Update, got in both. Now I'm just deciding where to go for my masters. A dream come true, both of my dream institutions. NYC or LA, can't go wrong with either.
i love nyu i love usc's campus i love chapman's program i love ucla's studio i love loyola's people i love film production and i want to major in it but my gpa is too low lmao
I was in a summer program in USC this summer, and the USC girl in this vid really mentioned sth that is so true: We're not here to make a masterpiece, we're here to learn. THAT'S IS SO TRUE AND tha'ts WHAT PROFESSORS AND SA KEPT TELLING US!! THANKS for sharing this video, it really helps a lot, especially I'm applying to both school this year, but grad school though.
@@fydeless4812 Funny you ask... going to pursue a job in trade to make some money to go into a creative field, be that film or music etc. So to answer your question, still interested.
Thank you for helping me decide. I think I’ll go to USC but NYU would be my 2nd choice. I love the environment/ typical college vibe (SCHOOL SPIRIT) it gives off. It has football (my Highschool doesn’t and I don’t wanna miss out) . I already visited/lived in NY (temporarily) 100 + times and I wanna expand my travels across the world. I also really like how USC does their films especially for their final thesis
Thank you for making this video I’m deciding on the two for grad school now. SC has always been my dream school, they denied me twice for undergrad and then I went to Scotland and graduated this year.
A whole lot of people that are very successful now got rejected on a few USC applications and got in the second, third or fourth application. Don't be discouraged.
THANK YOU for this video! It’s very informative... I learned much more information from this video than from all the College Confidential forum comparisons I’ve read!
Wow, I really appreciate your comment! I want to know more about the types of classes and courses you guys learn. Because I am usually enjoying art or independent film and I have no school spirit in my high school (lol), It sounds like I am more NYU person. I always dream of going film school, but the problem is I have never filmed the professional video before. Now I am currently Junior and I guess I have to start NOW for preparing application portfolio. But I don't how could it begin filming video. I am watching some video essay or editing tutorial on RUclips channel, and it makes me a lot. Is there any advice for me? I would really appreciate it! Thank you :)
I got rejected from Chapman, and now I’m waiting to hear back from these two schools. So in about a month, I’m either going to have a mental breakdown, or I’m going to jump for joy. Either way it’ll involve tears.
This was a really informative video and very well done! I'm wondering, as someone who is considering going to NYU, do you think that the contacts you made there helped you when you moved to LA? I'm worried that I'll go to NYU, graduate and get established in new york city, and then move to LA and have to start from scratch again.
USC had different majors within the program. You have to write some scripts even if you don't make in script writing. In production you have to try 3 things, to see what you really want to do in the industry.
The comment about USC not mentoring post college... My daughter is a junior and one of her professor who works in the industry offer to mentor and help her when she graduates. I think it's there but you have to make your connections in school.
USC does offer money to help with costs based on you and your parents' income. There's also merit scholarship if you have a high GPA. My daughter just transferred there, will owe some loans but it isn't an obscene amount. I will actually per more in my youngest who's at a CSU.
Me watching this pretending i could get in to either of them

This is great, Nadia! It's cool to see the two perspectives back to back. Definitely think you represented NYU Tisch accurately ;) Keep it up!!!

How does the job situation differ for alumni of both these schools? Also, did you have any international students in your batch?
same questions about this field
For USC and NYU, do students start actually making films their freshman year or do they have to wait until later? Thank you!
Thank you so much for all of your insight!
Alexa G what did she say? I would like to know too

Also, how would you say both schools compare for screenwriting vs cinematography?

Is it possible to get into USC with a 3.4gpa but a good SAT score, and writing samples
Great video shout to Caroline for sending me here
does any of the school provide and scholarships/ financial aid?
USC website has a calculator to plug to estimate cost. We actually got more money that the estimate but you have to apply for these funds.
Would you have a chance to look into the industry ( universal studio, Hollywood etc.) environment or are there coop programs in NYU? Thank you!
What's the tuition?
70k for both
