I love Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, Charles Adams, Ursula K. Le Guin too. I met Bradbury and Matheson. They were both lovely. I met Ray Bradbury several times, the first time he gave a lecture at our school, when I was Community College. He was such a sweet, kind, very friendly man. Super kind and charming. The first Science Fiction book I ever read was one of his, my Dad got it for me, because he wanted to gently introduce me to his favorite genre. I love to collect, some are gifts, some I inherited from parents, so some I buy at all kinds of places. When I found out from my Mom was I a teen that a favorite movie was a book, it was easier back then you could hunt through garage sales and swap meets. Now I like to go to charity shops and used books stores. Though I do buy on line, I actually prefer to buy books in person, it is exciting, when you find missing book from a collection.
Absolutely! WOW we have a lot in common - sadly I haven't met any of those people we both mentioned....great story of you meeting Bradbury several times - amazing!!
@@bookssongsandothermagic the last time, Ray Bradbury broke the rules for me and signed one book for me and one for my Dad. I only met Richard Matheson, once and he broke the rules for me too, he was there to promote his book; What Dreams May Come, and I bought it and he signed it but then I politely asked if he would mind signing my copy of Somewhere In Time, it is my favorite, and he said, sure, it is one of mine too.
Great video! I’m not a collector beyond collecting 1st editions written by an author I wrote about. Hunting for his books was fun. I’m still two short
