I am having a hard time resolving the historic luxury of La Ferte with this very modern new home. Are you having any trouble giving up all the glitz and warmth of age vs the clean unembellished look?
CAROLE. UR TREASURE SMOKY CHANDELIER IS STUNNING. WITH NEW AALL PAPER. I HOPING IT WILL GROW ON YOU. U DID LOVE IT IN LAFERTE.🎉 HALLWZY. BUT NOW CEILINGS R LOWER. HOWEVER. IS VERY AWESOMELY BEAUTIFUL ❤
Love what Carol did with the drawers and how carefully. Dan Preston. Ash and Terry and Tracy, Lesa & Ted at Montmagner and you two are the most fun cause you do it all yourselves, are creative and do it right no matter what it takes. And, of course, Stephanie is in her own fun world. We miss you doing it in a Chateau, but you still make it fun and you have a great house.
Your son is as talented as his dad! Beautiful job on the nightstands! Also maybe if you switched the buffet on the bird wall to under the mirror you might like it better because it’s wider to balance the mirror. Just a thought! 😋
I was thinking just as you said it “ The wallpaper is coming down” thank God. The bedside cabinets worked out well. Matt’s done a perfect job. I’m not a fan of vinyl, but it looks great on the drawers from where I’m sitting 😁
Great job Carole! You are so good with tedious and intricate work. Matt did a fantastic job and voila, the problem is solved. You all seem very happy being near each other again. The chateau was beautiful but family is precious. ❤
I live in an apartment with a small bedroom. There’s only one wall for my bed, which leaves the same dilemma as you, no room for a bed side table. I found at a local craft store a 4 tiered skinny, but tall bookcase. It fit perfectly in the corner. I stained it mahogany to match my dressers and other bedside table. I had to get it a wee bit darker to match the 100 year old color of said dressers(3rd generation pass down) and then put a semi Matt varnish on. Matches perfectly! The 3rd shelf is empty for a cup etc. I installed very cute LED reading lights on the wall on both sides of the bed. I also drilled a small hole in the back of the bookcase to feed a double USB charging port. The bookcase is not plain straight, it had curves down the front sidesincreasing in depth of the shelves as it went down. 1st & 2nd shelf(bottom to top) have bigger hard cover books and the 4th has small paper back books. The 5th/top has a small glass vase of silk flowers and fairy lights winding around the stems in the vase. I LOVE fairy lights. Ok, I went off but the focus is the bookcase.
The bedside table dilemma - probably too late now but the wall beside the dormer window- there would be space there. So one could just have a wall inline, with the dormer window. This would give more space on the window side of the bed...
I think I’d have tried to build out under the window and put the bed on that wall. But he made a great job with the units. I’m surprised Carol didn’t paint the drawers!
Find a nice piece of wood and attach to the wall, floating side tables, you can use a golden bracket or wood you bend for flourishing. Gold leaf. I hope you update the paper something dramatic and darker than your bedding or reverse the colors
The chandelier in the dining room looks like it could stand to be dropped down a bit. As it’s above the table, there’s no risk of someone running into it. I think it would feel a bit better in the room if it wasn’t so close to the ceiling.
That mirror in the dining room would look much better on the wall with the birds it would double the amount of light and size of the dining room because it would be reflecting the outside
💕I would of made a hole in the wall (painted green) to see what was behind it to see if it could be moved back to fit the bedside table into the space as is💕Especially as you plan to decorate the room💕
Dearly love the bedside s tands. The wardrobe drawers were just amazing. You have given me an idea. Can't wait for the bird wallpaper to be gone.Take care all of you.
👍🥰👍🥰👍🥰👍🥰👍🥰Your new/old house is so very beautiful. You both look great! Carole doing a great job, she’s a perfectionist. You’ve got to find something for Carole to gold leaf! Maybe furniture?!? ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, I guess everyone needs to live in a chateau for 5 or more years and then move and be delighted that major changes do not take 5 years to complete. Happy days
We call that contact paper in America (sticks) been around since like 1960. Poor man’s quick solution . Matt did an excellent job. New man on the job to watch. So long to the Dining Room birdie wall paper.
Well done on the side tables. I like them better smaller. The vinyl is the best way without having to replace the fronts. I can't wait for the next video.. the birds are going, something tells me there may be some paint involved soon too. It takes a while to settle in, you are doing great making video's while transitioning!
Hello, the tables are fantastic. Well done Matt! Lovely to see everyone again. I am not sure how I missed the last few videos. Lots of decisions to make in a new house.
Family, I'm so happy for your choice of giving your lives a chance. Not that La Ferté didn't deserve your commitment and love, but the way things are now is much better. 🙌
I miss seeing both of you in the chateau but very happy for this new venture With your touch Carole always good with your choice and good the see Matt joining both thanks for the video I enjoy always good luck for the challenges ahead see you soon bye
Great job Carol draws are looking good. And you son done a marvelous job with the bed side tables👍.ooking forward to your next job take care all Jean and family ❤XX
I would reface the wardrobe with sheet of wood stained the same colour wears a lot better longterm. Vinyl does not wear well and scratches easily. If your cat decides to scratch it will last even less time. I agree the mirror doesn't suit the dining room I would put prints instead.
I bet Carol isn’t going to put a bird wallpaper up in the dining room. I guess everybody has their own opinions, but the birds just got to go. Thank you
Carole & paintbrush.. I believe the term is "Stay tuned! She will be back at it in no time." 🙂 Impatient Carole? No, that vinyl cover over requires patience and diligence. 👍 Much respect.🙇♂
Carol will take months to pick a wallpaper she always does. It goes like this" I like this one" Viewers what do you think??? No i don't really like that one" Maybe this one"" I think i will look for more samples" Anyway i'm going to leave it for a while. But i must say Carol you have great taste and pay great attention to detail. Delighted you are back to doing videos again. Matt did a splendid job. Thanks for video . Cheers.
Hi Carole and Adrian, I was thinking, why not just go buy smaller side tables. You think I would know better by now, that you guys always make the impossible, possible. Matt well done the tables came out perfect. Carole through the lens, you can't tell that's vinyl, it looks very nice, and your patience for projects never ceases to amaze me. Things are coming together. Hi Beth. Love from N.Y.
Loved the mirror in landscape mode. I understand that Adrian is too busy to deal with something like the chateau. Unfortunately my favorite parts were Adrian doing the floors. I’m not a fan of rococo or ornate furniture. Very sad.
The bedside tables don't match the wardrobe. I'd have made new bedside tables in white laminate. But I'm so happy you didn't remove the cupboard, it's lovely. The bed is spectacular.
Oh no, you're not allowed any more gold! Well, that does it! I am unsubscribing! Kidding! There is no stopping the DIYers in you all. Great job on the vinyl tack. I used to hate doing that. It came in good use when I was a poor student and covered cardboard boxes for nightstands! Speaking of...awesome job on the nightstands, Matt. You all keep all of us well entertained. Much love always.❤
I love how meticulous Carol is with her work.
You taught me a lot and I enjoy watching your videos.
I'm so glad!
I am having a hard time resolving the historic luxury of La Ferte with this very modern new home. Are you having any trouble giving up all the glitz and warmth of age vs the clean unembellished look?
Although we do miss parts of the château, we love being close to all the family 😊
Oh. That wall paper....yuck. I'm sure. Excited for Carole to get a new wallpaper🎉

