Dr McDougall, your fantastic videos keeps me on the track. 80 % Carbohydrates, 8 % Fat and 12 % Protein. All Calories from only Unprocessed Plants. Not difficult: What I eat in a day: Breakfast Porridge 50 % Oats, 50 % Buckwheat, Bluberries on top. Lunch Sallad, Boiled Potatoes and Carrots, Peas and Broccoli. Diner Brown Rice, Lentils, Corn and a few vegetables. That's all people need to eat to regain HEALTH. Easy!! As John says, repeat the same meals day in and day out. I DO > SOLVED ALL MY HEALTH PROBLEMS!!

@loveelose How is that too much protein and fat? That is probably at most 10% calories from fat if not less and at most 15% protein. Not too high at all. That is about as low fat as you can get.

Well, very few ask why. My grandmother on my father's side of the family suffered chronic kidney disease. I also heard on the news that colon cancer is on the rise among younger age groups. Is it any wonder why... NOPE. Thank you for caring enough to share your knowledge and the truth about food and disease, Dr. John McDougall. ❤

I still believe the substances that are put in "foods" by humans make that "food" addictive. (Cooked oils, salt, msg and msg-like substances, sugars and sweeteners, "natural flavors", and other substances, especially the combinations of these things)
I don't believe plain, raw, unsalted nuts are addictive in the true sense, although some people will overconsume them if they are abundant, and especially shelled and ready-to-eat.
That aside, I do believe that there is a form of "true addiction" to many of the "foods" out there because it meets the same definition of "true addiction", which are, can't quit eating them even though we know they're detrimental to our health; cause thought, emotional, and behavior changes; and we experience withdrawal symptoms (headaches, irritability, etc) when we stop eating them.

Didn't necessarily follow this McDougall way, but got all of my dietary ideas from him and his wife, though I still eat avocados and use very little spray olive and avocado oil. Mostly I eat Tofu and Broccoli, and add beets, potatoes, and purple Okinawan sweet potatoes. Most other veggies too.

@@gingermonroe4153 Indeed. I gave up trusting doctors by default. In 2017 I was Dx with Type 2 diabetes. HbA1c of 11.8% and blood glucose of 594. I was at deaths door, knocking loudly.
At the ER they got the glucose under 300 with drugs and insulin. My entire body was a giant muscle cramp. I was beginning to think they gave me Tetanus.
They sent me home after about six hours. For the next month I was on metformin, 1,000 mg 2x a day. After 30 days my glucose averaged 250 for the day, measured every hour.
I figured it was time to figure things out on my own, because the V.A. Doctors WERE CLUELESS. I’m a troubleshooter. I know how to figure out how things work, and based on how they work, how to fix them with they fail. I was repairing TVs at age 10, and was fixing fighter jets for 20 years in the USAF. What is the human body? A bio mechanical/electrical system. I could do this.
FIRST: Scrap all knowledge about nutrition. Its obviously wrong. ALL OF IT.
Then read everything I can about type 2 diabetes. Both sides. All arguments. What causes it. Eapecially the ramp up. The rise in type 2 diabetes started in the 1950’s. Shortly after Ancel Keys “discovered” fat was bad with his famous “22 countries study”. Thats right. It was not a “7 countries study”. He left the days out for 15 countries. HE CHERRY PICKED HIS DATA. Thats when I learned about Epidemiology. Which all health and nutrition studies rely on, for the wrong reasons. They are using a non-scientific study and calling it science. This took me only a few hours of self study to figure out. Mostly because I’m somewhat a science nerd, and continually second guessed myself. I must be wrong. Did they keep the actual science a secret? There is ZERO science being done. Only epidemiology. Then the light bulb went off over my head. “Oh shit. This is on purpose. The only logical reason for this is to keep sick people sick. If you cure any disease, you lose a customer.” I was initially scared by this. Because I realized I was wrong. Its worse than that. Its one of two things. Either these people, the people that set “standard of care”, want to kill as many people as possible, over decades, OR… they are immensely stupid people who can not understand basic science. It can only be one of those two things. The more you know… the more it scares the shit out of you.
But I digress, this was supposed to be about what I did to fix my health.
After discovering what all that, I went ZERO CARB. No plants. No veggies. No fruit. No fiber. All of it counter indicated in the human diet. Just beef, eggs, bacon, chicken, high fat moderate protein.
      - the next day my blood glucose was average 85 measured every hour. And it has stayed that way with exception of several tests I did to see what would happen if I reintroduced. I felt like crap. Immediately got constipation, blood sugar would go up to normal. But I felt like I did before I was Dx with diabetes. Didn’t feel well at all. I tested that 2 or 3 times a year. Only with a single meal. After 4 years of that I came to the conclusion… “frack it. I’m done with testing this. Carnivore is the way to great health. And has zero drawbacks.”
      - cured my diabetes
      - reversed my cancer
      - cured my asthma
      - lost 60 pounds in thirty days
-- from 250 pounds to 190 pounds in one month
      - cured my canker sores
-- I would have them about once every two months. The entire inside of my mouth would be covered in canker sores. Hundreds, even down my throat. Making it impossible to swallow even water. I had to gargle with xylocain viscous to swallow food or water. It would take two weeks to clear up.
      - cured my kidney stones
-- my first stone passed in 2001. And had at least one per year until 2014 when they began to pass at least 2 per month, sometimes once a week. They stopped suddenly. And have not returned. After starting zero carb carnivore.
      - cured my arthritis. It was mild, but it was definitely there always reminding me I was getting older. GONE. (I’m now 60)
      - allergies (hay fever) gone
      - and a slew of other little problems
Dr Ken Berry is a great resource about carnivore. As well as Dr Eric Westman for low carb in general.
And Professor Bart Kay (nsfw, language. He is a very salty Kiwi)

