  • Join us for live coverage of the 2023 FIA GT World Cup held as part of the 70th edition of the Macau Grand Prix.
    The FIA Formula 3 and GT World Cups are being held at Macau’s unique and demanding Guia Circuit for the first time since 2019, headlining the 70th running of the Macau Grand Prix.
    FIA-sanctioned races are set to return to the renowned Asian street circuit as part of a three-year agreement resulting from joint efforts by the FIA, Macau’s FIA member club, Automobile General Association Macao-China (AAMC), and the Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee.
    The two FIA competitions will take place from 16 - 19 November, with the action kicking off on Thursday and the format featuring two 40-minute-long free practice sessions and two qualifying sessions for Formula 3, as well as two 30-minute practice sessions followed by single qualifying of the same duration for GT cars.
    Both competitions will be held across two race heats over the weekend, each with a qualifying race followed by a title-deciding main race. The race durations will be 12 and 16 laps for GT cars.
    This year marks the return of FIA racing to the streets of Macau for the first time since 2019 and, therefore, the first edition of the FIA GT World Cup in four years.
    All five winners of the event held between 2015 and 2019 are due to battle for their second FIA GT World Cup glory, along with a star-studded line-up of some of the world’s best closed-roof specialists, each seeking to triumph on the 6.120-kilometre circuit.
    This year’s edition of the FIA GT World Cup will host a grid of 21 cars, with machinery from five different manufacturers and a total of 12 Platinum-ranked drivers, making it arguably the strongest field since the event first ran in 2015.

    • @bilb00blib
      @bilb00blib 6 месяцев назад

      Macau doesn't have to be he same as everywhere else.
      Macau can indeed have their own racing (and have had their own racing for the last 3 years).
      If the Macau organizers want to put on a race, there's nothing stopping them.
      But FIA Doesn't need to sanction it.
      FIA cheapens their own brand and by extension all the other sanctioned GT racing by associating with such a travesty of racing.
      Macau can indeed have their own racing (and have had their own racing for the last 3 years).
      Seriously, 3 crashes is a tiny 12 lap race!!!
      And clean-up of those 3 crashes swells the race time by 100%???
      This circuit is WAAAAY TOO narrow for GT Cars.
      Arguably too narrow for any cars but certainly for GT cars.
      While I'm certain some fools like to watch racing for the crashes, I'm certain if the manufacturers and the drivers believed that was the objective of the organizers and the sanctioning entity, they'd refuse to participate.

    39:28 THIS is why you dont allow untalented super rich chinese amateurs behind the wheel of GT3 cars alongside pro drivers, WHY does the FIA hand out racing licences like confetti? i guess its due to corruption and wanting to appeal to the lucrative huge chinese market.
    One thing with Macau guarantees is carnage due to allowing basically anyone to race if they are rich enough regardless of any actual racing talent.

    • @OsellaSquadraCorse
      @OsellaSquadraCorse 6 месяцев назад +15

      Except Fong has been racing for decades and raced a lot in Europe in GT3; he's not 'new' and is from Hong Kong, and been racing under that licence (or his native Canada), so not any kind of Chinese-specific corruption, just the usual type. Fong even tested F1 and has raced at Le Mans, Spa 24H, Bathurst; he's not the definition of a talentless hack, just made a mistake - notably as did Preining; who also destroyed his car (as did Laurens Vanthoor at the Nordschleife last year, previously in Macau, and so on...
      It's Macau - it happens, regardless of the calibre of driver in the field.

      @@user-jh6vt8vx4v no, Adderly Fong shouldn't be anywhere near an FIA race licence but they hand them out like confetti to rich playboys because it makes money for the FIA.
      I want to watch the best drivers race NOT rich paydrivers with zero driving talent creating spectacular youtube reel crashes because they cant drive .
      Macau is pointless race in 2023, no big names and most of the grid made up of rich club racers, if i want to watch untalented journeymen i would just go to the local track day

    • @OsellaSquadraCorse

      @@Adlata You need to avoid all GT racing, worldwide then, unfortunately. Also Indycar, IMSA NASCAR, ARCA, Touring Cars, ELMS, AsLMS, Le Mans and WEC.
      Ironically F1 has the lowest percentage of rich club racers for a change at the moment, but not sure about the 'racing'.
