Lots of great ideas - thanks so much for taking the time to record these vids. As far as the masking tape, I found it created more problems than it solved. By adding the tape to the bottom, the bottom can no longer stretch, but the top layer can. Result is that the top layer loses alignment, especially over the ammo holder cutouts. Plus, as you mentioned, its a bear to remove. Once I stopped using it, I really had no issues at all feeding the leather and maintaining layer alignment. I used 1.6mm veg tanned leather, so maybe that is different enough from what appears to be chrome tanned leather that you are using.
Also, using glue stick to temporarily hold the layers together made a huge difference in keeping everything aligned. Went from crappy looking to acceptable. Still need lots of practice though to make it look more professional. I am using a low cost Singer HD machine which I purchased as a refurbished unit for cheap. Just need a real good needle, HD thread on top, and standard thread on bobbin. Pretty happy with results.
Keep up the great work!!!
It would be helpful if he went into the dimensions and more details like measuring how far in he's sewing/cutting and making adjustments based on size and height of who will be wearing it.
I love all these videos about your Mandalorian cosplay suit! It is best to see how many different techniques and materials you master to build all the pieces yourself.
Nice job Matt. I'm glad you're tackling the soft parts as well as the hard parts.
That just sounds wrong lol
For the masking tape, you can also put it on your shirt first, take it off, and the fibers will make it less sticky.
It's amazing watching this process. It's so complicated, but they way you lay out step by step makes it look achievable.
Did you have any patterns to follow, or was it all just based off of pictures?
These help out so much, now I'm just doing the whole costume out of EVA foam and the general clothes but this will definitely help for ideas on it, doing this for a school project 100% excited
Excellent tutorial!
Thanks!!!
Yet another great video!
Very awesome and educational video tutorial. What are the dimensions of the leather strips please? May I also inquire about the thread spool you are using? Where can I purchase it etc? Keep up the awesome work. Thank you
Very helpful. Thanks!
Cool
Do you know where I can find the patterns to make this belt and bandolier?
Is 10 square feet enough to do the belt, bandolier, and the holster?

Love the video but I did not see a link or notice in the video about the pattern to trace out on the leather
What kind of thread did you use?
What kind of leather are you using? Upholstery or strips of belt from cow hide leather? I'm trying to make me a Link Ocarina of time Bandolier.
where do you find your music? excellently chosen!
Raking Up Bills by Frenchies
Can you also do a Mandalorian Stalker helmet, please?
How many yards of faux leather would I need to make this?
How much of the leather was used? How much material
All we just need is the jetpack and we're all set
how do you attach the riffle to the belt in front? please teach us thank you
The rifle has a sling, the sling has a round magnetic puck that connects to that plate so the sling isn’t moving around as he walks and does combat and stuff
Where to get the templates?
Do you have a pattern or template. Thanks
I'm just wondering why make the pouches all non-functional.
He built a cosplay costume. Saves a little time, I prefer to make all my leather work functional, but on a time crunch just for costumes, I wouldn't make them functional unless requested. More Labour. More costs.
