I was there, front row, almost center! I had never been to the opera, and had hoped desperately to go since I was 13, playing my La boheme highlights CD in my room. And to such a production! At the Met! With two of my favorite singers! It was so exciting and moving, I could hardly breathe. And the curtain call was almost the best part. If only I hadn't been getting over a cold, my "Bravos" might have been heard even over than the lady next to the camera! I will never forget it! Everyone, especially Mr. Hvorostovsky, made it unforgettable.

How can anyone hold back tears when seeing all this specially knowing as we now know that he was gone two years after this memorable performance! The love and admiration for this remarkable man and talented baritone was very clear to see by everyone, and even more moving, unforgettable, and forever marked in the annals of opera history when the shower of white roses descended on him. For me, and I guess for many of his admirers it will be for ever the night at the MET when white roses flew onto the stage to show how much Dmitri Hvorostovsky was appreciated and loved; the night of the white roses; who could ever forget it!
If love alone could save a human being, the love at the Met that night surely would have saved Dmitri Hvorotovsky. I was there that night. The loss is huge. But his gift to us will live on forever. He was larger than life.

Except for the screaming moron hollering her "bravos" into the mike, this is without doubt THE best standing ovation I've ever witnessed. I saw this performance at our local Cineplex a few years ago, and I was in tears over the flood of love and adoration that was literally flung on Dmitri, from the audience, the orchestra, his fellow performers, his conductor … what a lovely, lovely moment. So sad that this great man was lost to us by that hideous disease. His voice lives on, thanks to recordings like this.