All the ones I stick with

PG Tips Great job Carole with the drawers . Matt done good job bedside tables actually liked the mirror in dining room coming together 👍👏👏👏👏👏nicely
Thanks so much Pauline! 😊
Lovely bedside tables that fit! Wonderful work on the vinyl
Thank you kindly!
Another option is to paint the outlines of the wardrobe white.
Just paint the trim to match the drawers !!!!
Annie Sloan has a paint goes over everything and it has a low gloss. One step not chalk.
Amy Howard has a gloss paint looks like lacquer.
How about adding boxed paneling on each w door, making it old.fashioned, fancy the doors up
Your son is as talented as his dad! Beautiful job on the nightstands! Also maybe if you switched the buffet on the bird wall to under the mirror you might like it better because it’s wider to balance the mirror. Just a thought! 😋
The buffet is going to another room!
Ust paint the closet same color as the rest of the room so it blends or put wallpaper to match other end!
Love to see you all again!!! Creative & meticulous as ever!!!❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yay! Thank you!
I was thinking just as you said it “ The wallpaper is coming down” thank God. The bedside cabinets worked out well. Matt’s done a perfect job. I’m not a fan of vinyl, but it looks great on the drawers from where I’m sitting 😁

@@LifeAfterLaFertéa bit of saloon wallpaper in the dining ?
Suggestion for the bedroom....small shelves on each wall, sconces by headboard. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦🫶

Yes, family comes first 😊
Replacing the doors on the wall unit to make them look beautiful instead of contemporary, (eew), would make them fit the room better
With a smaller space try degourney wall paper. Or little green

Outstanding work !!!!

I think I’d have tried to build out under the window and put the bed on that wall. But he made a great job with the units. I’m surprised Carol didn’t paint the drawers!
Good job. It looked a bit dark, but once it was on, it was perfect. I really like the mirror landscape suit wall area 😊
Thank you! 😊
Love your precision work. Such attention to detail!!! Looks great, Carole !!! Your husband's a lucky man!!
Agree 😂😂
I think the mirror looks great, as does Carol’s new drawer fronts. Job well done to you both🙏👌
Thanks so much! 😊
Carol you could paint the cupboard frame and kick plates- easier than sticky paper perhaps?
Find a nice piece of wood and attach to the wall, floating side tables, you can use a golden bracket or wood you bend for flourishing. Gold leaf. I hope you update the paper something dramatic and darker than your bedding or reverse the colors
Good to see you all cracking on folks! Super job on the side tables Matt!
Thanks 👍
Love the new nightstands. Great job Matt. Looking forward to seeing how you decorate the dining room 😍😘

It has been considered now its staying
I would myself, change the hardware closer to match the dresser and end tables.

There are roof joists behind that wall!
Carole, all those birds have got to go, what were the previous owners thinking? I like the little end tables, they turned out really good. Kathy USA
The birds will be leaving very soon Kathy
Dearly love the bedside s tands. The wardrobe drawers were just amazing. You have given me an idea. Can't wait for the bird wallpaper to be gone.Take care all of you.
Bird wallpaper going soon 😃
I like the mirror were it is. It just needs a sconce on either side to balance it off.
We did consider that but it was too much!
Beautiful job on the night tables.I kept thinking hanging shelves. You all had a better idea.
Thank you! 😊
It was painful to see those bedside cabinets cut down. Won't it be difficult to make the bed, particularly on the left side? Anyway, it's done now!
Great job Carole!
Thanks so much!

Great work with the tables. That mirror is not for that dinning room. If there is not other option put it the other way. Now is too high. Hi from USA.

Build a headboard with storage that matches the storage on the otherside and get rid of the frame
But I love the framework

It seems quite small for a master bedroom.
Large wardrobe space
Why not put floating shelves , easy, looks great, prefect sizing.
Not for me!! 😃
@LifeAfterLaFerté no I see that. But it's a great option for limited , odd size spaces
Why could you put boards coming out from the wall. I’ve seen it everywhere in small places.
