I'm so glad mst3k is available for free on RUclips. It literally has made my life so much better as an adult. My level of joy increased exponentially since discovering mst3k again in life.

People don't want Ghostbusters without the original cast or something that reeks of political correctness or SJW-ness. I never thought Ghostbusters was the greatest comedy ever made -- face it, Aykroyd is far from the best screenwriter alive -- but with the guys pushing an average 65 years old and it being 30+years since the first film a reunion film wasn't going to happen... and do people really want that in light of what's happened with the most recent reboots and sequels to classic series like Star Trek, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc.? Fans can always go back and re-watch the original film and nothing will be taken from it... If you're really desperate for a continuation, look into Ghostbusters II or the videogame that came out during the PS3/Xbox 360 era. The game is the closest we'll ever come to a third film with the original cast. That last one -- OMG -- there was just so much negativity surrounding it and Feig damaged his reputation with a bunch of people online by painting everybody who was against the project as a misogynist, idiot, racist, etc. Yes, there were idiots that said some dumb things but Feig and 1 or 2 of the actors throwing things back at EVERYBODY sure didn't help matters. It was very unprofessional of him and I'm sure it hurt his career with a bunch of potential audiences. The Ghostbuster fans are never going to forget what he said... Aykroyd sure isn't on Feig's side, either, and has made that abundantly clear in his comments. Ghostbusters was his baby and Feig, Pascal, and others at Sony ruined the possibilities of doing anything new with the franchise for at least another decade...
Actually there was a convention in Colorado that Joel, Trace, and Kevin went to in the early 90's to promote MST3K... I remember it was around the same time as when "Brahm Stoker's Dracula" was set to come out, and Joel was interested in the video toaster tech that was being used in a new show pilot called "Babylon 5". My memories of talking to Joel and co suggest that they were cool guys.
MST3K & Joel Hodgson - a team of creative geniuses (genii?). So much was right ----- puppets, props, gizmos, & gadgets, voices & vocalizations, pop culture references, raw reactions & feelings (knowing the audience), silhouettes & mimes, knowledge of the material (serious research & first-hand familiarity), editing, music, deadpan humor. A brilliant masterpiece of what a few talented guys can accomplish!
Joel Joel Joel....I guess it's complicated being you. I amaze at the humor you guys produced while doing Cold War movie cut-ups. You guys certainly walked a razors edge. It was 20 years later that I realized what the heck exactly was communism because no school I ever attended ever cared to explain it to me. I even attended the Univ. of Penn, an Ivy league college! I would have appreciated being exposed to Carol Quigly back then but no! But at least I was exposed to you guys. Twenhty years later, after my "awakening", I can still find deeper levels of humor that seems to follow me as I grow in understanding. You guys are for me the TV equivalent of Devo. Being smarter about the world has never actually helped me in any normal life way. But your humor gave me the strength to drop out. I am a total looser now. You guys encouraged me to gird my loins.
Joel Robinson I mean Hodgson is a genuine nice person. For instance at every a&a he's asked the same questions and answers completely, likes its the first time.
In my Hall of Fame for great TV shows, MST3K is there with The Twilight Zone, Top Gear (Jezza, Captain Slow and the Hamster iteration only) Dr. Who, the original Star Trek, and a couple of others. I'm glad it lasted as long as it did, and that it spawned Film Crew, Cinematic Titanic and Rifftrax. Keep circulating the tapes. Also, Crow is my spirit animal. (Robot?)
