I did a grappling tournament in august, Mokaev was there, he showed up with his kit in a plastic bag, went in and got Gold in both Gi and Nogi in the highest experience category. And then went home. 8 matches in total and barely broke a sweat.
The hardest thing to deal with against Mokaev in my opinion is that you can't see him. I mean he seems to absorb all visible light. Look at the picture of him on the prospect of the night screen. It'll be interesting to see how his opponent deals with this.
Tom Aspinall fought Al Iaquinta?!?! GILBERT BURNS?!?! Why Haven't I seen these!?!? Lmao. No fucking way. Why can I not find it on youtube? AT WHAT WEIGHT?!
I'm not sure you're looking deeply enough into the grappling particulars with Krylov/Craig. Yes, Krylov has been submitted in 5 of his 8 losses, but literally every one of those losses has happened when he was on bottom, because despite him being a decent overall grappler, his big blunders happen when he's on his back where he has pretty lackluster defense and fight IQ. Craig generally submits foes from the bottom, and Krylov actually has a pretty damn solid top game where he generally stays defensively responsible. Craig's hail mary subs are definitely a possibility here as they always are, but it's not something I'm just gonna lean on. He was easily losing both the Ankalaev and Nzechukwu fights before the late subs where they both just got too lax, something that a mindful top position grappler like Krylov will probably make a mental note to avoid doing, and Hill 1) isn't a good grappler, and 2) displayed some awful fight IQ basically escaping a submission and deciding to just dive right into another one. Definitely not saying Krylov's got this for sure, but I'm just not so sure Craig's gonna get a sub from the bottom, and I definitely can't be confident he'll take Krylov down and end up on top. But hey, I suck at picking Craig fights so there's also that haha.
@Weasle, hello from Australia, appreciate the content keep up the great work. Question for the podcast. When you evaluate all the fighters, how do you grade the fight IQ rating?
Probably their adaptability, their spacial awareness and their understanding of when to grapple and when to strike, of when to engage/disengage, that's what comes to my mind at least
