Amtrak just resumed service yesterday ( 6/3/2020 ) on that line . Glad to see you decided to travel to the Strasburg area. The main freight activity goes through Lebanon, Pa on the Harrisburg line. I am about a 90 minute drive from there. Have a good day !
Very cool! Amtrak ran some dead head moves and light engine moves over the line to prevent the rails from getting rusty. The rust messes up the signals
Ha Jay,the US needs more hi speed E trains for the forensic travelers.those trains are clean and green.have a nice weekend.greetz:Peer from the Netherlands.
@@MrPeerum Unfortunately , the US Government seems to be more concerned about how much money it will bring in as Amtrak has been a long standing financial problem. MrPeerum You obviously have no firsthand knowledge. And by the way the U.S.has almost 180,000 miles of track .How many miles in the Netherlands? And most railways here are privately owned.
I have been there many times and have seen many Amtrak trains go by but never a freight train. I notice the addition of concrete ties since I was there last.
@@JawTooth They go that fast on the North East Corridor which runs from Washington DC to the Boston , Mass area. Amtrak just started testing new locos for that line.
The Jaw tooth version of the movie Speed! Except it's a train NOT a bus, But a train! Ha! Saved to playlist, Amtrak & Steam trains! Loved it! Thanks for sharing! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Nice salute to railfans by Amtrak. I'd bet that not many got shots of NS interchanging cars on that line during the day; nice catch Brian. I noticed that while waiting for the Strasburg steam train, the photographer with the hand held camera realized he was too close and backed up - good man !! Railfans respect trains and train crews.
Great vidio, l have been viewing VR live cameras every day at Strasburg and Paradise during the covid 19 quarantine lock down and this is the first time ever seeing NS drop off at Paradise in daylight hours even though this vidio is from 2019. What a difference the year has been. Normally the switching is done at night. Thanks
I think those are the fastest trains that I have ever seen. I just came in from mowing the grass. Got rained out. Looks like a short but powerful storm today
Remember your videos on Thomas the tank -when you did Strasburg last year ! NS locos always look smart with the prancing stallion on the front -and I dont know why -prefer the BNSF myself ! This is another cam you see on Railfan -but you never get to see what you find ! Nice to see the steamers still moving with pride too ! Another Jawtooth special ! Regards
If you ever get a chance , go to Strasburg,Pennsylania .It is all about trains & steam locomotives.I found it out to be very interesting. You just need a car to get around ,because I couldn't find much else to do there !!!!!
I have quite a few videos from Strasburg. I go there every summer. I will be there again on June 29. I also have some videos to post from there last fall when 611 was there. I was part of the Lerro Productions photo op
Hey JT, you were in my old neighborhood - in the ‘70s! I went to college in Lancaster. So much great action in the PC years: Broadway Limited; freights on the Port Road along the Susquehanna; the Reading in Lititz and Manheim. I recommend filming at Safe Harbor. Fantastic scenery. The Port Road, the old A&S Low Grade, trestles, a dam! Check it out!
Yes it was strange to see the NS train there. 99% sure Virtual Railfan cam caught it as it normally focuses there at the Strasburg Railroad interchange and U.S 30 overpass. NS normally goes through Norristown, Pottstown, Reading and then into Harrisburg. Old Reading Railroad Line. I Live along the NS Harrisburg Line Between Pottstown and Norristown. So I know NS is hardly there in Paradise, Pa. So it's Mainly Amtrak all the way from Philadelphia to Harrisburg.
Hey, how are you doing! When I first saw the location, I thought it might have been Paradise, KY (like the song "...take me back to Muhlenberg County Down by the Green River where Paradise lay" It would be interesting to hear a defect detector give the speed of one of those Amtrak trains. Hi Mr.Jawtooth, the NS switch job was a bust. The Amtrak trains made up. Those Amtrak locomotives were the HH8's right? Not to familiarized with them, but are really nice looking. Then the Steam brought up closing. Very nice video. Take care Mr.Jawtooth.
Switching done the old way: hand signals. With respect to the first Amtrakker, I thought sure it had derailed what with all the dust it kicked up once it got past you. The other Amtrak was high ballin'!
The next time that you are in Pennsylvania I have a good area to railfan at it is Gettysburg Pa CSX goes west during the day and goes east at night or the evening. I do railfaning at night after I am done on Wednesday nights around 9:30 pm.
If you want to catch really fast Amtrak show me the times are it comes at 12:002:004:00 and those are some of the times the Amtrak comes that comes every 2 hours

What kind of freight is handled by the Strasburg? It obviously isn't just a shortline tourist road (saw hoppers [grainers?] on the siding after Tue steamer passed).
Grain and lumber mainly. They just bought some land next to the Amtrak mainline at Paradise and they are going to put in a couple sidings there. They are trying to relocate some of their freight business away from their station area to Paradise.
I would like to start uploading train videos since I live near a major line that used to be the old GT line now owned by CN that runs from Chicago, IL to Port Huron, MI.
