My wife thinks I'm stalking Susan, because I've been listening to them so much lately. Fact is, I haven't seen a new band come along that moved me like this in decades. Beautiful voice of Susan, unearthly guitar from Derek, and one of the tightest bands I've heard since the original Allman Brothers 45 years ago. I've been waiting a long, long time for these guys.

For me Delaney & Bonnie started it all in 1969. Mad Dogs carried that on with several of the same performers. Allman Brothers really turned heads with beautiful and very powerful music. Then we suffered through the disco and anthem rock years. And finally we're back to the roots in a reincarnation that should endure for many years because TTB can be trusted to do the right thing. I appreciate that they are willing to cover so many great songs.

I was walking up Circuit ave on Martha's Vineyard one afternoon in the mid 90's. Walking past a club that had open windows I heard a woman belting out something so strong and sweet I had to go in and see. There Susan was, blowing away a small room(and the street!) with her incredible presence. Not to be overlooked was the guitarist(Not Derek) who was playing guitar really well...and playing some pedals for hammond organ pad sound under himself. I remember it like yesterday, will never forget it. Many years later I had occasion to meet Derek and some other members of the ABB at a show in Massachusetts. Derek was just so kind, I asked about his amps (I'm a fellow guitar geek) he lit up a little and told me all about them. I saw him again a year later and he remembered me and the conversation. Such good people, stellar musicians and a gift to us all. Thank you to whoever is responsible for giving us such great musicality at this time of computer music!

It was the early 90's and I was a waitress at a classy steak house on the South Shore of Massachusetts. The restaurant had a nice lounge with a fireplace and cozy spots to sit. They had live music Thursday through Saturday in the evenings. Every Thursday for awhile this young gal with the voice of a raspy angel would belt out tunes with her band, can't remember the name. Everyone wanted to work those nights. Very long story short, it was Susan. I've been a fan ever since! And of course, Derek ❤.

They really are something very very special together, Susan Tedeschi has an amazing rich, technically perfect, soulful voice, people compare her to the greats like Joplin and Holiday but I think she is unique with her own sound.
Derek Trucks is as laid back as Clapton, but he too has his own unique style and sound. I think it was a lot more than his late uncle that got him into the Allman Brothers Band.
I just wish my wife would look at me the same way Susan Tedeschi looks at Derek Trucks.

Derek will play music that he wants to play and it he's really not concerned if people get it or not...amazing in this day and age!

The song still has that emotional power all these years later and obviously many great performers sing it. This version has a nice soulful feel but with Susan's voice, it maintains the necessary poignancy. Nice trumpet and backup singers. These people have extended this song's life with a haunting and compelling take and introduced it to new, younger ears. If you don't know where rock and roll has gone -- it's healthy and living with Tedeschi-Trucks. Rap and hip-hop have nothing on this.
