    "Is it go to war ready? I don't know, are you?" Probably the most important statement of this video and a question all thinking about this topic should ask themselves and answer honestly.

    So true, I was in Camp Doha, Kuwait right after Desert Shield when crap started exploding all over the place. Lots of people grabbed what was closest and ran like hell. I remember one guy was in the shower when it happened, he ran down the street buck naked carrying his M16 and LBE. Good times. Luckily, only 3 people got wounded, no one died that day on our side.

    Nice loadout. Like you, I also used to be hooked on nicotine, as well as alcohol and drugs. I didn't need AA or anything other than God to get off of all of that. By the grace of God, I have not even had a desire for a cigarette, alcohol, pot, coke or anything else for over 20 years now. When God takes care of a problem, he really takes care of it. God literally relieved me of my addictions over night. I had nothing to do with it. God did it all. Congratulations on getting off of tobacco. God has changed more lives for the good than any government, or man made program ever will.
    I know this may be a bit off subject, but when you mentioned getting off your addiction to nicotine, I felt compelled to back up your statement where you thanked God for it.

    Bear, your vid brought back some memories, and I had a comment to share. One thing I added to my blow out kit was unscented feminine pads and especially the bullet type ones. Believe it or not I saw a bullet type device plug a hole better and faster than a pressure bandage and a pound standard squares, with QC. Plus, they are cheap, individually wrapped, sanitary, and easy to pack.

    I debated long and hard about this and a plate carrier. Tbh I came to the conclusion that something like this that allows me to carry a shitload of stuff is more an important than a carrier that's gonna way me down, and I still have to carry all the stuff I need. It boiled down to being more mobile allows me to be more effective. Plus it's kinda morbid but my family ain't wearing body armor so why would I wanna be the only one protected? I can protect them better by being able to move and defend them. I also use it for milsim airsoft. Ya it's a game but I train by carrying everything I would in a shtf situation and it let's me train by using the same optics(I know people give me shit for using a real steel optic), chest rig with magazines and stuff. It's the weight and familiarity that could very well help me survive when I really need to

    I have had this same discussion with a number of people, Condor gear is not "battle ready", it's made in China, and yes you would be wise to carry extra clips, snaps and replacements for the plastic stuff just in case.
    Now, having said all that, the quality of this stuff is good enough for just about anything you will put it through in your training, adventure trips, survival exploits and general all around playing like a little kid in the woods with more expensive toys. Yes, I said, it's good enough. No, it isn't perfect but it's not intended to be perfect.
    I have any number of Condor products and in the ten years I have owned mine I have had one clip fail and one attachment point break. I repaired both of them in just a couple minutes. I use to use surplus 781 gear and it was great but it wasn't made for the things I do in the civilian world or for hunting.
    The other great thing is price. With the Condor Gear, I can afford to have a couple different chest rigs set up for whatever I might need and not have to spend time switching stuff out and hoping I don't forget something. I can grab my overnight setup, add a couple things and I'm set. Cold weather gear, set up for the extra clothing I'll be wearing. If it's a day hike, all set, if it's a week long bivouac then I'm good to go.
    Keep a battle belt set up with all the thing I will need for quick access to and my chest rig had thing I can get to by taking the chest rig off, but because my battle belt is till on I'm still armed and I'm never caught with my pants down.
    No, it ain't "battle ready" but you ain't in a real battle yet, and should that time come, there will be plenty of real gear to pick up along the way. Remember, if you die first, we're splitting up your gear.

It is not oily and scent less . It will not damage your gear or plastic. It’s plant based nontoxic to humans or dogs . You probably know this already . But it the concentrated form and then mix .

    Somewhere around 10:00 you said something about the Gerber suspension, I’d like to say it has been a GOOD multi tool. Not great, but good. I have had mine for a couple years and it’s actually the one I edc because I got tired of losing expensive leathermans. However, I would not say it’s what I would keep in my kit, and it’s not. A leatherman supertool would be the one for me, and it is. I think the suspension is a little lackluster to use in the field, or anything other than just edc when gear isn’t critical to your survival (usually, not talking about something you’re defending your life with, it’s just a fucking multitool) and of it breaks, you swing by Wally World on the way home and grab another. The supertool has tools that I’ve found myself using, and not being cluttered by shit I don’t. I don’t need a bottle opener, I don’t need scissors, I need a select amount of tools and I need those tools to work when I need them. The supertool does this and I’m certain it’s not going to fail. However in my edc, I might use a bottle opener. I might occasionally use a pair of scissors. And if it gets lost or broken, it’s 30 bucks to replace. It’s a bit more convenient, and although the quality isn’t as nice, if 30 bucks was all you had, you’re in pretty good hands

    Good Vid Bear. I have the same rig. It's funny how the armchair elitists want you to have a full "go to war rig" with 18 mags, 6 pistol mags, water, misc gear, plates and all the other shit that makes you a "operator". Yet, they have no vids, and no clue as to weight. Just with my moderate load on the chest rig is about 30 lbs. throw on a pack, and gun belt and it is easily 80+. I don't hike every day anymore so that kind of weight will kill me.

    Do you have a helmet, or just run a soft cover? I’ve been looking but holy hell their pricey! And thank you for sharing your gear. You’re giving me ideas on possible upgrades. Looked at Condors stuff for years but wasn’t sure if it was combat worthy or air soft crap. I run old Vietnam area Alice gear. Dirt cheap but tuff as nails! I know I’m not a “true/cool” operator but what I have can get it done! Great videos, thanks brother!👍🏻🍻

    Questions do you run plate with chest rig? I run similar rig with my 870 load out. Have been thinking about running it lower with a small plate carrier or conceal carrier. What are your thoughts? I'm not getting any faster as I get older.

    Neat kit. It seems like a pretty good set up, though maybe the bobo kit and stuff pouch would be better suited to being in the pack? It seems like lots of extra bulk when you might want to go fast.

    • @BearIndependent
      @BearIndependent  6 лет назад +1

      North Florida Bushcraft it certainly could be in the pack: I like the “stuff” pouch where I can get at it, so being on the chest rig works for me. The booboo kit could be in or on the pack but I had the real estate open on the chest rig and opted to put it there as to move the weight/bulk off my back.

      Fair enough! I do think that your setup is a lot more realistic than a lot I have seen on RUclips, in terms of not putting a bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with a fight on a fighting kit! Anyway good kit and good video, the minuteman type videos are always fun to watch, its interesting to see how everyone sets their stuff up!

    Newly subscribed, Bear. Been watching your videos off & on for a couple weeks. Sound, straightforward, clear-cut advice & thought-provoking material in all of them so far. Thank you! Clarification question: you mentioned the " Condor leg platform" when you described the utility pouch @ about the 10 min mark; did you mean the "Condor utility leg rig" to get the extra pouches? Thanks for any reply. Moving on to your other vids on similar subjects. Rock on, sir!! God bless!!

      F Schwertz yes I believe that’s it, could mean with a radio pouch, utility pouch, and pistol mag pouch on a drop leg platform for $25ish

      How did you fit the pouches in the molle? The pouches are not regular molle...

    • @BearIndependent
      @BearIndependent  6 лет назад +1

      SnakeDoc Outdoors & Tactical only the pistol mag pouch doesn’t have MOLLE, the other two do; or did? I haven’t bought that rig in a while so it might have changed. There’s also the Condor MOD Straps (search Amazon) that can be used to attach certain gear to MOLLE fields.

    Overall effective essentials in a decent rig.
    Do you keep a pistol on it anywhere? (ever)
    You dont have fire redundancy if its all in one bag, especially in an add-on bag.
