Personally, i dont really get it (though im very happy to have a discussion). Chord inversions are just the shifting of notes in a chord, while i do get this drills the shape in your head, its not very open to moving across different keys as doing it in a key like C# would be wayyyy harder/different.
Plus, i feel like this sort of trains the wrong thing, if someone asks you to play a G(I) aka First Inversion, while this excercise would be good for that, its not taking into account 2nd, or 3rd inversion for extended chords, let alone major, minor, dominant, minor major, half diminished and so on.
I feel like just playing around with inversions and being aware of them is sufficient. Over time youll develop that familiarly of common shapes without having to drill every inversion, of every different chord, in all 12 keys. I think the best solution is to just think of inverted chords as the same chord, and not a different one, which is the idea this video seems to propose

Yes. Also, this doesn't even go through all 12 keys, just the 7 from the c major notes.

Maybe the title isn’t really fitting. At least it got me confused as a beginner. The exercise works in your shape hold rather than the inversions. Nevertheless sounds good and I can use it to gain confidence. Thanks!

Hey stanford, this works on your 1-2-5 finger accuracy (lock in the hand shape and move up and down the piano) and 'wrist-knocking' movement. Any luck with it? 😂