Even though I am not a medical doctor I love knowing which numbers are out of range and I look up solutions to fixing it. I am WFPB for over two years now (since 4-1-2021). T2DB. HBP. Both numbers have gone down. HBP pills were adjusted. I am still trying to manage the T2DB with diet and exercise. it’s going slow. I really want to load up on fruit, potatoes, beans and brown rice with the vegetables because the vegetables do not fill me up but I eat just enough of the starches and fruit to get some carbs to feel full. I also do yoga, tai chi, walking and a few weights during the week. I also stop eating early like 4:30pm or 5:30pm. This has helped with letting my blood sugar drop drop drop as I do light exercises to help it drop. I tell myself nothing is easy so you get out what you put in. ❤

9/24/23 Hi Chef AJ..... Was watching the Sun. show of Dr. McDougall & I assume it was almost over & then your show came on with you interviewing Dr. McDougall....so went ahead & watched it too....
The filming was not that good during certain parts of this video ....does it have to do with ZOOM ? Dr. Mc Dougall's sound was kinda garbled in a few places when he was talking...so could not make this out....
Do you ever go back & watch any of these videos ? Someone had asked question re: a 98 yr. old having UTI and could not understand what he was saying..... can that question be asked again , on one of your Q & A's ?? love your videos & the McDougall's are my fav. to watch, but I never know when they are on Live....can I be notified ? I always see them much later....I thought this was a continuing of the one I started watching & it wasn't.... Were you just filling in with this video ? I had no problem hearing him when Heather interviewed them, but then the filming was off for some reason.....
This is Sept 2023 & you had mentioned that you would see him in 2 wks, he would be back in May....so this must be an old video !!! I'm confused.....!!
To make this a little easier to understand, I'm watching today's video & then it turns into one from last yr.....don't recall this happening before....
Think he was suppose to be on at 5PM to day Pacific Time, I live in Ohio and we have Standard Time....did not know what state this was coming from....so of course I did miss it, but went on later & able to see the rerun.....

    Good stuff here Dr.
I'l have to disagree on what you said about spending 1-2hours on dialysis if you're following a starch-diet.
This is highly unrealistic as dialysis is also removing fluid. Blood pressure management is extremely important too, so 1-2 hours will not be enough for the dialysis treatment to remove fluid at a safe rate. Taking fluid off too fast may result in huge drops in BP, which can result in uncomfortable symptoms (nausea, cramping, fatigue etc) and may be highly dangerous. On the flipside, if you're not taking off enough fluid, you'll leave your dialysis treatment with eleveated blood pressure which will contribute to cardiovascular disease and heart failure.
Also as a side note for other viewers:
Whilst removing Urea & Phosphate on dialysis may become easier if an individual follows a diet lower in protein, Potassium may skyrocket if someone is eating a large amount of vegetables and fruit (this is where a dietitian should come in for education, to help someone select more appropriate options based on their own individual blood tests). Ofcourse, if Potassium is not managed properly, tachychardia and the risk of a fatal heart attack is a real risk.

What happens if there is an issue with kidney and diabetes and gluten sensitivity.

    • @ad6417
      @ad6417 Год назад +4

In other videos I heard Dr McDougall mention the starch solution will fix gluten problems. Because if you focus on good starches like potatoes and corn it shouldn't trigger anything. I think he says less than 5% of the population have a true problem with gluten in those of the people with celiac disease. He also said that what people think is a gluten reaction actually as a reaction to the seed oils contained in the gluten products.

Carbohydrates increase blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetics. High blood sugar for diabetics leads to very serious medical conditions. If you have diabetes and blood tests indicate your kidney function is low it seems you need to restrict both protein and carbs. This leaves you with a high fat diet, right? It seems that eliminating dairy and meat products would help improve your kidney functions. The normal advice is to eat mainly plants, but plants contain proteins too. Are plant proteins less damaging to your kidneys? Maybe a vegetarian diet naturally reduces protein when compared to a diet high in animal protein, so you could see kidney benefits despite some protein in your diet.

And they say that you make the decisions to be a Narcisst latest with 9 or 11. I wondered if there is more to it! Because I don't understand it. Maybe you know something about this.
