Really appreciate you explaining 'why' you are clicking the things you're clicking!! Watched way too many tutorials that just whizz through and don't explain what the buttons do but 'just click it'
My mind is blown because this method is going to save me so much time! Thank you for showing us your process, you make the absolute best tutorials for the effects I want to achieve
ik i’m late to this video, but for anyone who doesn’t have Photoshop (like me), there is still a way to generative fill backgrounds in After Effects. It should be just called “generative-fill layer” in the windows tab on the top. The way it works is it fills any space in the composition that is clear (i.e. there is no background/image there, etc.), so all you have to do is cut out the space you want to be filled in with generative fill, then solo the layer and press generate. (there is more to the process, so I would recommend watching a separate video to get the whole scoop) I would recommend importing the same image two times. On one cut out the objects you want to be interactive using the pen tool, and on the other use the generative fill to remove it from the image. Then follow the steps in the video :)
...I know this comment is coming in late, but this video just came in super clutch for a project I'm working on (still in the storyboard stage, thank goodness). Thanks for taking your time to make and share this great info, I don't even know how many hours you may have saved me considering the route I was going to take. Cheers from Louisiana!
Excellent tutorial! I'm new and learning. I've watched 7 other After Effects tutorials specific to cameras and 2D to 3D imaging. Yours, by far, is the most comprehensive and easiest to follow. You are an excellent teacher! I'm following you for sure. Keep em coming, please. Thank You Emonee 💯
Giving props to the one from whos tutorial you learnd this stuff/the fundament for your tutorial is something nearly nobody does... very likeable :) great tutorial!
You are an amazing person/great teacher, "accept light OFF" I spent an hour with another tutorial and could not figure out why the image was so dark. Thank you.
This is the literal mirror of the next level I've been meaning to take my collage art to. The way you teach is super digestable and insightful, thank you so much for this.
2 small tips: 1- If you use the "Top" view, you would be able to make a perfect box by aligning the walls and floor without leaving any room for guess work. 2- If the image gets a bit blurry (It definitely will.), the best way to recover some definition is to - Go to "composition setting" - "3D renderer' - click the option button and change the "shadow map resolution" to 4000.
Terrific explanation of projection mapping, and well executed! The shadow darkness and diffusion settings only affect cast shadows (as in, when an element lit by the spotlight casts a shadow onto another element. It doesn’t affect the falloff of the light itself. Looking forward to seeing what you make next!
I will need to turn two photos into 3D soon, and while this is the first video on the subject that I've watched - I will say I'm less intimidated. Thank you!
Nice video! Your tips helped me a lot but I tried the last part about the solid walls but it didn’t work out. 2 walls and the floor are still white. Any suggestions? I work on after effects 2021
Thank you for this tutorial! I've been having an issue each time I try this out where since my photo's depth is so far that I have to stretch each side really long to cover each dimension. For some reason, I can't cover each side as quickly and easily as you demonstrate. Not sure if I'm explaining that correctly, but any tips about that?
Did not work for me, double checked everything, made sure all the settings and positionings are correct, but when I turn Cast shadows "Only" for the image it just disappears and nothing projects onto the planes... As I said, I checked all the Settings on the solids and the image, the light and the camera is hard to get wrong. I don't know what to do about that...
Thank you for your tutorials. They are fun to watch and since they are free to be honest it’s godsend during these trying times. I’ve never used after effects but you make it seem so easy. Do you have a beginners course?
When I rotate my solid layer more down (flat), it ends up forming a parallelogram instead of the trapezium you have at 3:04 for example. What is happening?
hey its a great tutorial however i am having trouble with image being blurry when i set casts shadows to only... Could this be a problem with my graphic card not being the best or... (is it subjective or its gonna be same for everyone who i send this to)
I love your technique this is very Unique and best. earlier we use to do all this in Photoshop Vanishing point where you made it Simply and easy way and object dimension that's very important without it there is no fun in scene
you got the real science of this 3D conversion. Its like talking about the 1s and 0s of life. I'm blown away.
Really appreciate you explaining 'why' you are clicking the things you're clicking!! Watched way too many tutorials that just whizz through and don't explain what the buttons do but 'just click it'

it looks very dark what shall I do?
@@amrit9249 - Create an adjustment layer - Apply the "Levels" effect - adjust the blacks and whites until you get a satisfactory result.
4:48 when she says "next we are gonna move to the original image" how can i do that?
