John and Maria sound so good together here. John Sebastian is truly an American music legend. Maria sings two songs on the movie soundtrack for "Steel Yard Blues". It's here on RUclips.
@@shootfirst2097yeah...... except:.....there WAS:....MIDNIGHT AT THE OASIS!!! AND WE ALL DO KNOW HER AND LOVE HER STYLE AND SPIRIT ON EVERYTHING SHE SINGS!!!!!!! HAPPILY!!!!
John Sebastian is a genius. Songs of 1960' and 70's were consistently brilliant. Albums :Daydream and Hums of The Loving Spoonful were 2 of the best of that era. Maria M is like him still immensely talented.
Saw JS in Denver at last year at Swallow Hill and his show was excellent and almost like a Broadway Show with him reminiscing on old Lovin Spoonful tunes and his own great career. Great Stores and after the show what a thrill to meet him/finally. I saw MM 3x, once in a Vegas type Cabaret, once in a casual Club and once at a hard core drinking Late Night Blues Bar. Point, she can adapt to any Audience. I got to meet her and she was like meeting an old friend. True American Music by Very Talented and Great People. Can't believe they went to HS together!
Am here in UK. My older brother introduced me to JS albums and am forever grateful. My bro was killed sadly while still young(23) and I always think of him when I hear JS music. With my son marrying an American girl v shortly maybe I can get to see JS in California?
We have seen both artists in separate shows at the great Hugh's Room in Toronto. The venue was so small, you could have a chat with the artist after. Covid hit Hugh's Room so hard, they are barely holding on. Maria and John - wonderful here and always.
Okay! My bucket list! Lol I've played with many, but goodness knows I'd love nothing more than to play with you guys! Seriously! Yeah, I'm a whopping 60, but I surely need to get the hell out of the house! I know you get that! Lol I know both of your your tunes, I've been playin' long time, and would love to hang, or even just see you two if you're ever in LA! Search, Scott Douglas MacLachlan. Played with Spencer Davis, etc.... but you guys were my childhood (john), and you (my dearest) Maria, my teens/20's! :)
I am in the UK and have her single (vinyl) of Midnight at the Oasis from the 70's and John Sebastiens albums. Educated my friends about him and they loved him. He is immense. 'Coconut Grove' being the best
Coconut grove is definitely one of their better ones, but they have countless gems, you should check out their "everything playing" album its truly a masterpiece, not flawless, but nevertheless phenomenal.
Search the tune, Nashville Cats. Jesus, if you call yourself a Beatles fan, the Lovin' Spoonful was of that era of ours (Summer in the City), and god knows if you don't know our beloved 60's music, you're forever lost! Lol Welcome back Kotter? Jesus!! Lol
So true. I first MJH well after I had grown up with bands like Lovin' Spoonful, and had discovered and played the grooves out of every album the Kweskin Jug Band had. And when I heard MJH is began to understand where this fabulous genre of music came from. Clear as a bell!
It ain't the meat ... Itz the Music, - theres a great song too; Go check that ole' -"It Ain't the Meat its the Motion" if the M&M* gal is seeing this I was On Gerry's knee at Kesey's in `72, luv to ya!
Two of the very best. John Sebastian is seriously underappreciated for his contribution to American music!
Sebastian is in my Top Ten of great songwriters. Man, what a string of brilliance in his prime!

They are old Village folkie friends going back to the early -mid '60s and played in the short lived "Even Dozen Jug Band" (1964).
Loved her Midnight in the Oasis but she's still got it - you go girl!
Still got it? Maria never ever lost it, just let it age like good wine...
she is so much more than that one song. she has a very rich backstory/history
Without "Midnight at the Oasis" pretty much nobody would know who she was... sadly
@@shootfirst2097yeah...... except:.....there WAS:....MIDNIGHT AT THE OASIS!!! AND WE ALL DO KNOW HER AND LOVE HER STYLE AND SPIRIT ON EVERYTHING SHE SINGS!!!!!!! HAPPILY!!!!
She also did a great song with Willie Nelson and Leon Russell back in the day.
That's music and a voice for sure!! Thanks for posting this so we can all enjoy!

Chevrolet with Jim Qweskin was one of her best!!!
Awesome Maria muldaur
Those two belong in a hall of fame somewhere if they aren't already.
This is back to her jug band roots, which I much preferred to the camel stuff!
Maria could sing the laundry list... the grocery list, and top the charts.
Maria is fantastic
still got it
Holy fu*k? John Sebastian? My f**king childhood!! Lol Loving this!
Cool video, thanks

Just two living legends playing a low key, down home gig.
Que bien se escucha la guitarra y la voz. Me hace recordar una parte de
" goin' up for the country" de 'Canned Heat'. Cómo se llama la canción?
Richland Woman Blues
"Let the Midnight Special shine the light on me ... "
MARIA MY LOVE....
Summer in the city
Thank You , Liked and Shared , Subbed :) QC
Where's Fritz...?
True Goldies!
name of song????
Richland Woman....You can find an earlier version she did with the Jim Kweskin Jug Band.
See, these guys got ALL soaked up in Mississippi John Hurt and there lies the key to all musical success.
