I feel lucky and privileged. Me and my wife traveled a lot as a part of our business and always looked for an opportunity to attend his performance. He's unforgettable.
@@talalmog9451 I have come across his artistic roles zapping through videos only this winter when the pandemic (blessed in this case) kept us indoors and hungry for valuable performances and since then I have been searching for him like one of his lovers but unfortunatly most of the things about him are in russian and it has been useless to ask for subtitlesso far.I am a 83 year old lady and am going to listen to IL TROVATORE in Naples performed by Anna Netrebko in open air concert illuding myself of her last opera at the Met with him as conte di Luna can make me breath a bit of magic

The finest baritone ever in my opinion. Placido Domingo used the word "anguish" to describe this loss and I can't think of a better description of how I feel.

We are all in states of anguish over the loss of Dmitri. I have never heard such a perfect and exultant voice and that’s covering 75 plus years of listening to opera, since in utero. My mother was an opera lover, also.

He had an incredible voice !!! I watch him on my TV as often as I can ... and stay up late into the night. When did he perform last? I learned that he passed away 😢 ... I'm still crying. This world lost a great singer, who brought happiness to all who heard him. I will miss his "magic smile" that he gifted all who watched him ! Now I resort to watching the videos, and I sing "along" (only those songs that my mother used to sing in Russian, many years ago... ). She's gone 😢 and so is my father 😢

Same here! Omg, you weren´t just seeing a character being performed, NO! You knew it that you were watching a star, a legend, that experience is something I will never forget.
Loved opera prior to Mr. Hvorostovsky; however, he brought the art form to a new level. Heartbroken when I read of his death. The angels are lucky--I envy them.

With tears in my eyes, I miss him already. I'm not old enough to have heard Leonard Warren live, but Hvorostovsky mastered the Verdi repertoire (and so much more) in a way I've never heard from another baritone. Although I knew this was probably imminent, that doesn't take away the sting. Too soon!
