As a gen Z it is very comforting to hear you say the things you have said here. As I get older, I feel the weight of the things I have inherited and talks like these make me feel I can overcome, so thank you.
The read to the older generation is spot on. I often do hear the youngs of all genders saying, why would they want to work after seeing the older generations get ate up and miserable. I'm not sure how yo turn the narrative around without major societal change especially in the area of finance. When hardwork and livability do not necessarily go hand in hand being on the look out for a hustle/grift seems a lot more understandable. 😢
I have way too much to say, but I agree with you on everything. I will say, I enjoyed this content very much, especially as I'm winding down my day/ Also, I'm not on Tik-Tok so I feel like you're keeping me in the loop :)
I really enjoyed this new format of your videos. As a gen x single, no children I find some gen z thoughts on choosing a traditional way of life vs independence is bewildering. Women, now more than ever must be a position to take care of themselves and their children. Marriage is no guarantee to a better life, you have to create that for yourself, maybe not all by yourself but still.....
I’ve also noticed this trend or movement towards this submissive approach to relationship/marriage among young women on reality TV and wondered where it came from. I’m a Gen Xer and I have never relayed this message to my younger siblings or my daughter. (As far as I know) However I have heard my 30 something year old sister echo this idea as if it was desirable. I hear you say “we” have given them this message and I’m curious to know how? Maybe it was subconscious on my part so I’d like some pointers so I know what to repair. Cuz that lifestyle helps NO ONE.
I do think it's often subconscious. It's in the way we tell women how to appear in the world with the male gaze in ind. It's in how we tell women to be ready for marriage and many is so many varied ways... to name a few
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on our responsibilities towards the younger generation and towards the country and community in general. I don’t watch TV so I’m not getting the same messages about black folks responsibilities 😅. I’ve shared this video and I’ve been inspired to share more about realities of life as a BW married out to a 6 figure earner. 🍵 EDIT: we discuss a lot about relationships and the ups and downs in our podcast called “Chopsticks and Fork, Please: AMBW podcast “ 😊
I healthier product for your braids would be melanin style cream. My daughter uses it for hers. Her hair is still moisturized after she takes them down.
Thank you for the shout out ❤❤❤. I am a true introvert so I do not comment often. I really enjoy your content and new format.
Thank you so much for watching!
