The explanation why is hilarious. It’s because his stench is so powerful that it makes peoples eyes water and they can see him good enough and then the stench is so strong it throws off targeting systems making the missiles veer off course.
I miss this kind of animation. Don't get me wrong, there are A LOT of very pretty shows being made nowadays, but something about this hand-drawn, technical stuff is just captivating. Could look at 80s/90s anime people pressing buttons all day.

just think about just how detailed the animation is. and back then this was the NORM and what was EXPECTED of films like this. now its something to PRAISE about when not that long ago it was completely normal.
OVA/movie-quality animation isn't standard at all. As for TV stuff, its wes a lot like puppetry; people were better at hiding issues in that cause they'd been doing it for decades and knew all the tricks. It's why early 2000 CG looked like garbo until the general public got enough experience to do it well beyond "use it cause its cheaper'.

@@frikandelcat damn stay safe man. i am American and i bike a lot and i’ve been hit by a car on two separate occasions, and by another bike once.

I remember I have been hit by a car when I was like 10 years old, had the first ride with my new bike and was biking to my brothers' judo lesson with my brother and mom. no matter what I did, I would've been hit. also I collided with another biker a few weeks ago, and this while im in the netherlands, the country known for its many bikers. don't worry, it wasn't fatal, I had no broken bones and I just got back home at the end.

Memories is a really good and often overlooked movie, highly recommended even for people that aren't into anime

just think about just how detailed the animation is. and back then this was the NORM and what was EXPECTED of films like this. now its something to PRAISE about when not that long ago it was completely normal.
OVA/movie-quality animation isn't standard at all.
As for TV stuff, its wes a lot like puppetry; people were better at hiding issues in that cause they'd been doing it for decades and knew all the tricks. It's why early 2000 CG looked like garbo until the general public got enough experience to do it well beyond "use it cause its cheaper'.

idk if you mean quality-wise or not, but animation quality has only been getting better... although that is at the expense of the animators
