MAHALO NUI LOA for this video! My boyfriend is Hawai'ian and has been begging me to learn to make this. Unfortunately I just spent the last hour scrolling through recipes made by ignorant ha'oles trying to put pineapple in bread and call it Hawai'ian...uninformed nonsense and a waste of my time! THANK GOODNESS for you and this video! Thank you! I knew I was in the right place when you opened in 'Olelo.
@@KeepingItRelle hey so I finally MADE the recipe! They are so ono! Even my in laws were impressed! Tysm! Mahalo nui loa! I’ll be making this at least once a month.
My husband is Portuguese and his mom makes great sweet bread. Unfortunately her recipe is for the masses and requires either many deep round pans or loaf pans. I love how you baked your recipe. Definitely going to have to give this a try! Thanks!! My favorite bread to make that is quick is Banana Bread and I admit I have been making a lot of sourdough as well.
Oh, this is great! I've been wanting to make this for ages and never got around to it. Certainly have the time now. Mahalo! Malama Pono from Keoni in WA State.
Finally. Just last month (and for years before that) I was searching for a Portuguese Hawaiian Sweet Bread VIDEO recipe cause yeah that sourdough stuff just don't seem appealing to us Hawaii folks lol. At last. Mahalo for posting. 🙌
It's pretty much that. Portuguese immigrants brought a lot of things that are thought to be Hawaiian, sweet bread, malasadas, and even the ukulele was based on a couple Portuguese instruments
@@KeepingItRelle I tried it didn't rise and I am new to all the baking my ava was from azores Island and my avówas from another island they passed away and I miss her cooking I have tried to make this bread with your recipe the first time came out good not like hers but pretty close I really was so happy when seeing your recipe I will try again I think I over mixed it became dry hard and heavy 😢
Also thank you, when I was a kid I watched my mother and grandmother attempt and attempt to recreate my grandmothers recipe but alas it was “never as good as hers” instead of making it for the masses I’ll try and make some just for the stomachs of my loved ones, hopefully in the future it’ll be “never as good his”

So true! Mahalo Relle for sharing this recipe & so many other local delicious ones too!
Can you freeze the dough to use at a later time? If so, at what step in the process is best to freeze?
Very nice recipe!!!
Mahalo
Great easy recipe! Mahalo!
Hope you enjoy
Looks good and easy, i wamt to try this! Is it better to use bread flour?
When making bread, I'd say much better to use bread flour.
Looks like the Hawaiian bread you can buy at the store! We love that. My favorite bread to make is banana bread.
Similar taste. Thanks for stopping by.

Can’t wait to try this. It’s so hard to get an accurate recipe. Our vavos (grandmothers) do not measure. At least mine didn’t lol.
Hope you enjoy
I am soooo making this for my boyfriend!
Hope he likes it
@@KeepingItRelle oh im sure he will!
Stuck in the mainland and missing good food 😢
Next time can you make these ones with cheese and ube?
Sounds 'ono!
Sweet bread of course I’m a Portuguese
So so yummy!
Can you mix instant masa corn flour if you do not have enough flour
I've never tried. I'd assume that'll change the taste and texture. If you try it let me know.
Can I use instant yeast if I just put it straight in
If that's all you have on hand it can work.

Can you please give measurements ?
All recipe instructions and ingredients are listed in the description box.
Forgot the lemon zest.
You can totally add the lemon zest. I prefer mine without it.
