it is safer to use on the plants. They are pretty resilient when it comes to the kind of water you use, but in the long run it is best to be consistent with the quality of water.

      They can be soaked in water for an hour or two. Just make sure to dry them at a nicely ventilated spot after soaking and make sure they're not all bunched up or sticking against surface so they can breathe

    • @DavesAirPlantCorner

      I have never used hair dryer and not sure if it would be the best since the heat can be too drastic for the plants, I guess lowest setting could work but generally I find fans sufficient to dry them more naturally.
